Lake Effect Pony Club gears up Lake Effect Pony Club had its best season ever and is ready to gallop on into 2009. Lake Effect Pony Club is a member the United States Pony Clubs and part of the Western New York region and draws members from Wayne, Ontario and eastern Monroe counties. The club is now accepting new members for the 2009 season. Lake Effect Pony Club was started in 2000 to meet the needs of horse crazy kids in this area. They have grown to become one of the leading pony clubs in the Western New York region. Members have competed successfully in area equine events and qualified for and attended the USPC championship competition in Kentucky and Virginia. They have had members be part of international exchanges to Ireland and England. Pony Club is an educational organization that emphasizes and encourages independent growth and horsemanship of its members. Instruction is offered both on the horse and off the horse. Dismounted meetings will be starting Jan. 31 at Ledgewood Equine Clinic. Mounted meetings will start in late March and continue on into the summer. Lake Effect and the Western New York region offer many clinics for all levels of riding through out the riding season. There are countless opportunities to become part of the equine world through pony club. Membership is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 25. In order to be a member it is suggested that you have access to a horse or pony and trailer and can ride independently at the walk and trot.
