NEWARK - The Newark Public Library announces summer programs.
- Teen time is every Friday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for teens sixth grade and up.

July 10, Gaming, it's a blast from the past with old and new games alike.

July 17, Come taste test pizza at the pizza taste off. Which pizza is really better? Taste pizza from local pizzerias and make a choice.

July 24, Make something new out of old music. Come to the library to make a CD sun catcher.
-
July 31, Put on a game face. A human card game will be held on the library lawn.

Aug. 7, Be creative with old clothes make them fun again. Hand-me-downs are welcome.
-
Aug. 14, Come out and get lost in Japanese culture. Make candy sushi and watch Japanese Anime.

Readers' Theatre is every Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. from July 8 to Aug. 12. This includes a one-night only performance Friday, August 21. Participants choose the play, design the set, make costumes, and put on the show.

- Harry Potter summer @ Newark Public Library. This summer the library is all about Harry, as the opening of 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' movie July 15 is anticipated.

Reading contest. Starting June 1, students in third grade and up can sign up for the reading contest.
Visit www.newarklibrary.blogspot.com., click on the link for online reading program. Read any book, then review it online for a chance to win the grand prize of two tickets to Showplace 6 in Newark to see 'The Half Blood Prince.' Additional prizes will be awarded. Winners will be notified the week of July 13.
- Movie Marathon for everyone. The first five Harry Potter movies will be shown in order during the first two weeks of July at 2 p.m. One movie will be shown on each of the following days: Monday, June 29; Monday, July 6; Tuesday, July 7, Thursday, July 9; and Monday, July 13. - Every Tuesday is craft day from 2 to 3 p.m. for kids in grades k through 5.

July 14, Create a band. Make three different musical instruments and then play music.

July 21, Make mosaic designs from ordinary paper and glue.

July 28, Paint monsters, eek, cute or scary, out of paint. (warning, very messy)

Aug. 4, Make a string craft bookmark out of string and sticky glue. (warning, very messy)

Aug. 11, Come do junk weaving. Weave string, yarn, ribbons and all kinds of odds and ends into a unique piece of art.

July 6, Expand creativity and flexibility with Mind/Body/Soul Yoga from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For third grade and up.

July 13, Be creative and expressive with dance with Emily Howard from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For third grade and up.

July 27, Learn the art of hand puppetry with Ron Kirsop from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For kindergarten to third grade.

Aug. 3, Read em and weep with giant playing cards on the library lawn. Come with a straight face from 2 to 3 p.m. For third grade through fifth.

- Story Time every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. for children ages 2 to 5.
- Special story time event, Tuesday, July 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. for ages 2 to 5. Bring a favorite Teddy Bear or other fluffy friend to the Teddy Bears' Picnic. Enjoy stories, songs, snacks and crafts all about Teddy Bears.
- Special story time event, Tuesday, July 28 from 10 to 11 a.m. for ages 2 to 5. Listen to stories about painting, enjoy a colorful snack and create a work of art to take home.
