Mother's Day Tea at the Howe House

PHELPS - The Howe House Museum, at 66 Main St. in Phelps, will be serving traditional English tea at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, May 9. Sponsored by Big M in Clifton Springs, Wegmans of Newark and Tops of Geneva, the event is an afternoon tea served in the Victorian fashion, with all the amenities of a traditional English tea, including cucumber-egg and chicken salad sandwiches, deviled eggs, orange and lemon cookies, almond puffs, strawberries with cream and handmade chocolates.

Hats and white gloves will be available or attendees can wear their own. Calling cards - the tickets - will be used to introduce attendees. Weather permitting, croquet will be available following tea.

The cost is $7 for girls ages 5 to 11, and $10 for women and girls ages 12 and older. The limit is 30 guests at each serving time. Calling cards will be mailed upon receipt of payment.

The event will be presented by Phelps Community Historical Society.
