Red Cross hosts 5K run

NEWARK - The American Red Cross will present the fourth annual market alternatives 2009 5K Run For The Red at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 13. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Central Park Gazebo on Main Street in Newark.

The course is an accurately wheeled 5K (5,000 meter) course. T-Shirts will be given out to the first 125 run/walk entrants. Participants will receive a free raffle ticket that can be used during a raffle drawing for prizes. Free refreshments will be served at the finish line.

An awards ceremony will immediately follow the race. Medals will be given to the top three finishers in each age bracket, as well as a $50 cash prize to the top overall male and female runners. Entry fee is $12 pre-registration, postmarked by June 11 and $15 the day of the race.
