NEWARK - Richard Kraus had to wait five months for his new car, but said 'it was worth it.' The 61-year-old Palmyra man took delivery of his long-awaited 2010 Chevrolet Camaro from Mike Barnard Chevrolet at West Union Street in Newark Saturday. It's the dealership's first copy, a Silver Ice coupe.

'I ordered the car in October and was told that mine would be the 85th built at the Oshawa, Ontario, plant,' Kraus said.

Having owned several Camaro's during the last 30 years, the retired Palmyra Post Office employee is excited about his latest purchase, equipped with a V-8 engine and rear-wheel drive.

'I am planning to hit the shows, starting with the Log Cabin in Macedon and Newark's Tom Wahl's and others,' said Kraus, who has been assembling accessories and posters to display with the car.

When asked if he planned to drive it in the winter, he replied, 'Absolutely not,' adding that it won't be driven in rain either, if he can help it.

According to GM officials, with 14,000 orders in hand, production started on the 2010 Camaro in March.

This is the first since 2002. According to 'Automotive News,' it blends retro design of the musclecar era with modern gadgetry, combining 1969 design cues with contemporary features, to appeal to the young at heart.
