Red Cross recruits disaster service assistant

LYONS - The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross has recruited VISTA member Gabrielle Soyring to assist in local disaster services.

She will be recruiting and training teams of volunteers to open shelters in the event of a local disaster. Those who know of a group that could qualify as a shelter team are asked to contact the chapter office at 331-3786 for more information.

The grant given by the Wal-Mart Foundation and the VISTA position will allow the Wayne County Chapter to train as many as 12 teams.
