NEWARK - At the Newark High School, Wednesday, May 20, eighty two students from 25 local high schools were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.
The National Technical Honor Society is a non-profit honor organization for outstanding students enrolled in occupational or technical programs. These students have been taking classes and learning career programs through the Wayne-Finger Lakes Board of Cooperative Educational Services.
To be accepted into the society, a student must meet the following criteria: earn an overall grade point average of 90 percent; have an attendance rating of 95 percent; be nominated by an instructor based on dependability, honesty, pride, leadership abilities, good attitude and citizenship. Students must also be endorsed by the Wayne Technical and Career Center principal, as well as their own high school principal. Five students from Marion High School were among those honored: Karilyn Crawley, who is studying culinary arts; Emma Sauer, who is studying cosmetology; Jacklyn Boss, Leah Iannello and Shawn VanderBrook, who are studying the New Visions program, which is geared toward numerous medical fields.
