Free osteoporosis prevention program offered

LYONS - Retired & Senior Volunteer Program Bone Builders is an osteoporosis prevention program developed by scientists at Tufts University with the support of the Massachusetts Department of Health and the National Osteoporosis Foundation.

The Bone Builders exercise class is designed to increase bone density to protect against fractures caused by osteoporosis and to improve balance in twice weekly, hour-long classes.

Classes are free and held in Newark, Lyons, Clyde, Red Creek, Sodus and Wolcott.

Volunteers, 55 and older, are needed to lead classes in the Palmyra/Macedon area.

Training is provided and will be offered in April. Class Leaders work in pairs to team-teach the twice weekly sessions.

If interested in becoming a volunteer class leader or for more information about the free classes, call Becky at Wayne County Action Program at 946-7530, or e-mail rebecca.hesbon@waynecap.org. or visit www.waynecap.org.

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is administrated by Wayne County Action Program, Inc. and funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the New York State Office for the Aging. RSVP serves Wayne, Ontario and Seneca counties.
