Winter activities in Wayne County LYONS - There is plenty to do in Wayne county during the winter season. For the outdoor enthusiasts, fishing is available on the surrounding bays. Check the fishing update by calling 946-5466 or by visiting www.waynecountytourism.com. Information about fishing, as well as what fish are biting this season are available. Numerous snowmobile trails are open to the public in Wayne County. Call 946-5469 for a free trail map. Or, contact a local snowmobile club. Brantling Ski and Snowboard Center, located at 4015 Fishfarm Road in Sodus, is open. Call 331-2365 for snow report and conditions or visit www.brantling.com. The following Wayne county winter events are scheduled: - Jan. 17- The Comedy Bordello Showcase will feature Steve, the Nuclear Guy. at 8:30 p.m. at Capizzos Sports Bar and Restaurant at 2454 Ridge Road in Ontario. Tickets are $8 at the door and $6 in advance. For more information, visit www.stevethenuclearguy.com - Jan. 24 - The fourth annual Vegas Night will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Palmyra Moose Lodge at 3808 Route 31 in Palmyra. Participants can play a variety of Vegas games. A silent auction will include plane tickets, MGM Grand Hotel prize and more. Hors d'oeuvres and desserts will be served. Cash bar. A live auction will end the evening. Vegas Night benefits the American Red Cross Wayne County Chapter. Tickest are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Three categories of fish will be included, walleye, perch and pike. There will be cash winnings, trophies, door prizes, raffles. Proceeds go to the Make A Wish Foundation. Third round will be held March 14-15. - Feb. 14 - Gala Snowflake Sweethearts Ball held at Burnham's Canalside Restaurant at Route 88 in Newark. Overnight accommodations are available at a special price. Gala includes wine tasting, dinner, live music and benefit auction. This is a fundraiser for Cracker Box Palace. Tickets are $100.
