Area youth earn medals

MARION - Alexandria Alex Ford and Victor Bacon brought home bronze medals in individual Class D air rifle competition at the American Legion Junior Shooting Sports marksmanship match held Feb. 28 in Cicero.

In their first-ever match, and after only three months into the local junior shooting sports program, Ford and Bacon, in addition to teammates Jennie Bristol, Felicia Stevens, Noah Stevens and Jim Tuttle placed a respectable ninth out of 14 competing teams.

The program is designed for youth ages 12 to 18 years of age and emphasizes shooting safety, marksmanship skills and techniques and promotes team building.

The Marion Memorial Marksmen welcome any interested area youth to participate. Information is available by calling Kevin Southcott at 576-6382 or the Marion American Legion at 926-5571.
