Business seminar aims to help employers NEWARK: The Finger Lakes East JobService Employer Committee announces a breakfast seminar entitled Reducing Labor Costs in a Business Downturn will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Quality Inn at 125 N. Main St. in Newark. Carolyn Bright, associate employment service representative at the New York State Department of Labor will discuss the Shared Work Program, the layoff alternative, and Jeffry Kapps, unemployment insurance tax auditor, also from the Department of Labor will discuss unemployment insurance tax experience ratings and the affect of shared work benefits on unemployment insurance tax rates. Speakers will also be sharing information about Health NY, Consumer Credit Counseling, and Energy and Food Assistance that could help employees through the current economic challenge. All area businesses are invited and encouraged to use this as a training opportunity for staff. Registration is $20 per person at the door. This includes breakfast buffet and seminar materials.
