Pennies for Polio campaign kicks off

NEWARK - The Newark Rotary Club has responded to Rotary's United States $100 Million Challenge 2008-2010 to eradicate polio by sponsoring Pennies for Polio.

This program seeks to educate and involve local school children on the work that Rotary International is undertaking worldwide to eliminate of polio. Rotarians Frank All, Bob Goodman, Mitch Ruffalo, Julieta Meji-Trejos and Linda Werts will kick off the two-week campaign with school children Monday, March 23, with completion scheduled for Friday, April 3. Teachers and parents will receive information about how school children can participate.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will be matching donations dollar for dollar.
