Photo Contest Winners Announced

The Newark-Arcadia Historical Society's 4th Annual "A Day in the Life of Newark & Arcadia" photo contest, which actually took place during the course of a weekend, was held Jan. 24-25, 2009. 19 photographers participated, submitting 50 outstanding 10 x 12" photos.

The photographs will be on display at the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society, open Saturdays 1-3 p.m., through April. Thanks to Wayne Williams and Karl Joyce for judging. The winners in six categories, and best of show:

  • Best of Show - Karen Bedette's "Mud Mills Ice Water"
  • Historic (over 50 yrs. old) - 1. Linda Tynon, 2. Jeffery Stalker, 3. Nancy Brevet
  • Creative - Experimental - Black & White - 1. Virginia Stoops, 2. Richard C. Booth, 3. Barb Chappell
  • Scenic - Landscapes - 1. Nancy Brevet, 2. Becky Bialaszewski, 3. Sue Welcher
  • People - Animals - Action - 1. Shana Diehl, 2. Don Schiltz, 3. Maurice Strobridge
  • Junior - 1. Theresa Dewa
  • Professional - 1. John Zornow

The next N-AHS photo contest will be held in Spring 2010.
