Food Sense NEWARK: Food Sense offers the opportunity to stretch a food budget, by purchasing quality food at a discount. No donated food is used in this program. It's a buying club, so there is no income requirement. Food Sense is available to everyone, everywhere, not just Newark residents. The cost per unit is $15.50 and includes 12 food items, including fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and grocery staples. There are five February specials offered for an additional cost. In addition, if anyone is unable to pick up food, due to age, disability, being shut in or a transportation issue, Newark Rotary can now deliver to those in need of this service. Order dates for February delivery will be as follows: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday up to Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. sharp. Ordering will take place at Catholic Charities at 1141 E. Union St. in Newark. Cash, money orders, food stamps and vouchers are accepted. Food orders may be picked up between 3 and 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension at Route 88 in Newark. For more information, contact Sandy Thomas at 1141 E. Union St. in Newark or call 331-4867 or fax 331- 4918.
