'Only Angels Have Wings' LYONS - 'Only Angels Have Wings' is the next movie in the Lyons Main Street Program's 1939 Retrospective Series. It will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at 7 p.m. at the Ohmann Theatre at 65 William St. in Lyons. Director of the movie Howard Hawks deserves a retrospective series all his own, having made such classic films as 'Bringing Up Baby,' 'Sergeant York,' 'His Girl Friday' and 'To Have and Have Not.' The setting for 'Angels' is a small South American town where Cary Grant and his team are running an air mail service. As if challenging the Andes isn't enough, the drama escalates, when showgirl Jean Arthur and Grant's old flame Rita Hayworth both arrive on the scene. Critics have made the following comments: perfection that defies scrutiny;' 'one of the sublime action movies of the era;' 'a quintessential adventure-aviation film with drama, dark fatalism, suspense and romance that is stocked with true-to-life sequences.' Tickets are $5 for adults; $4 seniors; $3 under 13. Copyright
