Volunteer Wednesdays at Museum of Wayne County History LYONS - The Wayne County Historical Society's Museum of Wayne County History is turning Wednesdays into Museum Volunteer Wednesdays. Some of the projects that the museum is looking for volunteers for is the Heritage Garden. The museum is looking for a person to take on the role of Heritage Garden tender. Two years ago, the museum added a 19th-century herb garden on the south side of the museum. The 18 specimens in the garden are chamomile, tansy, lavender, calendula, borage, mint, ladys mantle, bee balm, yarrow, lemon balm, tarragon, dill, thyme, echinacea, sage, parsley, sensitive plant and rosemary. Most of these perennials re-seed every year, and this garden needs to be pruned and periodically weeded. Other projects is cleaning up the exhibition space and artifacts in the barn, detail work to rearrange artifacts and office work. The first Museum Volunteer Wednesday will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 4 and will continue each Wednesday that follows. For more information, call 946-4943 or visit www.waynehistory.org. Copyright
