Erie Canal exhibit closes April 1 NEWARK - The Newark-Arcadia Historical Society's exhibit on the Erie Canal, 'The Ditch That Made Newark Rich,' closes April 1. The exhibit includes many rare photographs, an 1830 map of Newark showing The Grand Canal, a panoramic photo of canal construction through Newark in 1913, a model of an inclined plane lock, artwork and much more. The exhibit opened June 2008 at the Newark-Arcadia Museum at 120 High St. (across from the Newark Public Library). The museum is open from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays and other times by appointment.
