LYONS - Joe and Doris Greco were nominated as this years Citizens of the Year by the Lyons Chamber of Commerce at a recent dinner held at Studebakers Grille, which was attended by 76 chamber members and guests. Joe Greco opened a jewelry business in Lyons in 1946 shortly after his return from the Marine Corps. Just a short four years later, he married Doris. Joe plays bass guitar at Trombinos every Friday night, Saturday and second Sunday at the American Legion. He is also involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Rotary. Doris has participated in the band booster club, Girl Scouts and the kiddie parade for Lyons Peppermint Days. She is currently the village historian. If there is an event happening, she is always there with her camera, said Teresa Streb, member of the selection committee. Joe and Doris appeared to be surprised, though they said they were pleased to receive such an honor.
