Lady Reds honored

NEWARK - The Newark Lady Reds basketball team was honored by Arcadia Supervisor Dick Colacino and the Board of Supervisors for winning the Wayne County League, Section V,Western Regional and New York State Class A Championship titles. Colacino presented a framed copy of the proclamation to head coach Diane Kirnie and players Alyssa Fenyn, Sarah Tanea, Kira Lauer, Shakista Woolfolk, Heather Virts, Marissa Bunce, Maddy Amo, Rachel MacBride, Jessica Graham, Nikki Clark, Maggie VanKouwenberg, Amanda Robson, Brynn Lauer, Allison Miller and Sabrina Macaulay. The team has 'demonstrated strong athletic ability, team spirit and a consolidated team effort throughout the basketball season to lead their team to a Class A state title,' the proclamation stated. Fenyn was reconized for being named Class A Player of the Year; Kirnie was recognized for being named Class A Coach of the Year.
