History, up close and personal

PALMYRA - Discover little known facts and firsts that happened right here in this area, when the country was a new frontier. Learn about heroic women and men that made a mark in the history of American and the world.

What is the connection between Palmyra and storm warnings and the weather service? How about the connection between Palmyra and royalty; Gettysburg; Rochester School for the Deaf; Sampson Naval Base and State Park; cigars; whales and missionaries; bankers and American Express; scallywags and pirates; tea tree oil?

Historic Palmyra's executive director, Bonnie Hays, will present a program on all those questions and more at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at Village Bookmarket at 207 E. Main St. in Palmyra.
