Upcoming events support Relay For Life

MACEDON - The American Cancer Society is striving to ultimately eliminate cancer as a major health threat.

ALPCO Recycling is one of the companies that is getting behind this goal and supports the American Cancer Society in a number of ways.

ALPCO Recycling is a long-term supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Relay For Life event that takes place June 5 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Palmyra.

This year, ALPCO will have a Relay For Life team and host a petting zoo fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 16 at ALPCO Recycling at Route 31F in Macedon, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

Some of the other Wayne County businesses that have taken up the charge in the fight against cancer through the Palmyra Relay event include:

• Garlock will host a community craft and business bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 at the Newark Middle School. There will also be a chicken barbecue.
• Constellation Energy has come on board with a Silver Level sponsorship of the event, as well as a new Relay team.
• JRLON has sponsored a street banner for the Relay For Life and has a Relay team.
• Macedon Veterinary Care has a Relay team
• WalMart in Newark will have a new Relay team and is also a Silver Level sponsor of the event.
• Newark-Wayne Community Hospital has a Relay team and the president of NWCH, Annette Leahy, is scheduled to speak during the Relay's opening ceremony.

The American Cancer Society serves more than one million cancer patients annually through patient services programs and awareness efforts.
