Respite services

LYONS - With summer approaching, the Wayne County Nursing Home has two beds set aside for respite care of short-term stays.

The beds are designed specifically to allow caregivers of the chronically ill some time for a vacation or other break. The staff temporarily supports the caregiver's role in caring for a patient, who lives in the community and needs 24-hour care or supervision. The caregiver is expected to resume care after the respite, generally fewer than 13 days.

The rooms are furnished with a television hooked up to cable, local phone service and have storage space for clothing and personal belongings. Staff will assist with personal care and administering medication, as needed.

Dining services are designed to be as close to home cooking as possible. Meals are served restaurant style in the dining room, with the ability to choose food preferences. A snack requested off hours can be accommodated.

There is plenty of opportunity for social gatherings and recreational programs, while staying.

For more information, call the admission coordinator at 946-5673.
