Steps of Faith presents 'Peter Pan' NEWARK - 'Peter Pan: Lessons in Growing UP' is the Steps of Faith Dance Studio's eighth annual recital. This adaptation of 'Peter Pan,' written by Rachael Platt, artistic director, is a high-energy musical theatre production and will be presented 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6 at the Norman Kelley School at 316 W. Miller St. in Newark. Children of all ages - including adults who are kids at heart - are welcome. Admission is free; donations will be accepted. The audience will watch Wendy, played by Platt, of Newark, as she learns that 'not growing up is not so much fun anymore.' The audience will meet good, but boyish, Peter Pan, played by Taylar Main, of Palmyra, and a delightfully moody child named Tinker Belle, played by Becky-Diane Williams, of Newark. They will also love to dislike Captain Hook, played by Pastor Kevin Turner of Solomon's Porch in Newark. The actors will not only interact with each other, but also interact with the narrator - Diane LaValley, acting teacher and director - and the audience. This is an audience-participation play when, at designated times, the audience will be allowed to shout directions to the actors. Each dance class will have a lesson to teach Wendy, Peter, Tinker Belle and Hook with their dances. The entire Steps Missions Team, under the direction of Platt, will dance in Shine, with some of the Steps Mission's Team also dancing as orphans. Platt's praise cheer class will dance the part of the positive people. Larryann Evans' tap and jazz class will tap as Indians and the Mean Nasty Pirates. The Beautiful Indian Princess, Lauren Murray, will dance with her Indian Tribe, her 7- and 8-year-old class, who will also dance as animal orphans. The cute little pirates and the angels will be LaValley's 5- and 6-year-old class. Rebecca Avery's 3- and 4-year-old class will cause Hook much grief as the crocodiles. They will also dance as spiritual fruit. Copyright
