Be creative at the Macedon Public Library

MACEDON - The New York State Summer Reading theme is 'Be Creative at your Library'. The Macedon Public Library will host weekly classes and crafts in crocheting, sign language, scrap art and more. It has also hired a professional magician/clown to teach a 'Clowning Around' workshop, and kids can learn about bees from the Master Gardeners of Wayne County and about bats from a self-proclaimed batphile. The library will be visited by magician Jim Bush, the exciting raptors of Wild Wings and, all the way from Michigan, the Spoon Man.

The library will also continue its standard programs of story time and crafts.

Monday at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. is a 45-minutes program for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds. Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. is an hour-long program for those students entering kindergarten or first grade. Wednesdays at 3 p.m. is Wacky Wednesdays, one hour of fun for those entering second through fifth grade. Coloring and activity sheets will be handed out for prizes.

The library will also host its Newbery Challenge. Children who read six Newbery winner or honor books throughout the summer will be rewarded with a book and pizza party sponsored by Reliant Federal Credit Union.

The program begins July 6. To register, stop by the library between June 22 and July 3 to register.
