Husner, William Edward - William Edward Husner, 80, of Lyons, died June 25, 1998 at his home. Mr. Husner was born in Lyons Dec. 31, 1917, the son of Edward and Anna Lutz Husner. He worked in his early years for the New York Central Railroad, and retired from the Newark Developmental Center as a cook. Mr. Husner was a veteran of World War II where he served in the army, and was a prisoner in Germany during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 5092 of Lyons, and the American Legion of Lyons. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Mr. Husner is survived by four brothers, Carl of Lyons, Roy of Lock Berlin, George of Clyde, and Harry of Sodus; four sisters, Bertha Baker of Independence, MO, Mrs. Wilson (Dorothy) Keesler of Newark, Mrs. Michael (Anna) Salerno of Lyons, Mrs. Russell (Elizabeth) Moody of Spring Lake, NC; nieces and nephews.

Ketcham, Jane C. - Mrs. Ketcham, the former Elsie Jane Chase, died unexpectedly on June 12, 1998 in Seattle. She and her husband Alfred S. Ketcham M.D. were on an Alaskan tour celebrating their 52nd anniversary. Jane spent her first 21 years in Newark and was the daughter of Gilmer and Mildred Chase. She is survived by her husband; 6 children, 10 grandchildren.

Hironimus, Ronnie G. - Ronnie G. Hironimus, 51, died in Dover, Delaware. He was a teacher for 23 years, and was the Capital School District 1997 Teacher of the Year. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Schlagel Hironimus; brother, Larry of Marion; sister, Dawn Bothnell of Smyrna, DE.

Frederick, Joseph - Joseph Frederick, 73, of East Miller Street, Newark, died on June 28, 1998, at Genesee Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Frederick was born July 30, 1924 in Rochester, the son of Alfred and Louise Mosca. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986. Joe was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Newark Elks Lodge and the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW. He served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theater. Interment in the Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Ann (Cill) Frederick, son Joseph D. Frederick, a daughter Rozanne Frederick of Newark and a grandson Mark Frederick. Also surviving is a brother, Nicholas Frederick of Chicago, and nieces and nephews.

Deary, Gerald J. Sr. - Gerald J. Deary Sr., 57, of Savannah, died unexpectedly on June 26, 1998 at his residence. Mr. Deary was born in Seneca Falls on Nov. 8, 1940, son of the late George and Edna Miller Deary. He lived in Savannah for the past year, having moved from Newark. He had at one time been employed by Kleen Brite Lab of Brockport. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterloo. Mr. Deary is survived by his wife, Joyce Ingersoll Deary of Savannah, whom he married Nov. 24, 1959; two daughters, Tamie Deary of Clyde and Mrs. Carie (Michael) Kickbush of Medina; four sons, Gerald (Connie) Deary of Newark, Mark Deary of Clyde, Wayne Deary of Savannah, and Trevor Deary of Savannah; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Jean (Robert) Duffy of Palatine, IL, Mrs. June (Merle) Hamon of Port Smith, NH, and Mrs. Gayle (Tom) Canull of Waterloo; three brothers, Frederick Deary of Seneca Falls, James Deary of Lantana, FL, and John (Mary) Deary of Coventry, RI; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Shirley DeJohn and Marian Smith.

Fecteau, Dorothy M. - Dorothy M. Fecteau, 74, of Gates/Newark, died on June 29, 1998. Dorothy was a member of the Women's Bowling League of Rochester for more than 20 years. Interment at Riverside Cemetery Rochester. She is survived by her husband, LaVerne Fecteau of FL; her daughters, Catherine Salber of East Palmyra, and Dorothy Matteson; her sons, Donald Fecteau of FL and Thomas (Donna) Fecteau of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; one greatgrandson; her sister, Catherine Lambiase; her brother, Joseph (Fran) Crawford; many nieces and nephews.

Ritz, Eleanor M. - Eleanor M. Ritz, 74, of Wayne Center Road, South Sodus, died unexpectedly on June 28, 1998, at Via Health of Wayne at Sodus. Mrs. Ritz was born in Hamlin, NY, Feb. 3, 1924, a daughter of Andrew and Marie Flugel Ferris. She was a graduate of Brockport High School in 1942, an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lyons, and had been an area resident for over 40 years. Mrs. Ritz is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gustav; four sons, Douglas (Patricia) of South Sodus, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) of Kansas, Timothy of Lyons, and Daniel (Evelyn) of Newark; three grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Joan) Ferris of Florida, and James (Jan) Ferris of Hamlin; sister-in-law, Ruby Ferris of Rochester, several nieces and nephews.

Chamberlin, Rose Louise - Rose Louise Chamberlin, 88, of Dell Street, Newark, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at her home. Mrs. Chamberlin was born in Batavia on November 7, 1909, daughter of Conrad and Rose Fetzer Schroth. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Donald, Robert, William (Edyie) of Newark, Richard (Melanie) of Rochester; two daughters, June Smith of Newark, and Jean (Leonard) Randow of Port Aransas, TX; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Lester) Beal of Newark, and Clarice Chamberlin of Dansville; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chamberlin was predeceased by her husband, Harold (Pike), Dec. 9, 1981.

Swartz, Kathleen H. - Kathleen H. Swartz, 38, of Newark, died Saturday, June 20, 1998 at Via Health of Newark. Kathleen was born in Newark on February 10, 1960, daughter of Gerald and Dorothy Vanderlycke Norrison. She had worked at IEC in Newark. She attended the Church of God in Newark. Kathleen is survived by Jerry, her husband of 20 years; three stepdaughters, Wendy Stapp of Kentucky, Lori Taney and Cheryl Swartz of Newark; her mother, Dorothy Norrison of Levinworth, KS; three sisters, Maria (Mark) Young of Clifton Springs, Vicky (James) Stewart and Jo Ann (Paul) Carabello of Newark; two brothers, Alan (Janet) Norrison, and Nelson (Belva) Norrison of Newark; several step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Shippers, Helen G. - Helen G. Shippers, 85, formerly of Wolcott, died Saturday, June 20, 1998 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Helen was born February 2, 1913, in Junius, the daughter of Eugene and Ethel Scott Groescup, and had lived in Wolcott for many years. She was retired from Hickok Manufacturing in Lyons, and was formerly a member of Wayne County Extension Program, Wolcott American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Wolcott Grange, and Wolcott Methodist Church. Interment at Restvale Cemetery, Seneca Falls. Helen is survived by two sons, Eugene (Fan) Shippers of Newark and Lee (Teresa) Shippers of Wolcott; a daughter and friend, Karen Massaro and Robert Schaefer of Jeffersonville, NY; a sister, Joan (William) Pulcheon of Phelps; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Zeger, Ralph J. - Ralph J. Zeger, 78, of Sodus, died on June 19, 1998 at Myers Hospital, Sodus. Interment, Sodus Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth; 3 children, Barbara (Daniel) DeRue, Gary (Mary) Zeger both of Sodus, Lorna Zeger of Port St. Lucie, FL; 5 grandchildren, Nicole and Adam DeRue, Christopher, James and Alexandra Zeger.

Roelands, Priscilla - Priscilla Roelands, 53, of Newark died Saturday, June 20, 1998 in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. Priscilla was predeceased by her husband, William Roelands in 1988, and her sister, Marion Barnes. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Julie) Roelands of Newark; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Roelands Bartel of Illinois; two brothers, Ed (Bonnie) Cooney of Newark and Roy (Judy) Cooney of Oklahoma; a sister, Barb Peters of Belfort, NY; one grandson, Jarrod Roelands; two stepgrandchildren, Ross and Beth Bartel; several neices and nephews and a very special friend, John Schoonerman of Newark.

Bundy, Leonard F. - Leonard F. Bundy, 72, of 2168 Brandt Road, Lot 6, Lyons, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Mr. Bundy was born in Suffern, NY, March 12, 1926, son of the late Rev. Leon F.E. and Ida Haver Bundy. He resided in Lyons for most of his life. Mr. Bundy was retired from Sybron-Nalge of Rochester. Prior to that, he worked for 16 years at Parker-Hannifin in Lyons. Interment at the Butler Center Cemetery. Mr. Bundy is survived by his wife, Alma Wunder Bundy of Lyons, whom he married April 9, 1982; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline (Gordon) Frezzell of Williston, VT, and Patricia Schneider of Penn Yan; two sons, William L. (Kim) Bundy of Arlington, TX, and Leonard (Colleen) Bundy Jr. of Greer, SC; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Frieda (Loren) Spencer of Lyons, and Mrs. Rita (John) Mitchinson of Newark: two stepsons, Louis O'Neil of Lyons, and Leon (Ann) O'Neil of Newark: 22 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lottie L. Bundy in February of 1977; brother, Leonidas Bundy in August of 1987; and sister, Marjorie Switzer, in 1967.

Scrooby, Joseph M. Sr. - Joseph M. Scrooby Sr. of Marion, quietly entered into eternal rest at home on June 22, 1998 at age 81. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Predeceased by infant sons, Charles & Timothy. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Lottie (Urbanik) Scrooby; children, Joseph (Becky), Richard, Diane (Tom) Smith, Fred (Maureen), Gary (Thomas), Terry (Roxanne) Thomas (Susanne), Michael (Kimberly); 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Parkhouse and Leona Wehner; many nieces, nephews & friends.

Rielly, Jean O. - Jean O. Rielly, 74, of Washington Street, Newark, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at ViaHealth of Wayne at Newark. Mrs. Rielly was born in Utica, Dec., 7, 1923, daughter of Frederick and Louise Ebeling O'Dell. She worked in the office of Rando Machine Company in Macedon. She had lived in Newark for many years. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, William A., April 9, 1994. Mrs. Rielly is survived by nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and many friends.

Blake, Helen E. - Helen E. Blake, 84, of Geneva, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at the home of her son in Newark. Mrs. Blake was born May 31, 1914, in Bradford, NY, the daughter of the late Wendell and Lizzie W. Carr Runner. Mrs. Blake retired from the J.C. Penney Store in Geneva. She also owned and operated her own seamstress and monogramming business for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Geneva and of the Ruth Circle. Interment in Gorham Cemetery.She was the widow of Harold Alfred Blake, who died in 1956. Mrs. Blake was also predeceased by her daughter, Joanne E. Wilkison in 1976, her sister, Mildred Lambert in 1963, and brother, Arthur Runner in 1972. Mrs. Blake is survived by two sons, Gerald A. (Victoria Smith) Blake of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kenneth E. (Lynda Akins) Blake of Newark; one son-in-law, Thomas H. Wilkison of Severn, MD; two grandchildren, Gerald Thomas Blake of Newark, and Andrew H. Wilkison of New Brunswick, NJ; two brothers, Francis (Clarabelle) Runner and Stewart Runner of Gorham, NY; one sister-in-law, Marge Runner of Stanley, NY; several nieces and newhews.

DeRue, Michelle Lynn - Michelle Lynn DeRue, 31, of Buffalo, died Saturday, June 13, 1998 at her parent's home after a brief illness. Michelle was born the daughter of Gerald and Mary Schoonerman DeRue on August 17, 1966 in Newark. She loved playing basketball and her picture hangs in the college where she attended for scoring over 1000 points. Michelle worked for Lighthart Sales in Buffalo, NY.Family and friends called Monday, June 15, at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. Michelle is survived by her parents, Gerald and Mary DeRue and brother David DeRue of Fairville; her sister, Eileen (Paul) Welker of Clifton Springs; her paternal grandmother, Carrie DeRue; her nephews Bradly and Ryan Welker; and three aunts.

Berard, Lena V. - Lena Verbridge Berard, 91, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Berard was born the daughter of Daniel and Katherine VanHaneghan Verbridge, August 3, 1906 in East Palmyra. She worked at C.H. Stuart Co. in Newark as a secretary for 34 years, retiring in 1967. Interment at East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmond Berard in 1984, and two brothers George and William Verbridge.

Bavis, Etta M. - Etta M. Bavis, age 85, died June 13, 1998. She was born in Walworth on September 7,1913 to Elmer and Sarah Smith Bristol. Mrs. Bavis was a retired Walworth Post Mistress. Interment in Furnaceville Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray in 1968. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Pam Bavis of Walworth; grandchildren, Angela Bavis of Columbia, SC and 2nd Lieutenant Jeffrey (Lara) Bevis, Fayetteville, NC; great-grandson, Matthew Bevis; a sister, Eva Bevis, Palmyra; several nieces and nephews.

McCartney, Richard L. - Richard L. McCartney, 71, of Lincoln Road, Newark, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. McCartney was born May 7, 1927 in Clearfield, PA. Dick was a licensed practical nurse at the Newark Developmental Center for 29 years, retiring in 1981. He was member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons and was a member of the Odd Fellows in Newark. He served in the US Navy during World War II and with the Army Reserve in Newark for several years after the War. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Doris (Wunder) of Newark, a daughter Sharon (Gary) Rothfuss of Palmyra and three grandchildren Charles Thomas, Heather Thomas and Marygrace Rothfuss. He was predeceased by his mother, Sarah Lois Shaffner on September 5, 1991.

Wilkes, Stella J. - Stella J. Wilkes, 68, of Canal Street, Lyons, died June 4, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mrs. Wilkes was born in Newark, January 7, 1930, the daughter of Gilbert and Hazel VanNorman. She was a resident of Lyons for many years. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Lyell; a daughter, Clydette (Domingo) Gonzalez of Newark; two grandchildren, Antonio and Sierra Gonzalez; four sisters, Bonnie Larrios of Palmyra, Hazel Arnold of Lyons, Molly VanNorman of California, and Betty Flaherty of Plattsburgh; three brothers, Arthur VanNorman of Marion, Kenneth VanNorman of Sodus, and Gilbert VanNorman of Clyde: several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard VanNorman, and sisters, Lucinda Miles and Clydette VanNorman.

Phillips, Stanley A. - Stanley A. Phillips, age 86, of Marion, died June 6, 1998. Mr. Phillips was a retired Social Studies Teacher - three years in country school in Sterling, 19 years, Marion School System; and 13 years Fairport School System, where he was the head the Social Studies Dept. He was also President of NYS Council of Social Studies 1955-56. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Thelma VanAlstyne; two sons, Richard (Ruth) Phillips of Newark and Thomas (Deborah) Phillips of Marion; grandchildren, Kimberly Duncan, Dan and Lisa Phillips, Randall and Patty Phillips, Cori (Joe) Stapleton and Stacey Phillips; and five great-grandchildren.

Heffron, Edward S. - Edward S. Heffron, 69, of County Road 26, Phelps, died Friday, June 5, 1998 at Geneva General Hospital. Mr. Heffron was born in Hopewell, and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was the son of the late Linus and Katharine Mahan Heffron. Mr. Heffron was a member of Local 832 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Francis Church. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery, Phelps. Bearers were James Heffron, Brian Heffron, James Heffron, Jeff Heffron, David Burgess and Edward Burgess. Surviving are three brothers, Linus P. (Mary) Heffron of Phelps, Gerald F. Heffron of Junius, and James J. (Ann) Heffron of Clifton Springs; two sisters, Katharine M. (Harold) Bunce of Clifton Springs, and Margaret E. (John) Burgess of Newark; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Elliott, Nellie H. (Hermenet) - Nellie H. Elliott (Hermenet), 89, of Marion died on June 8, 1998 in Blossom View Nursing Home, Sodus. Interment, Marion Cemetery. Widow of Floyd Elliott, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Jane Wilson of Marion; two grandsons, Tim (Arla) Wilson and Randy Wilson; four great-grandchildren; brother, Michael (Elizabeth) Hermenet of Marion; sisters, Elizabeth DeMeyer of Newark, Anna (Raymond) Rommel of Newark, Elsie (Harold) Norsen of Port Orange, FL, Ruth (James) Cheeseman of Port Orange, FL; nieces and nephews.

Kendrick, Cecelia Louise - Cecelia Louise Kendrick, 90, of High Street, Newark, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998 at the ViaHealth of Wayne in Newark (Newark-Wayne Community Hospital). Mrs. Kendrick was born in Newark April 17, 1908, daughter of Edward and Mary Bomeline DeCook. She was a secretary in her earlier years and typist for the National Gypsum Company in Buffalo. She retired from C.H. Stuart Company of Newark.Interment Newark Cemetery. She is survived by a granddaughter, Sheila Kendrick of Springfield, VT; three sisters, Beatrice Coughlin of Phelps, Ethel George of Mount Dora, FL, and Elizabeth Donk of Auburn; nieces, Kay Mammano of Lyons, and Marueen George of Newark, and other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Paul Edwin Kendrick in 1965.

Pieters, Cornelius J. - Cornelius J. Pieters, 88, of Palmyra and Clifton Springs, died June 10, 1998. Interment Marion Cemetery. He was predeceased by his wife, Leila Davis Pieters; his son, Douglas; brother, Jack and a sister, Geraldine Kemp. He is survived by 3 sons, James (Cynthia) of Clifton Springs, Wayne of Cathedral City, CA, Ronald (Barbara) of Palmyra; daughter-in-law, Nancy Pieters Flowers; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian (Francis) Dean of Vero Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Rowena Breisch, Newark.

Contant, Donald R. - Donald R. Contant, 76, of Palmyra, died on May 31, 1998. He was a World War II Army Veteran and an auto body shop teacher at BOCES of Williamson and Flint. Interment Marion Cemetery. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Cramer. Survived by his niece, Patricia Moshier (Charles) Fagner of Phelps; a cousin, Richard DeCann of Waterloo; and a dear friend Lillian Capron of Palmyra.

Wagner, Robert F. - Robert F. Wagner, 66, of Greig St., Sodus Point, formerly of Rochester and Naples, FL, died at Rochester General Hospital on May 29, 1998. A memorial gathering was held at "Winnie's Waterfront," his home in Sodus Point on May 31. Mr. Wagner was predeceased by his wife, Winnie in 1995. He is survived by four children, Karen E. Wagner of Redway, CA; Stephen R. Wagner of Tampa, FL; Greg D. Wagner of Florence, SC, and Gail D. Wagner of NYC; six grandchildren.

Smith, Norma J. - Norma J. Smith, 71, of East Miller St., Newark, died May 28, 1998 in Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Newark. She was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Fisher Coleman. She had worked for C.H. Stuart Inc., and at Jackson & Perkins; she was retired from the Newark Developmental Center. Interment will be in East Newark Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband Leon in 1979. She is survived by a stepson, Steve Smith of Newark; niece, Carol Flanders; three nephews, Douglas and Dennis Flanders, and Charles Fisher; several cousins, including Betty Austin of Newark.

Case, Nellie G. - Nellie G. Case, 91, long time resident of Newark, and Bradenton, FL, died in Clifton Springs Hospital on May 15, 1998. Mrs. Case was born May 2, 1907, in Canada. She was a retired sales clerk and purchasing manager for Chaffee stores. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 1020 of East Rochester; Amitie Chapter 473; Silver Link Lodge 230; the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Interment in the Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Case is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Clara Williams of Chapin; seven grandchildren: Ann D. Brady of Dover, PA; Jack D. Williams of Kerhonkson; Jonathan A. Williams of Cockeysville, MD; Darryl Williams of Farmington; Paula Chrysler of Manchester; William Nowicki of Bergen; Bruce Weaver of Macedon; 27 great-granchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dorell Weaver and two grandchildren, Douglas Williams and Terry Tuttle.

Plain, Sandra J. - Sandra J. Plain, 48, of Driving Park Circle, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus (Newark-Wayne Community Hospital).Mrs. Plain was born December 8, 1949 in Newark, the daughter of Peter J. and Eleanor Coleman Kraus. Interment in the Fairville Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Ronald, children Marcia (Jeffrey Hubbard), Kerri, Ronald III, Danielle and Matthew Plain; a grandson, Nicholas Hubbard; her mother Eleanor Kraus, all of Newark. Also surviving are two brothers Richard Kraus of Palmyra, and Robert (Tracey) Kraus; nephew, Robert and niece, Tiffany Kraus of Newark.

East, Marian M. - Marian M. East, 70, of Marion, died June 1, 1998. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Gerald R. East; three sons, Gerald Jr. (Patricia) of Marion, Thomas (Mary Beth) of Penfield, and Jeffrey (Robyn) of Palmyra; 6 granddaughters; brother, Alvin (Helen) Moore of Sodus; and sister, Alice Best, of Sanford, FL.

Gentile, Sebastiano - Sebastiano Gentile, 66, of 622 S. Main St., Newark, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at Newark-Wayne Hospital (ViaHealth). Sebastiano was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Taverna, Italy and was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria Durante Gentile. He was a superintendent with the DeFlore Construction Co. of Rochester for many years before his retirement. He was a member of Laborers Local 435 in Rochester, the Sons of Italy Lodge 2397, and St. Francis Church. Entombment in St. Mary's Mausoleum. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rosa Fratto Gentile, who passed away Aug. 30, 1987. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Gentile; sons, Salvatore (Theresa) Gentile of Geneva, Fausto (Terri) Gentile of Ithaca; a daughter, Maria Gentile of Geneva; stepchildren, Francis (Cecile) Ruffalo of Newark, Michael (Anita) Ruffalo of Atlanta, GA, Daniel (Mary Jo) Ruffalo of Charlotte, NC, Anne (Frank) Bullock and Lisa (Bill) Herman, both of Newark; brothers, Domenico (Rita) Gentile, Eugenio (Caterina) Gentile, Romano (Sarina) Gentile, Rosario (Titina) Gentile, and Mario (Lucia) Gentile, all of Italy; a sister, Rosa Vari of Italy; 20 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Antonio.

Waldorf, Maurice "George" - Maurice "George" Waldorf, 86, of Wolcott, died May 18, 1998 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Maurice was born in the town of Huron, on October 22, 1911, a son to Maurice and Lillian Richardson Waldorf, and had been a life long resident of the area, having been self-employed as a watch maker and repairman. Interment at Huron Evergreen Cemetery. He is survived by one son, Maurice G. of Dundee; four daughters, Sandy (Bob) Marshall of Wolcott, Connie (Al) Frank of Newark, Sharon (Charles) Reuss of Arizona and Carol (Allen) Mann of North Carolina; son stepson, Eddie Hall of North Carolina; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Richardson and Joyce Grass, both of North Rose; nieces and nephews.

Pellicano, Peter R. - Peter R. Pellicano, 74, of Davis Drive, Newark, died June 2, 1998 at ViaHealth-Rochester General. Mr. Pellicano was born May 24, 1924 in Canandaigua, the son of Anthony and Mary Muzencca Pellicano. Pete was a barber in Newark for 48 years, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Newark Elks Lodge. For years, Pete was involved with the youth programs of Newark. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Catherine; son, Peter Jr. (Janet) of Newark; daughters, Mary (Andy) Miller of Newark, Ann (David) Hough of Keene, NY; three grandchildren, Sara Pellicano, Katie and Ricky Miller; a sister, Nancy; two brothers, Angelo and Louie Pellicano of Newark; several nieces and nephews.

Quinn, Albert J. - Albert J. Quinn, 73, of Newark died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus (Newark-Wayne Community Hospital). Mr. Quinn was born Nov. 19, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Enos P. and Edna Malone Quinn. He retired in 1990 from Fold-Pak, where he worked for over 40 years as a lithographic plate maker. Al served with the U.S. Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was a member of the Marine Corps League of the Mohawk Valley. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Phelps, with military honors. Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Slade) Quinn; son, William of Gloversville; daughters, Nancy (Gary) Colgrove of Clifton Springs, Patricia (Thomas) Rizzo of Newark, and stepdaughter, Tracy Schiavetta of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Jason Rizzo, Gretchen Alberti, Ginat Rizzo, Angela Rizzo, Jennifer Colgrove, Tisha Sweeney, William A. Quinn, Sarah Quinn; and three great-grandchildren, Cory Quinn, Casey Quinn and Natalie Sweeney; brother, Joseph of North Wales, PA; three sisters, Marian Stmonovitch of Cornwell Heights, PA, Rosemary Morris of Haddon Heights, NJ, and Edna Fiet of Caledonia, NY; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leo and Donald Quinn.

Housecamp, John J. - John J. Housecamp, 94, of County Road 23, Phelps, died on May 20, 1998. Mr. Housecamp was born in Glen Rock, NJ August 3, 1904, son of Jacob and Katherine Wouckman Housecamp. He worked for Stott's Dry Cleaners in Newark for 17 years and 10 years for the Village of Newark. Mr. Housecamp lived many years in Newark, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Patrina Housecamp of Newark; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Rhoda, in 1991, and a son, Richard, in 1984.

Ogrodowski, Robert Lee - Robert L. Ogrodowski, 61, of East Avenue, Newark died on May 23, 1998 at his home. Mr. Ogrodowski was born May 26, 1936 in Rochester, the son of Bruce and Helen Kanopa Ogrodowski. Bob was a popular restaurant owner in Wayne County for many years. He had served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Jeanne (Mayhew) Ogrodowski; daughters Leeann (Charles) Foss, Joyce Ogrodowski and Debra Ogrodowski, all of Newark; son David (Bobbie) Ogrodowski of Manchester; five grandchildren, Michael Foss, Andrea Murphy, Daniele Ogrodowski, Andrew Ogrodowski and Cassandra Hazlett. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Jr., in 1983.

Beckens, Peter - Peter Beckens, age 85 of Wayne Center Rd., Sodus died at Myers Hospital on May 23, 1998. Friends called Tuesday at the Norton Funeral Home in Sodus where Funeral services followed. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 64 years; daughter, Eleanor Clark of Sodus Point; three sons, Gerald (Marie), Donald (Sharon) and Harold, all of Sodus; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

O'Neal, Josephine H. - Josephine H. O'Neal, 78, of Newark, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998 in Sanford, FL. Mrs. O'Neal was born in Newark, Sept. 15, 1919, the daughter of Henry and Lena Norsen. Interment in Port Gibson Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Jennings (Shorty) O'Neal; four granddaughters, Carolyn Jaeger of Rochester, Sharon Bade of Marion, Donna Cianfoni of Canandaigua, and Judy Tidd of Shortsville; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Boisvert, Luella H. - Luella H. Boisvert, 88, of East Maple Avenue, Newark, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Luella was born May 20, 1909, in Plainview, MN, the daughter of the late Carl and Amalia Janke. She was a member of the Western Presbytertan Church in Palmyra. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Breitkopf, Stephanie R. - Stephanie R. Breitkopf of Palmyra died on May 23, 1998 in the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. She was 26 years old. Interment in the Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa, NY. Coomber, Paul R. - Paul R. Coomber passed away on May 23, 1998 at his home at 124 Lincoln Road, Newark, after an extended illness. He was 70 years old Paul was born on June 2, 1927 in Rochester, NY to John and Laura (Lawson) Coomber. He was a member of The American Legion Post #457 in Phelps, The Palmyra Moose Club and The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #832. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. Mrs. Bouchard was born in Pottersdale, PA on September 15, 1905, daughter of George and Ida Mae Rupe Steiner. She sold Avon products for many years and was an avid card player. Palermo, Rocco D. - Rocco D. Palermo, 72, of East Sherman Ave., Newark died May 14, 1998 at ViaHealth of Wayne-Newark Campus. Mr. Palermo was born in Newark on August 20, 1925, the son of Anthony and Marion Tavano Palermo. He was a life long resident of Newark and a communicant of St. Michael's Church. He had worked for 20 years as pressman at Vanderbrook Press in Newark and then another 20 years at Wilprint, Inc., in Lyons, retiring in 1988. Rocco served in the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of August Mauer Post 286, American Legion and the Arcadia Memorial Post 2883 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Interment at Newark Cemetery with military honors. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Iona (Spencer) Palermo; three sons, Randy (Betty) of Lyons, David (fiancee Susan VanLiew) and James of Newark; two daughters, Mary Ann (Kelly) Connell of North Ridge, CA, and Cheryl (Michael) Stemmer of Cordova, TN; eight grandchildren, Shane, Jamie, Brandon and Bryant Palermo, Michael and Danny Connell, Sara Stemmer, Selena Turner; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Palermo. Steurrys, Jacob A. - Jacob A. Steurrys, 67, of Marion, died May 15, 1998. Interment in Marion Cemetery. Evangelist, Margaret V. - Margaret V. Evangelist, 84, formerly of Phelps Street, Marion died May 16, 1998 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Evangelist was born in Lyons on June 5, 1913, the daughter of Frank and Rose Marino Vitaro. She worked for J.L. Hammett Co. of Lyons. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Louise) Albanese of Newark and Mrs. Vincent (Margaret) Savona of Oswego; six grandchildren, John, James, Lisa, and Leah Albanese, Michael and Andrew Savona; one great-grandchild, David Albanese, and nieces and nephews. Her husband John died in 1992.

Csete, Edward J. - Edward J. Csete, 41, of Walker Road, Palmyra, died unexpectedly May 14, 1998. Funeral services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Stephen P. and Irene Csete; two brothers, Stephen Csete of Ilion, and William Csete of Phelps; two sisters Anne Csete of Canton, and Jeanne (Todd) Danningburg of Warsaw; and loving friend, Kathy-Jo Brodsky, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. LaComb was born in North Bangor on March 14, 1915, daughter of Jeremiah and Mabel Irish Trumble. She had worked for Neisner Company in Newark and was a member of St. Michael's Church. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Merchant) J. Russell Jr. of Newark; granddaughter, Kathryn (Donald) Borland of Clifton Springs; great-grandson, Patrick Joseph Borland; two sisters, Esther Dwyer of Chateaugay, NY and Jeanette (Thomas) Patterson of Massena; half-brother, Donald Trumble of Florida; sister-in-law, Maude Trumble; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Cleon Trumble.

Taggart, Laura Lazier B. - Laura Lazier B. Taggart, 84, of Washington St., Newark died on May 19, 1998 at Via Health of Wayne (Newark-Wayne Community Hospital). Mrs. Taggart was born in Lyons, Dec. 21, 1913, the daughter of Harry and Fannie Cromwell Lazier. She retired from the Lake Shore Nursing Home In Rochester. She was an avid traveler, and lived in Newark for over 30 years. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Colacino, Joseph A. - Joseph A. Colacino, of Chestnut St., Newark, died May 8, 1998 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Colacino was born in Newark, the son of Felice and Nettie (Dale) Colacino. He was a life long resident of Newark and a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the purchasing contractor for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Canandaigua, retiring in 1978. Joe was a member of the August Mauer American Legion Post No. 286, the Newark Elks Lodge No. 1249, Knights of Columbus Newark Council No. 897, and the Sons of Italy, Geneva Lodge. Joe was well known for his Italian cooking and often prepared meals for various groups. Interment at East Newark Cemetery with military honors.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Netta (DiSanto); son the Rev. John Colacino C.PP.S of Brighton; son James (Roberta) Colacino; grandchildren, Matthew and Mara of Newark; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bernard V. Colacino, Sr., in 1997.

Roemer, Bernice - Bernice Roemer, 63, of Rochester Street, Lima, died May 6, 1998 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Ms. Roemer was born in the town of Arcadia Feb. 3, 1935, the daughter of John and Nellie Kotvis Roemer. She was associated with and taught Sunday School for many years at the Elim Bible institute in Lima. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her twin sister, Berdeane Featherly of Sodus; sisters, Gail Shutt of Palmyra, and Arlene Steffen of Naples; brother, Edward Roemer of Newark; several nieces and nephews.

Bartucca, Andrew - Andrew "Andy" Bartucca, 81, of Pleasant Street, Phelps, died May 7, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. Bartucca was born Nov. 13, 1916, in Wilkes Barre, PA, and had lived in Italy from age three until he was 19. He moved back to the U.S. and worked for Jackson & Perkins Nursery and Hallagan Furniture in Newark. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Company B of the 108th Infantry. He received a Purple Heart. Mr. Bartucca retired from Canandaigua Veterans Hospital as a barber after 33 years of service. He also operated a barber shop from his home and was an avid gardener. Mr. Bartucca was a member of St. Francis Church, the Phelps American Legion Post, VFW in Newark, and was voted neighbor of the year by the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Bartucca had just received a New York State Conspicuous Award from the Governor of NYS for his value during World War II. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery, with full military honors. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Angelina of Phelps; two daughters, Rosemary (Terry) Holland of Phelps and Antoinette (Leonard) Buchakjian of Scotia; son, Andrew (Debra) Bartucca of Springfield, VA; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Mazgowiec of Florida, and Mary Bartucca of Newark; nieces and nephews.

Lindner, Margaret L. - Margaret L. Lindner, 77, of Clyde, died May 6, 1998 at her home. Mrs. Lindner was born in Clyde on Aug. 22, 1920, a daughter of Elwyn and Josie Colegrove Gary. She had worked for G.E. in Clyde and Auburn, and retired from Parker Hannifin in 1970 in Clyde. She was an avid bowler. Interment in Rose Cemetery.Mrs. Lindner is survived by daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Cattieu of Newark; son, Raymond (Karen) Lindner of Newark; six grandchildren, Robin, Kristin and Brandon Cattieu, Melissa (Bill) Legg, Michael and Private Marcie Lindner; sister, Mrs. Glen (Ethel) Anstee of Clyde; two brothers, Robert Gary of Lyons and Earl Gary of Bellona; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Morris Albrecht.

Muoio, Antonio - Antonio Muoio, 69, of Thornwood, NY died on May 1, 1998. He was born September 9, 1928, to Luigi and Theresa Basile Muoio in Cerisano, Italy. He came to New York when he was nine. On May 23, 1954, he married Eva Perotta at Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Pleasantville, NY. Mr. Muoio served for the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. For 40 years, Mr. Muoio was a banker for the Bank of New York in Harrison. After retiring in 1989, he served as a consultant to several Westchester banks. He was a parishioner of Holy Innocents Church. Interment in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne. He is survived by his wife, Eva Perotta; three sons, Anthony of NJ, Frank of North Salem, NY and Stephen of Cross River, NY; daughter, Adele Longo of Yonkers; brother, Frank Muoio of Newark; several grandchildren.

Brignall, Roger L. - Roger L. Brignall, 59, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 10, 1998, at his home. Mr. Brignall was born Dec. 30, 1938 in Waterloo, the son of Philip and Dora Jensen Brignall. He graduated from Waterloo Central School in 1957. From 1957 to 1959, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He had worked at the Seneca Falls Machine Shop; the American Can in Geneva; and the Seneca Army Depot. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo. He is survived by his wife Florence "Skippy" Brignall; son, Richard L. Brignall of Waterloo; three brothers, John Brignall of Waterloo, Merlin (Kathee) Brignall of South Carolina, Dale (Carol) Brignall of Newark; sister, Donna (Walter) Ellison of Waterloo, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Larry.

Fisher, Tuena - Tuena Fisher, 90, of Marion, died May 3, 1998 in the Wayne County Nursng Home. Tuena was a former Garlock employee and member of the Marion Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Second Reformed Church. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She was the widow of Clarence Fisher. She is survived by her daughter Loretta (Marvin) DeFisher; three grandchildren Marvin (Cheryl), Paul (Kristen) and Alan (Mary) DeFisher; five great-grandchilden, all of Marion; three brothers, Earl Huesman, Newark, Edward Krocke, Newark and Peter Krocke, Marion; sister, Josephine Adriaansen, Newark; nieces and nephews.

Wrench, Allyn B. - Allyn B. Wrench, 79, of Southern Pines, NC, died April 30, 1998 at the Inn at Quail Haven. Mr. Wrench was born December 17, 1918 in Newark. After graduating from Newark High School, he joined C.H. Stuart, Inc. He later left to join the US Army and attended O.C.S., Army Finance School at Duke University. He left the Army at the rank of Captain after serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Mr. Wrench retired as Vice-President of Caroline Emmons after 43 years of service with divisions of C.H. Stuart, Inc. in Newark. He moved to Southern Pines with his wife in 1983. Most recently he was a duplicate bridge director, ACBL, and part owner of the Bridge Center. Mr. Wrench was an avid golfer and bridge player, a life member of the Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge, and a member of the Page Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment in Newark. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Willa; two daughters and their husbands, Janet (James) Zilinski of Lenox, MA, and Linda (William) French of Kansas City, MO; a son, Thomas Wrench and his wife Loreana of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by his brother, Albert (Thelma) Wrench of Newark; a sister-in-law, Vivian Nurse of Rochester; many nieces and nephews.

Justino, John J. - John J. Justino, 86, of Spencer Street, Lyons, died May 2, 1998, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Justino was born in Lyons on June 26, 1911, the son of Joseph and Josephine DeSain Justino. He retired from Tiberio Motors in Savannah as a mechanic, and he worked many years for the Lyons Service Station. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (June) Schroo of Lyons; two grandchildren, Brenda (Doug) Mitchell of Horseheads and Karen (Brad) Smith of Lock Berlin; four great-grandchildren, Allyson, Bryan, Paige and Kayla; four sisters, Mary Pettrone and Tina Bradfield of Rochester, Ceclia Cassavino of Newark, and Virginia DeJohn of Lyons; nieces and nephews, and special friend Josephine Trombino. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette on June 6, 1985 and sisters, Flora Musolino, Grace Calkins, and brothers Louis and Rocco Justino.

Witt, Maria E. - Maria E. Witt of Lyons, 101, resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home since 1992, died on May 1, 1998. Maria was born in Ahus, Germany on April 6, 1897. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1923, settling in Madison, WI, and then moving to Lyons in 1925. She was a member of VFW Post 5092 Auxiliary and St. John's Church. Interment in the Elmwood Cemetery, Lyons. Surviving are her son, Frederick (Dixie) Witt, Sr., of Newark; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Karl Rieck in 1937, her second husband Herman C. Witt in 1974 and a son, Verner Rieck in 1992.

Hoff, Theda Burcroff - Theda Burcroff Hoff, 82, of Marion, died April 30, 1998 in Perry, Michigan. Interment in the Marion Cemetery. The widow of Gordon Hoff, former Marion Town Supervisor, she was also predeceased by a son, Michael. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Kristine) of Perry, MI; three grandchildren, Kimberly Hayes, Michelle and Stephanie Hoff; her sister, Verna (Chester) Wegemaker of Williamson.

Tavano, Maria - Maria Tavano, 69, of Peirson Avenue, Newark, died Monday, May 4, 1998 at home. Mrs. Tavano was born March 14, 1929 in Hungary, the daughter of Joseph and Maria Kanics Zsebe. She came to this country in 1956, settling in Newark in 1957, where she worked for the Newark Developmental Center for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. Maria was a member of St. Michael's Church. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 1975. She is survived by two daughters, Susanna (John) Brandt of Spartanburg, SC, and Kathleen Stuart of Redmont, OR; grandson, Patrick Brandt, and granddaughter, Amanda Rose; one sister in Sweden, a brother and three sisters in Hungary; many nieces and nephews.

Johncox, Roy Newton Sr. - Roy Newton Johncox Sr., 86, of Newark died Wednesday, April 22, 1998. Mr. Johncox was born Feb. 18, 1910. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. He is survived by his children, Barbara Dorminey, Patricia (William) Morse, Roy "Butch" (Sharon) Johncox Jr.; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Taft, Chester W. - Chester W. Taft, 78, of Spencer Street, Lyons, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998 at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Taft was born in Lyons, the son of Jesse and Ella Richardson Taft on Oct. 2, 1919. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne in several European countries. Mr. Taft was a member of the VFW Post 5092 and was employed and retired from the Seneca Army Depot after many years of service. Interment in Rose Cemetery. Survivors include four sons, Weldon of Newark, Bernard (Georgette) of Rose, Jeffrey (Patti) of Clyde, Richard of Lyons; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine, in 1977.

Elias, Mary - Mary Elias, 89, of Palmyra died Saturday, April 25,1998. Mary worked as a volunteer with RSVP Wayne County. Interment in the Palmyra Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Elias. She is survived by several nieces and nephews; her sisters-in-law, Magdalena (Zegers) Huisman of Newark, Verna Baker of Palmyra; dear friend, Sara Babyn of Palmyra.

Giddings, Loretta M. - Loretta M. Giddings, 89, of Spencer Street, Lyons, died Sunday, April 26, 1998 in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Mrs. Giddings was born in Savannah on May 18, 1908, daughter of John and Mary Gleason Merrigan. She retired from Lincoln First Bank in Newark in 1973 and, in her earlier years, worked for Empire Gas Company. She was an active Democrat in Lyons and an active member of St. Michael's Church. She was also a foster grandparent for the Head Start Program. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Mrs. Giddings is survived by two sons, William (Dawn) of Stone Mountain, GA and Thomas (Diane) of Lyons; sister, Marie Rowen of South Windsor, CT; three grandchildren, Shaunessy Giddings of Orlando, FL, Michael Giddings of Lyons and Rebecca Hauck of San Francisco; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry T., in 1966.

DeMay, Archie I. - Archie I. DeMay, 77, of Gulf Breeze, FL, formerly of Newark, died April 6, 1998 in Gulf Breeze. He was born May 11, 1920 the son of Ivan and Margaret Deys DeMay in Newark. Before retiring in Florida, Mr. DeMay owned and operated a blacksmith shop and later a welding and machine shop. He also had driven a school bus for the Newark School District for many years. Mr. DeMay was an active member of the Wayne County Gem and Mineral Club, the Way-Ont Saddle Club, the Newark Grange, a former Cub Master of the Boy Scouts and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. He served in the US Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in Europe. Mr. DeMay is survived by his wife, Viola Hurdic DeMay of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughters and sons-in-law Elaine DeMay & Ronald Herman of Newark, Charlotte Hurdic & Joseph Schultz of PA, Barbara Hurdic and Jennings Lesher of OK; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sharon DeMay of Sodus; foster son, Larry Timmerman, TN; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers, Karl and Mildred DeMay and George and Betty DeMay of Newark; sister, Ivarene (James) Norcott of Waterloo; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor and brother Ronald.

Hockaday, George W. - George W. Hockaday, 75, of Rt. 88, Sodus, died Monday, April 27, 1998 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Hockaday was born in Anderson, Indiana on February 9, 1923, the son of Warren F. and Bertha Fisher Hockaday. He was a railroad locomotive consultant for 20 years. He was a member of the Finger Lakes Live Steamers and the United Third Methodist Church of Sodus. He had lived in Schenectady for 30 years and in the Newark-Sodus area for 20 years. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Biantha Thompson Hockaday; two sons, Warren F. (Gerlinde) of Clifton Park, NY; Bruce D. (Sarah) of Vernon, CT; seven grandchildren; and two nieces.

Vandewalle, Sharon Simizon - Sharon Simizon Vandewalle, 38, of Toccoa, Georgia, died Monday, April 27, 1998 in the Stephens County Hospital from injuries she received in an automobile accident. She was born in Newark on April 11, 1960 where she had lived most of her life, having moved to Toccoa four years ago. She was the office manager at Seminole Civil Construction. Survivors include her parents, John and Karen Hildebrandt Simizon of Newark; two sons, Jason and Bryan Vandewalle both of Toccoa; sister, Suzan Streed of LaFayette, Colorado; two brothers, Jeff Simizon of Atlanta, GA, and Michael Simizon of North Syracuse; maternal grandparents Emil and Minnie Hildebrandt of Newark; paternal grandmother, Altea Simizon of Newark.

Ameele, Blanche H. - Blanche H. Ameele, 92, formerly of Hall Center died April 28, 1998 in Blossom View Nursing Home. Interment Marion Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan and grandson, Barry. Survivors include two sons, Donald (Shirley) Ameele of Marion and Melville Ameele of Macedon; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Pearl) Billings of Walworth; a niece and nephews.

Almekinder, James - James Almekinder, 38, of Steel Point Rd., Marion, died April 29, 1998 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Weiler, Henry Jr. - Henry Weiler, Jr., 81, of Sunrise, Florida, died peacefully at home on April 15, 1998. Born in Akron, Ohio, Mr. Weiler moved to Newark in 1963 and worked as an industrial engineer and manager at Garlock Inc. until moving to Florida in 1979. He was a member of several professional organizations and the Church of the Palms. Mr. Weiler served in the Navy in WWII. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and baseball.He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice; sister Elizabeth; children and their families: Melody, Sherry, James and Rita, Brent and Su, and Su's son Michael.

DeRidder, Mabel B. - Mabel B. DeRidder, 82, a resident of DeMay Living Center, Newark, died April 18, 1998. Mabel was born in Phelps, the daughter of Frederick and Emma Katterman DeRidder, on July 10, 1915. She was a 1935 graduate of Lyons Central School. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Lyons. Mabel is survived by her son, Peter (Michelle) of Lyons; daughter, Phyllis (Harold) Bowen of Lancaster, NY; grandchildren, Brianna, Zachary and Allysa DeRidder of Lyons, Timothy and Patrick Bowen of Lancaster, Amy and Ashley Harris of Tennessee; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Abram, in 1983, and brother, Arthur Schuldt in 1985.

Towner, Leo Charles - Leo Charles Towner, 84, of East Main Street, Palmyra, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Towner was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Bath, the son of Charles and Rachel Washburn Towner. He attended the Day Program at the ARC in Newark. Interment at Grove Cemetery, East Morris Street, Bath. Mr. Towner is survived by a sister, Ruth Brush of Painted Post; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends a the Palmyra ARC Home.

Taylor, Gordon L. - Gordon L. Taylor, of Penfield, formerly of Clifton Springs, died April 13, 1998, at Rochester General Hospital. Gordon graduated from Clifton Springs High School, and was a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio. He worked for many years at Bausch & Lomb in Rochester. He was a Captain in World War II, during which he served as a meteorologist. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, Clifton Springs. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 55 years, Grace Thomas Taylor; two sons, Gary of Longmont, CO, and Scott of Rochester; two sisters, Doris T. Ives of East Amherst, and Marjorie T. Davis of Newark; three grandchildren, Stacey, Jenna and Ryan, all of Colorado; several nephews and nieces.

Bauer, William Whyatt - William Whyatt Bauer, 81, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mr. Bauer was a fruit grower in Ontario for 40 years. A 51-year member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #416 and a member of its Past Masters, Mr. Bauer was also a member of the Wayne County Shrine Club and Damascus Temple Shrine. He played in the Shrine Band for 45 years. He also played in a number of bands including the Ontario March Kings, Webster Firemen's Band and most recently the Clyde Saxton Band. She was born July 2, 1920 in Newark the daughter of James and Mary Jelomono DeJohn; she was a member of St. Michael's Church and for many years was a nurse at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, retiring in 1964. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by a son, Samuel J. (Elaine) of Marion; grandsons, Joseph and Daniel; sisters, Marie Genecco and Ann (Frank) Lawson of Hollywood, FL.; brothers, Ralph (Marie) DeJohn of Freehold, NJ, Michael (Ange) DeJohn and Louis (Phyllis) DeJohn of Newark; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. on January 8, 1988; and brother, Thomas DeJohn, June 7, 1997.

Housel, Madison Elisabeth - Madison Elisabeth Housel died on April 12, 1998 in Rochester. She was two months old, the daughter of Scott and Nicole Housel. She is also survived by maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Marie Latona; paternal grandmother Kathleen Housel; paternal grandparents Craig and Deborah Housel of Newark; uncles, Lawrence (Nancy) Latona, Mark (Kelli Lyons) and Todd (Angela) Housel; one aunt, Nicole Housel; several cousins; many friends in Germany.

Welcher, Frank E. - Frank Eugene Welcher, 49, of Jungle Road, Newark, died April 13, 1998 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Frank was born November 26, 1948 in Rochester to Paul and Marian Rykbost Welcher. He had lived in Newark all his life, graduating from Newark High School in 1967. Frank was a 1970 graduate of SUNY at Alfred, where he enjoyed singing in the college chorus. He was a dairy farmer and a delegate in his milk co-op for many years. He was also active in many other farm organizations. Frank was a member of the former First Church of Christ, Scientist in Newark and a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, MA. He was a member of the Newark Community Choir and the Alfred Chorus Alumni. Surviving are his wife, E. Sue (Fisher) Welcher and son, Evan at home; his parents, Paul and Marian Welcher of Newark; two brothers, Thomas (Priscilla) of Newark and Jeffrey (Theresa) of Oneida; his parents-in-law, Harold and Mary Fillmore of Sodus; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Verne (Sally) Fillmore of Owego, Ellen (Terry) Carpenter of Adams Basin, Diane (Al) Walker of Rose, Richard (Mary) Fisher of Williamson, and Laurel (Kent) Young of NJ; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Clark, Rose M. - Rose M. Clark, 88, died Sunday, April 12, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mrs. Clark was born in Portageville, NY on September 11, 1909. She was a missionary to the American Indians through the guidance of the Assembly of God Church. Interment in Alton Cemetery at the family's convenience. Surviving are two sons, George (Shirley) of Lyons, Robert (Cindy) of FL; four daughters, Ruth (Curly) Mourey of Lyons, Ellen (Bud) Mourey, of Alton, Louise (Donald) Davenport of N. Rose, Dorothy (Frank) Monje of Wolcott; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Burgess of Port Gibson; two sisters, Katherine Jones and Mary Thompson of Newark; sister-in-law, Margaret Higgins of Lyons. Newcombe, Mark Richard - Mark Richard Newcombe, 31, of 1186 Perch Drive, St. Cloud, FL, formerly of Newark, died Monday, April 13, 1998. Born in Newark, Mr. Newcombe was a metal framer for the building industry. He moved to St. Cloud In 1980 and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Newcombe is survived by his wife, Brenda Marie Newcombe of St. Cloud; son, Kristapher Newcombe of St. Cloud; father, Richard Arelen Newcombe of Newark; mother, Sharon L. Phillips, and stepfather, Randy C. Phillips of Lake Worth, FL; sister, Shelley Beth Gaston of Newark; half-brother, Josh Newcombe of Newark; half-sister, Christina Newcombe of Newark.

Musolino, Anthony L. - Anthony L. Musolino, 91, of East Miller Street, Newark died April 14, 1998 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Musolino was born May 2, 1906, in Canandaigua, the son of Bruno and Maria Niovino Musolino. He had worked at the VA hospital in Canandaigua and for Seneca Foods in Newark. He was a former member of American War Dads of the VFW of Newark, and he played the banjo. Interment will be in Cato Union Hill Cemetery. Mr. Musolino is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Bowen Musolino; sister, Rose Gennuso of Rochester; cousin, Anthony "Tony" Muscato of Naples, NY; nieces and nephews.

Monje (Holdridge), Anne E. - Anne E. Monje, 66, of Westfield Street, West Springfield, MA, formerly of Savannah, died Monday, March 30, 1998 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts. Born in Savannah, Dec. 29, 1931, Anne was the daughter of the late Marion and Flossie (Westcott) Holdridge. Raised and educated in Savannah, she had lived most of her life in Newark and had worked as sales manager for Sibley's Department Store for 20 years, before settling in West Springfield 12 years ago. Anne is survived by a daughter, Patricia Monje-Read of Penn Yan; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Muriel Holdridge of Brookville, FL; two granddaughters, Shawna Armitage and Ashley Read, and two nephews.

Strassburger, Ruth - Ruth D. Strassburger, 89, of 2371 Ford Road, Newark died Friday, April 3, 1998, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Ruth was born Sept. 30, 1908 in Hubbard Woods, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Freida Wendt DiBall. She was a member of the first graduating class of Hubbard Woods School, and attended high school in New Prier Winnetha, Illinois. Ruth was a professional long-term babysitter. She was a lifetime member of the Northbrook Home Bureau and the Lutheran Church in Northbrook, IL. Ruth moved to Newark May 15, 1997, where she resided with her son and daughter-in-law. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roland and Janice of Newark, and their family; grandchildren, Karen (Yohe) Lucieer, Keith Yohe, Kelly Strassburger; great-grandchildren, Tanya, Crystal and Donald; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler, James and Cody; a daughter, Charlotte Wennlund of Waukegan, IL, and her family; grandson, Leonard; great-grandson, Shawn; sister and brother-in]law, Victoria and Keith Cady of Oak Park, IL, nephews, Paul and Wendall Cady.

Kommer (Smith), Clara E. - Clara E. (Smith) Kommer, 86, died April 5, 1998. Interment Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Helen (Ralph) Kommer; grandchildren, Kevin Kommer, Kathy (William III) Courtney; great-grandaughter Alexa Courtney; brothers, George Rausler of FL and John Rausler of Newark; sister, Ida Rose of Victor; several nieces & nephews. Bruinsma, Helen M. - Helen M. Bruinsma, 93, of Clinton Court Apartments, Newark, died Monday, April 6, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Bruinsma was born the daughter of John and Dena (VonHof) Frelier, February 4, 1905 in Rochester. She married Clarence B. Bruinsma on March 29, 1926. She was a devoted wife and mother and will enjoy this Easter with her Lord. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. Mrs. Bruinsma is survived by her daughter, Margaret DeLeeuw; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheila Bruinsma; two grandchildren, Barry and Beth Bruinsma; great-grandson, Bailey; sisters, Ethel (Richard) Meischser of OR, Mabel DeVries and Ruth Nordseth both of Rochester; her sister-in-law, Rachel Frelier of Rochester, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bruinsma was predeceased by her husband, Clarence in August 1994, and her son-in-law John DeLeeuw, in September 1994.

Gulick, Ruth - Ruth Gulick, 89, of Syracuse, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Castle Rest Nursing Home, Syracuse. Born in Fair Haven, she was a resident of Newark for many years before moving to Syracuse. Interment in Loomis Hill Cemetery. She is survived by many cousins, including Larry Rice of Newark.

Groot, Margaret E. - Margaret E. Groot, 90, of Newark, died April 8, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Groot was born on March 8, 1908 in Fayette, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Robenot. She had lived in Sodus for many years before moving to Newark in 1983. Mrs. Groot was a retired wallpaper hanger and an active member of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Monument Grove Cemetery, Meridian. She is survived by a daughter, Gladys Wallace of Newark; two sons, Charles of Lakeville and Chester of Canandaigua; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Verna Leyburn of Cato, Marian Mills and Edith Bye, both of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Emil Fisher of Ira, NY and Raymond Fisher of Memphis, NY; nieces and nephews.

Adamy, Dorothy T. - Dorothy T. Adamy, 80, of Bethany Village, Horseheads, died March 24, 1998. She was born February 21, 1917 in Elmira, the daughter of Willard G. and Lillian Gardner Tallman. She was a graduate of Cortland High School. She spent her life as a pastor's wife, which made her a resident of many places as he held pastorial assignments in N. Voellinger, Raymond E. - Raymond E. Voellinger, 65, of West Pearl Street, Newark, died Saturday, March 28, 1998 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Voellinger was born the son of Emil and Mary Redden, May 28, 1932 in Webster, New York. He was a retiree of Garlock Co. in Palmyra, where he was employed for 36 years. He was a member of the Palmyra VFW and a weekly visitor of the Newark VFW. The funeral home proudly flies the Navy Flag in honor of his service to our country during the Korean War. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. Mr. Voellinger is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Juanita Bushey Voellinger; daughters and husbands - Lori (Mayville) and Donald Norsen of Fairville; Lisa (Mayville) and Daniel Turner of Fairville; his sons, Timothy and Todd both of Rochester; grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Brian, Rae, Adam and Dylan; sisters Marie Verschage of Avon, Gertrude Dawson of Arcade and Kathrine Miller of Florida; special friends Laurie VanSchaffel, Andy Marks and Don Buckley; many nieces and nephews. Smith, Charles W. - Charles W. Smith, 77, of Siegrist St., Newark, died March 28, 1998. Mr. Smith was born in Algier, NC, Dec. 24, 1920, son of P.T. and Bertha Hamilton Smith. He was a carpenter and served in World War II in the Marine Corps. He was a former member of the VFW of Rochester. A service was be held on March 31, at Marion Cemetery. Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Fran Vaughn of VA; several brothers and sisters; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys in 1996, and sons, Steve K. Smith in 1982 and Larry C. Smith.

Johnson, Floyd A. Jr.- Floyd A. Johnson Jr., 88, of Inlet, formerly of Lyons and Rochester, died March 26, 1998, in Myers Community Hospital, Sodus. Born July 8, 1909, in Port Byron to Floyd and Edith Tanner Johnson Sr., he was a night supervisor of manufacturing for Xerox in Webster. He retired in 1975 after many years of employment. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Inlet and a longtime member of the Q-B's (air pilot association).He is survived by his children, Anne Hofschneider of Chili, Patricia (Arthur) Thompson of Pittsford, Paul (Judith) of Newark, Floyd (Louise) of Williamson, Rita (Eugene) Hildreth of Lyons, June of Henrietta, Judith (Gary Ledgerwood) of Macedon and John (Linda) of Utica; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister and brother; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends.He was predeceased by his wife, Martha, in 1994.

Yost, Nelson (Toot) - Nelson (Toot) Yost, 81, of West Miller St., Newark, died March 31, 1998 at Newark-Wayne Hospital. Nelson was born on July 1, 1916 in Lewisburg, PA, the son of Adam and Sarah Spitler Yost. He was a long-time resident of Newark and retired from Garlock in 1975. He was a member of the Garlock Old Timers Club. Interment in the Port Gibson Cemetery. Gagner, Angela - Angela Dardano Gagner, 93, formerly of Utica, died March 15, 1998 at Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. She was born in Utica on August 7, 1904, the eldest daughter of Anthony and Mary (Arlotto) Dardano. She was educated in local schools and married John DeFelice. Angela was married a second time to Patrick Costello, who passed away and then married Henry Gagner in 1981. Mr. Gagner passed away in 1983. Mrs. Gagner was employed at Joseph and Feiss Co.She is survived by her daughter, Gloria DeFelice Corelli of Newark; grandson, Michael; granddaughter, Maureen Ashbarry; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Ashbarry; one brother and sister in Utica and one sister in San Diego, CA; several cousins, nieces & nephews.

Tyler, Lawrence H. - Lawrence H. Tyler, 71, of Lock Berlin, died on March 22, 1998. Mr. Tyler was born in Newark July 17, 1926, son of Clarence and Susan Farnsworth Tyler. Hockenberger, Clementine "Jane" - Clementine "Jane" Hockenberger, 92, died on March 20, 1998, in Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Born April 3, 1905, in Belgium to Charles and Marie (Milbrook) Dobbelaere, she came to the U.S. at age 4. With her husband, Carl, she owned and operated the Fairville Restaurant from 1936-1966. She also was a cook for Newark Developmental Center for over 20 years, retiring in 1972. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Napoleon, Louis "Ray" - Louis Raymond Napoleon, 57, of Frey Street, Newark, died March 24, 1998 at his home. Interment in Newark Cemetery.Mr. Napoleon was born April 3, 1940 in Waterloo, the son of Frank P. and Louise Van Norman Napoleon. He served from 1957-60 in the Marine Corps. Ray was an owner-operator of a long-distance tractor trailer for over 32 years, recently leasing to Fleischer's Bagels and Newark Florist. From 1976-81 he was employed by C.H. Stuart Co., and was awarded District Driver of the Year in 1978 by Ryder Truck. Ray is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark.He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Caren (Bain) Napoleon; children, Lewis Raymond (Caroline Mills) Napoleon of Palmyra, Kathleen (Dean) Baker of Marion, Carl F. (Kay VanNoy) Napoleon of Farmington, Christopher (fiance Amy Grant) Napoleon of Newark and Raeanne L. Napoleon at home; three grandchildren, Kasie, Korie and Tyler Baker. Also surviving are a brother Dan Napoleon of Marion and three half sisters, Norma Crockford, Charlotte Bradley and Ruth Clark, all of Florida. He is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Frank "Bugsy" Napoleon.

King, Ruth M. - Ruth M. King, 82, of Phelps died Friday, March 13, 1998 at home after a long illness. Ruth was born Oct. 13, 1915 in the Town of Hopewell, daughter of Harry and Anna Penner, and had lived in this area all her life. She was a member of the United Church of Phelps, and the Plainsville Alumni Association. Ruth enjoyed sewing.She is survived by three sons, Dennis (Nancy) King of Phelps, Charles (Mary) King of Phelps, William King of Phelps; a stepson, Thomas (Rosley) King of Northville, N.Y.; a sister, Helen Decker of Newark; a brother, Elwood (June) Renner of Newark; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Harry in 1976; and a sister, Edna VandenBussche.

Buckley, Patricia J. - Patricia "Patte" J. Buckley, died on March 12, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Olney, Illinois, on January 9, 1924, to Harold and June Pullar. She married George A. Buckley on June 7, 1947, in Beverly, Illinois. She attended Stephens College in Missouri and graduated from the University of Wisconsin -- Madison. Her professional life included teaching, social work, and volunteering. She and her family lived in Newark from 1969-1979, and Patte taught grade school in Lyons. She was very active at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Newark, volunteering thousands of hours over the years. Patte's life will continue to be celebrated by people who were "touched" by her presence in their lives. One of her greatest pleasures was spending each summer at her family's cottage on Lake Eau Claire, Augusta, Wisconsin, surrounded by family and friends. And among her proudest accomplishments were teaching nearly 100 children to water ski, and water skiiing, herself, at age 70.She is survived by her husband, George, Orland Park, IL; her sons, Buck (Laurel), Evanston, IL; George Jr. (Skip), Streamwood, IL; her daughters, Suzi (Chet) Wisniewski, Lockport, IL; Marne Buckley, Augusta, WI; her grandchildren, Chad Murphy, Worth, IL; Sophie Buckley, Evanston, IL; her sisters, Kay Grootemaat, Naples, FL; Bubbie Jackson, Hot Springs, FL; her sisters-in-law, Marge (Arthur) West, Wilmette, IL; Betty (Bud) Sundstrom, Palos Park, IL; beloved nephews and nieces, and countless dear friends.

Israel, Frances Irene - Frances Irene Israel, 76, of Newark, died Saturday, March 14, 1998 in Wayne County Nursing Home. Born in Clyde on May 1, 1921, to John and Mary Marchione Catall, she worked in the office at Comstock Foods in Newark for 29 years. She had lived on Moore Street and at 200 E. Miller St. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and its Altar and Rosary Societies. In earlier years, she was a member of St. John's Church, Clyde. She is survived by her nephews, John (Melissa) Catall of Birmingham, AL and Bernie (Lisa) Catall of Atlanta. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, in 1988; and a brother, John "Moe" Catall, in 1995.

Michael, Frank A. - Frank A. Michael, 83, died in Canandaigua VA Hospital on March 12, 1998. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery at a later date. He was predeceased by his wives, Ruth and Doris; children, Pamela Pike, Patricia Loucks, Clifford Herman; grandson, Guy Loucks and sister Eleanore Bell. Mason, Leona B. - Leona B. Mason, 88 of Marion died on March 16. She was a retired Marion teacher, a graduate of Brockport and Oswego State, and a member of the United Church. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. She was born Dec. 30, 1909 in Wolcott, to William and Georgianna Kyle Bigelow. She was predeceased by husbands Kenneth W. Mason and Leon S. Mason and a son William Mason. She is survived by daughters, Margaret Zullo of East Islip, and Wilma Johnson of Marion; son Victor Mason of Marion; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Bruce Durand; other nieces and nephews.

Tansley, Rita - Rita Tansley, 73, formerly of Newark, died Monday, March 16, 1998 at the Wayne-County Nursing Home. Mrs. Tansley was born in Rochester, the daughter of Arthur and Frances Martin Bettner. She was the widow of Dr. Evan Tansley, who died March 28, 1966. Interment will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Tantalo, Carol, A. - Carol A. Tantalo, 64, of Ontario, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at her home. She was born in Newark on November 28, 1933, daughter of Carl and Mary Cornell Reeves. She retired from Xerox Company in Webster. Interment will be in Webster Union Cemetery. Carol is survived by two brothers, Richard Reeves of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and Carl Reeves of Sodus Point; one sister, Darlene Frymark of Hewlitt, Texas; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 1977.

Sipple, LaVerne (Bill) - LaVerne Sipple, formerly of Penfield, died March 16, 1998. He worked as a volunteer at the Rochester Rehalibation Center (a division of the Al Sigl Center) for 15 years. He was a former member of Penfield Vol. Fire Co., Penfield Exempt Firemen, Penfield First Baptist Church, was member of the Penfield Rotary Club, and former committee member of the Boys Scouts of America and Penfield Little League.He is survived by his wife Alvah (Dolly) Sipple; children, Charles (Vicki) Sipple of MI, Beth (Gerry) Palmer of Newark, Scott (Marilese) Sipple of Ontario; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

Rease, George P. - George P. Rease, 73, of Port Gibson, died Saturday, March 7, 1998 in the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital.Mr. Rease was born in Lyons on March 3, 1925, the son of George P. and Augusta De Weaver Rease, Sr., he was a Walworth area resident for many years, before moving to Port Gibson 14 years ago. For most of his career, he was in the heating and plumbing business, retiring in 1990. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and member of the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW. George was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth; sons, Stephen of Newark, Gary (Vickie) of Gananda, Daniel (Pamela) of Newark; daughters, Katheryn of Newark, Nancy (William) Schrader of Newark, and Jennifer (Edward) Weykman. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Brown, Ward - Ward Brown, 84, of Port Gibson, died on March 4, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital.Mr. Brown was born July 19, 1913, in Flint, the son of Frank and Lena Brown, and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the Village of Palmyra, after which he worked in laundries in Palmyra and Newark, and did farming and truck driving. Interment in Port Gibson Cemetery.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, M. Elaine Brown, one sister, Edna Reese of Clifton Springs; brother, Jay Brown of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Claeys, Ceriel - Ceriel Claeys, 83, of Fillmore Street, died on March 6, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Born Dec. 1, 1914, in Macedon to Andrew and Leona De Blaeye Claeys, he was a farmer for many years. For 16 years he worked in the maintenance department of Newark Developmental Center, retiring in 1973. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Humbert, Beryl T. - Mrs. Beryl T. Humbert died on March 5, 1998 at Rochester General Hospital.Mrs. Humbert was born in Newark, the daughter of A. Ross and Lucinda Ellis Thomas. She was a life resident of the area and had lived at DeMay Living Center for two years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Lyons. She graduated from Newark High School, worked at Woolworth's in Newark, at Lyons Community Hospital and Park Bakery in Lyons. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery.Surviving are her son Ernest C. Humbert of Lyons, and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest A. Humbert in 1984.

He was First Assistant Chief in the Sodus Point Fire Department and had been an avid volunteer fireman since 1961. Dellonte, Elizabeth - Elizabeth Dellonte, 90, formerly of Auburn, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Clifton Springs Nursing Home.Mrs. Dellonte was born Jan. 9, 1908, in Auburn, the daughter of August and Annunziata Cecchini. She had been a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Auburn for most of her life. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, in Fleming, NY.Elizabeth was the widow of Ambrogio "Charlie" Dellonte. She is survived by her children, John (Jean) Dellonte of Union Springs, Marie D. (David) Kudla of Newark, and Nancy D. (Michael) Keefe of Lawrenceville, GA.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, August Cecchini of Auburn; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bell, Raymond L. - Raymond L. Bell, 82, of Peirson Ave., died on March 11, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mr. Bell was the son of Charles and Edith Hodges Bell, born November 4, 1915 in Auburn, NY. Lockwood, Lyle L. - Lyle L. Lockwood, 85, of Birchwood Lane, Sodus, died February 27, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. Mr. Lockwood was predeceased by his wife, Adrienne in 1995. He is survived by three sons, Walter of Newark, David (Bonnie) of Knoxville, TN and Lawrence of Lyons; three daughters, Katherine (William) Fulton of Webster, Phyllis (Thomas) Pickard of Baldwinsville and Edith Crave of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren; sister, Sadie Randall; brothers, Clifford Lockwood, Millard Lockwood, Morris Beman and Phillip Beman; several nieces and nephews.

Schlaefler, Charles J. - Charles J. Schlaefler, 84, of East Port Bay Road, Wolcott, died on February 25, 1998 at Myers Community Hospital. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Klug, Sharon L. - Sharon L. Klug, 52, of Marion, died February 27, 1998 after a brief illness. Sharon was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and the Marion School Board, and she was a medical secretary for Arcadia Family Practice in Marion. She was predeceased by her parents, John C. and Eleanor F. Nixon of Pine Bush, NY. She is survived by her ex-husband, Herbert; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jim Briggs, Laura and Jeff Brugge and Jennifer Klug; two grandchildren, Jamie and James Briggs, Jr., all of Marion; two brothers and their wives, Jack and Caroline Nixon of Haines City, FL, Thomas and Patricia Nixon of Montgomery, NY.

Munoz, Clotilde - Clotilde Munoz, 72, of West Union Street, Newark died Sunday, March 1, 1998 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Clotilde was born June 3, 1925 in Puerto Rico, daughter of Diego and Primitiva Ramos Munoz. She was a member of the Spanish Assembly of God of Newark. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Pedro Melendez; five sons, Ramon of Geneva, Hector of Detroit, Ruben of Syracuse, Luis of Newark, and Pedro Jr. of Connecticut; two daughters, Julia Ortiz and Maria Gonzalez of Newark; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Diego Munoz Jr. of New Jersey; sister, Ignacia Cintron of Puerto Rico; nieces and nephews.

Blandino, Philip J. - Philip J. Blandino, 54, formerly of Lyons, died Friday, February 27, 1998 in Florida. Mr. Blandino was born August 20, 1943 in Lyons, the son of Philip "Ace" and Jennie San Angelo Blandino. He had taught at Newark Developmental Center for many years, and for 14 years, he was administrative assistant to former State Senator Paul Kehoe. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Mr. Blandino is survived by his sisters, Rosalind (Peter) Prinzivalli and Shirley (Kevin Frick) Blandino of Rochester; a niece, Lori (Bruce) Barrett; three children; aunts, cousins and many friends.

Kime, Estelle M. - Estelle M. Kime, 95, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at the DeMay Living Center, Newark. Miss Kime was born November 23, 1902 in Rochester, the daughter of William and Charlotte Calligan Kime. She had owned and operated Estelle's Gift Shop on East Miller Street for over 28 years, retiring in 1966. Miss Kime was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of its Rosary and Altar Society. She was an avid bridge player and a member of St. Michael's bridge group. Interment in Webster Rural Cemetery. She is survived by a sister, Betty Parker of Newark; nieces and nephews, Sharon Finewood, William Parker, Mary Jane Barringer, Robert and Kay Frank; several great-nieces and nephews.

Fanning, Robert Francis - Robert Francis Fanning, 78, of Grace Ave., Newark, died Friday, February 27, 1998, in Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Born in Geneva September 26, 1919, to William and Phyllis Sparrow Fanning, he was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy and a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II in Africa, Italy and France. He began working for NYS Electric & Gas Co. in 1946, working in Geneva, Newark and Cortland, before becoming Newark area manager in 1964, where he oversaw construction of its new facilities. Until his retirement in 1981, he was active in the Newark Chamber of Commerce in various capacities, serving as chairman of the Rose Festival in 1971. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church, a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion, a life member of the Newark Elks and a member of Newark Rotary for many years. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy; sons, Michael (Nancy) of Alexandria, VA, and Jeffrey (Karen) of Geneva; grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Christopher, Matthew and Kathleen; sister, Mary Anne Gates of Las Vegas, NV. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen, May 3, 1973.

Veith, Lois I. - Lois I. Veith of Cape Vincent, NY, died at age 72 in Boynton Beach, FL on January 12, 1998 after a short illness. Interment Sand Bay Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Arthur; daughters, Georgia, Sandra (Michael) Ivey of Cape Vincent, Mary (Martin) Royal of GA; sons, James (Corrine) of Newark, and John of Cape Vincent; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and sisters-in-law, Virginia (John) Goonan and Mary (Albert) Jones.

Norrison, Millard 'Mit' Jay Sr. - Millard 'Mit' Jay Norrison Sr., 82, died Monday, March 2, 1998 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Mr. Norrison was born in Newark on July 3, 1915, son of Frank J. and Mary H. Ledain Norrison. He had worked in the maintenance department at Indian Summer Company, Sodus. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by two daughters, Mary D. (Robert) Kittle of Newark and Annette (Richard) Smith of Marion; two sons, James Norrison of Clifton Springs and Millard J. (Sonny) Norrison Jr. of Palmyra; two stepsons, Donald (Barbara) Overfield of Farmington and Jack (Linda) Overfield of North Chili; stepdaughter, Lucille (Barry) Evans of Clintonville, Michigan; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grand children; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Cornelia in 1975, and second wife, Maxine Overfield In 1996.

DeDee, Loretta S. - Loretta S. DeDee, 86, of Tallahassee, FL, formerly of Lyons, died Monday, March 2, 1998 after suffering a stroke February 18, 1998. Mrs. DeDee was born in Lyons on February 23, 1912, the daughter of Fred and Fannie Sucher. She attended Lyons Central School. She and her husband owned C.B.L. Trailer Sales and DeDee Home Appliances for 40 years until 1981, when she moved to Florida with her husband, "Bill" DeDee. Mrs. DeDee was a member of the Arcadia Reformed Church of Newark.
