Five schools celebrate TV turn-off

Five elementary schools in Wayne County were awarded mini-grants from Eat Well Play Hard Community Projects, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County, for television turn-off projects.

Clyde Elementary School purchased two inflatable kayaks to expand 'Aquatic Week'; Macedon Elementary School purchased five sets of tinikling poles for its project, 'Why TV when you can Tininkle'; Marion Elementary School purchased family passes to the Strong Museum of Play as incentives for children and families to participate in TV turn-off activities held the beginning of April; Palmyra Elementary School purchased a Viore 32-inch HDTV to use for Dance Dance Revolution and other exercise DVDs as part of celebrating TV turn-off and 'Jump Rope for Heart' activities; Perkins Elementary School in Newark purchased five sets of Super Loop Target GameFrisbee golf for one of many of the TV turn-off activities.
