Memorial Day ceremony scheduled

NEWARK - A Memorial Day ceremony will be held May 24 in Newark. The parade will from 1 p.m. on West Shore Boulevard and the parade will begin at 1:30 p.m., ending in Central Park. The ceremony will start at 2 p.m.

The site in case of inclement weather will be Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2883.

Memorial Day essay contest winners will be announced. The Newark High School Band will perform. Refreshments will be available afterwards at the VFW Post No. 2883 and American Legion Post No. 286.

Upcoming events include:

• POW/MIA Day, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 in Central Park.
• Veterans Day, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in Central Park.
