Lyons Heritage Society meets

LYONS - The Lyons Heritage Society will meet 7 p.m. Monday, June 15 at the Hotchkiss Building on Water Street.

Patricia Alena will present a PowerPoint slideshow on the history of the Hotchkiss peppermint industry. The slideshow will describe the business from its beginning and will also stress the importance of the peppermint industry to the economy of Wayne County, and especially the village of Lyons.

Alena is a retired teacher and former Lyons town historian.

The public is welcome.

The Hotchkiss Essential Oil Building is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Many Hotchkiss artifacts and several cases of historical items donated to the Lyons Heritage Society are on display.
