Pianists present concert at Stillwood PALMYRA - There will be a concert of music for duo pianos 4 p.m. May 17 at Stillwood Study Center at 2191 Shilling Road in Palmyra. The concert, performed by pianists Rob Kerner and Helvi McClelland, is free and open to the public. It should run until about 5:30 p.m. The program will include rarely performed pieces by Vivaldi, Bach, Brahms, Mozart and Grieg. Kerner, the organist and music director at Lake Avenue Baptist Church in Rochester, received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in music from Syracuse University. Previously, he was the organist and music director at May Memorial Unitarian Society in Syracuse, musical director of the Syracuse Chamber Singers and harpsichordist for the Baroque instrumental ensemble Musica da Camera. Kerner has performed as a harpsichordist and organist with the Skaneateles Festival, The Syracuse Camerata, The Pittsford Camerata, The Rochester Chamber Orchestra, The Rochester Bach Festival, the Ithaca Bach Festival, the Genesee Early Music Society and New York State Baroque. Primarily a collaborative pianist, McClelland received a bachelor's degree in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Orazio Frugoni and Maria Luisa Faini. Much of her collaborative work involves playing two-piano and four-hand works with other pianists and accompanying singers and instrumentalists. She was the sound recordings librarian at Eastman's Sibley Music Library before leaving Rochester to attend Yale Law School, from which she received her degree in 1981. Since 1989, she has worked as an attorney-mediator. For more information, call (585) 387-9291. Copyright
