Going places with Girl Scouts

Girls, both members and non-members, can join summer camp with the Girl Scouts. Camp is a great place to have fun, make new friends and learn new skills, such as swimming, paddling a canoe, going for a hike, dancing, cooking, making jewelry, learning about plants and animals in the area and much more.

Camp is a place where girls learn to live and work with others, while preparing for challenges of everyday life. With the guidance of skilled staff, campers even help plan their own program each week. Girl Scouts summer camping programs are located in three areas.

At Comstock Program Center on Cayuga Lake, north of Ithaca, day camp sessions run weekly from July 6 through 24. Fee is $150 per week. Non-members add $15 to each session. Before and after care is available for an additional fee.

At Misty Hollow Program Center, near Corning, day camp sessions run from July 27 to August 14. Girls will enjoy riding horses and many other regular camp activities. A resident camp program is also available at Misty in early July for girls in grades 4 through 12.

At Yaiewano Program Center, on the east side of Owasco Lake south of Auburn, many overnight sessions are offered for girls, such as CSYai, where girls will solve a mystery; Bod Squad where action games are front and center; Club Owasco, where girls relax in a resort-like week of fun; and Coast Girls, where girls can learning sailing. There are more sessions to choose from, including four-day programs.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
