Chicken meals for Skyler's wheels

ONTARIO - Help raise money for a wheelchair accessible van for Skyler Hill, by attending a chicken barbecue, provided by Stoney's Country Barbecue, from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at the Ontario Firemens Exempt Hall at Route 104 in Ontario. There will also be a silent auction, a 50\50 raffle and outside games.

Skyler is a 3-year-old girl from Williamson, who has overcome much in the past few years. Born Dec. 7, 2005, she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, an abnormal function in the brain, a heart defect and use of only one lung. At one month, she under went surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital to place a shunt in her brain to bypass the problems she was having. After a long six-month stay in the hospital, she traveled to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to further evaluate her heart defect.

Then, July 24, 2006, she had open heart surgery to repair her ventricle septal defect. After surgery, she lost blood flow to the cervical levels of her spinal cord, which has left her a ventilator dependent quadriplegic. She has minimum movement to her arms and no movement or feeling in her legs.

Skyler has been through so much and still seems to smile. She just received a new wheelchair, because she's growing so fast. Due to her growing, the chair is bigger and barely fits into her mother's current vehicle. They are looking into purchasing a wheelchair accessible van.

Donations can be made in care of Skyler Hill to the Lyons National Bank Ontario office at 6256 Furnace Road in Ontario, 14519.
