CCE offers pesticide applicator certification training

NEWARK - Cornell Cooperative Extension Wayne will offer private pesticide applicator training for those who have experience through formal post-high school education or on-the-job experience. This does not take the place of the 30-hour course for those without experience.

Training by specialists Debbie Breth and Mike Stanyard will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 5, and Friday, March 6, at the CCE Wayne Office in Newark. Training is $30.

To register, call 331-8415 by March 3.

The private applicator test will occur Friday, March 13, starting at 9:30 a.m. Allow 3 to 4 hours. The test will be administered by staff of the Department of Environmental Conservation. Those taking the test should bring a separate check made out to DEC for $50 on the day of the exam, plus a letter of experience from ones employer.

There will be no certification credits offered and attendees must show prior experience. Each participant will need the Core Manual and Catagory Manual. Contact the CCE office to receive a copy. For more information, call 331-8415.
