SUBMITTED PHOTO NEWARK - Lloyd Parker of Parker Nursery displays his homegrown annuals and vegetables at the Newark Farmers Market, open from 2:30 until 6 p.m. every Thursday. The market, featuring Wayne County grown or produced goods, is held at Newark Firemen's Field off of Westshore Boulevard on Barker Parkway. The market is 'going green and giving back' with reusable bags. Customers who take a non-perishable food donation will receive a reusable grocery bag. All food donations are given to the Newark Food Closet. This is a season-long promotion, sponsored by several local businesses and organizations. SNAP, Food Stamps recipients will again be able to use their EBT cards at the market. New this year, credit and debit cards may also be used at the market. The Newark Market is now on Facebook.
