Be Creative @ your library this summer WILLIMASON - Statistics prove that kids who participate in library activities keep their reading skills sharp and keep on learning. So, each year libraries team up for a statewide effort to provide just the thing to entice students to the library over the summer. With this summer's theme, 'Be creative @ your library,' library staffers have gotten a head start by creatively planning a great array of programs and activities to keep everyone happy. The Friends of the Library sponsor many of the events. Beginning June 29, all ages are invited to join in the fun. Dress up for a 'Fancy Nancy' party; watch just-released movies in 3-D; tie-dye a T-shirt; learn to draw cartoon characters; make ice cream or candy sushi; watch an artist carve with a chain saw; read to some very special dogs; create crafts. There are prizes, prizes, prizes for summer readers, too. And if that's not enough, musical comedian Jim Cruise - The Spoon Man - will entertain with his creative and silly use of flatware. Teens will also have a chance to express themselves at the library this summer - by reading to win a fabulous shopping spree, rocking it out with Rock Band 2, creating a unique Harry Potter poster just in time to win movie tickets to the newest Harry Potter movie. The fun isn't just for the kids. Adults can play along with a creative trivia contest. Prizes just for enjoying all the library has to offer? Why not! There are so many ways to be creative @ the Williamson Free Public Library this summer. Visit the library at 6380 Route 21 in the Williamson Town Complex to get a full list of all the fun or visit www.WilliamsonFreePublicLibrary.blogspot.com. Some events require pre-registration.
