County clerk passport clinic

LYONS - Wayne County Clerk Michael Jankowski announced that a passport clinic will be held at the Palmyra Town Hall from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday June 24. Anyone interested in obtaining their United States Passport is encouraged to attend.

The purpose of these sessions is to assist Wayne County residents in filling out the necessary paperwork to obtain their United States Passports. Processing agents and blank applications will be on hand. Applications may also be obtained prior to the session at the Palmyra Town Clerk's office or downloaded off the Department of State Web site.

'I am pleased and excited that we are able to bring government to the people of western Wayne County, instead of them having to drive to the county clerk's office in Lyons,' said Jankowski. 'I would also like to thank Palmyra Town Supervisor Dave Lyon and Palmyra Town Clerk Lynne Green for helping to make this event possible.'

County Clerk Jankowski said that if people need to apply for a United States passport to apply through the Wayne County office of the county clerk.

'When someone applies for a passport through our office, $25 of the $100 fee remains in Wayne County and is used to reduce local property taxes,' Jankowski said. When a passport is applied for at the Post Office, the entire $100 fee goes to Washington. It only makes sense; keep your money local,' he said.

If anyone has any questions about obtaining a United States Passport or anything to do with the office of the County Clerk, call Jankowski at 946-7470 or e-mail mjankowski@co.wayne.ny.us.
