Lynch, Gertrude E. - Gertrude E. Lynch, age 87, of Marion, died Thursday, September 24, 1998. Internment in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. She is survived by two nieces, Frances (Roger) Boise of Marion, Emogene (Dr. Joseph) Sastic of Pilgrove, New Jersey; Grandnieces and nephews.

Barnes, William E. - William E. Barnes, 70, of Lock Street, Clyde died September 25, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Barnes was born in Lyons on January 2, 1928. He was the son of the late Harold and Evelyn Lewis Barnes. He was a lifetime resident of Clyde and a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948 and was a member of the American Legion Post 1. He was a past member of the VFW Post 908 in Newark. He retired from the Fold-Pak Co. of Newark, where he orked in production control. Interment in Rose Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Pauline "Polly" Lootens Barnes of Clyde; three daughters, Marlene (Gary) McIlwain of Newark, Brenda (Raymon) Hendershot and Sue (Steve) Ferguson, both of Clyde; sister, Elizabeth (Henry) DiSanto of Clyde and six granddaughters.

Weeks, Earle - Earle R. Weeks, 75, of Butternut Street, Lyons, died on September 26, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center, Newark after an extended illness. Earle was born in the Town of Rose on March 1, 1923 son of Russell and Hazel Boyle Weeks. He was a graduate of North Rose High School and Simmons School of Mortuary Science. He owned and operated the Weeks Funeral Home in Lyons for 46 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the NYS Funeral Directors Association in which he served as District Governor of District 7, also he was member of the Lyons Rotary Club, served as past President, and was honored by the Club in 1988 as a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Hook and Ladder Company of the Lyons Fire Deptartment, Humanity Lodge 406 F&AM and Eureka Grange. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Thora Reynolds Weeks; daughters, Barbara (Bruce) Wilkins of Connecticut, Sharon (Anthony) Tiballi of Lyons, Dawn (Joe) Palmer of Batavia; six grandchildren; one uncle, Ernest Davey of Lyons, and cousins.

Epstein, Roy V. - Roy V. Epstein, 48, of Brantling Hill Road, Sodus, died on September 24, 1998 at Rochester General Hospital. Mr. Epstein was born in Brooklyn and was a resident of Sodus for 23 years. He was the son of Carl Epstein and the late Marion Kodish Epstein. He was a graduate of, Brockport State University and owned and operated the Roy V. Epstein Dental Lab in Webster. An avid mountain biker, he was a member of Rochester Bicycling Club. He was also a member of the Temple Beth El in Geneva. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Susan; a son, Keith, at Cornell University; a daughter, Margot, at home; his father, Carl Epstein of Toms River, NJ; a brother, Donald of Boulder, Colorado; nieces, nephews and cousins.

VanHall, Jacob H. - Jacob H. VanHall, 96, of Marion died September 27, 1998 in DeMay Living Center, Newark. Interment in Marion Cemetery. Jacob was a retired farmer and was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Zonneville. He is survived by his son, Elmer (Betty) VanHall of Newark; 3 grandchildren, Steven and Pam VanHall of Palmyra, James (Nancy) VanHall of White Cloud, Michigan; daughter, Yvonne (Timothy) Lead of Newark; 7 great-grandchildren.

Gilkeson, William H. - William H. Gilkeson, 80, of W. Union Street, died September 27, 1998, at Via Health, Newark. Mr. Gilkeson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, September 27, 1918, the son of Harold and Margaret Gadle Gilkeson. He served in the Army in World War II. Mr. Gilkeson was a resident of Newark for many years.Interment at the Newark Cemetery. He is survived by a brother, David Gilkeson of St. Paul, Minn.; sister Virginia Hall of Rochester; nieces and nephews; and close friends, the Thomas Dutcher family of Newark.

Bloomer, Kenneth W. - Kenneth W. Bloomer, 41, of North Rose, died in Strong Memorial Hospital on September 25, 1998. He suffered injuries in an automobile accident. Mr. Bloomer was employed by the Town of Ontario as a water treatment plant operator. Mr. Bloomer is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, Eric and Matthew; step-father, Thomas Rittenhouse of Wolcott; sisters, Kerry Bernstein of Queens, and Melissa Bloomer of Newark; brothers, Keith Bloomer of Clyde, Kelly Rittenhouse of South Butler, Kris Rittenhouse of Wolcott, Charles Bloomer of Newark, Franklin Bloomer of Clyde; father-in-law, James L. Randall of North Rose; sisters-in-law, Beverly Randall Garrison of Rochester and Barbara Randall of Blossvale,; brother-in-law, James Lee Randall of North Rose; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nittolo, A. James - A. James Nittolo, 50, of Newark, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Clifton Springs Hospital following a brief illness. Jim was born July 1, 1948 in Newark. He was currently employed at Abram Cleason Company. Jim was a member of the Newark Fire Department (Arcadia Hose Company), Newark Elks Club and Sons of the American Legion. He had served as a member of the Wayne County Sheriffs Patrol Division as well as several police departments. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara (Baran); son, Todd of Newark; mother, Hazel of Newark; sister, Judy (John McCarthy) of Rochester; several uncles, aunts, cousins and many close friends. Jim's father Frank died in 1993.

Melendez, Florence L. - Florence Melendez, 83, of Shortsville, died on September 18, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. Melendez was a nurse's aide at the Canandaigua V.A. Medical Center and at the Newark Developmental Center. Interment in the Rose Ridge Cemetery of Naples. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Donley of Newark; sons, Terry Williamson (fiancee Kim Jones) of Shortsville and Thomas Estey; two sisters, Evelyn Miller of Dundee and Helen Miles of Rushville; nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband.

Boehmler, Robert - Robert Boehmler, 83, of Sisson Street, Lyons died at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus on Monday, September 21, 1998. Mr. Boehmler was born in Lyons on February 2, 1915, a son of Albert and Sarah Graf Boehmler. He was a graduate of Lyons and received his music teaching degree at Ithaca College. He taught in the Palmyra-Macedon School District for many years. He is survived by many friends in Wayne County. Interment at the Rural Cemetery.

Schoonerman, Frances - Frances Schoonerman, 85, of Marion died on September 21, 1998. Interment Marion Cemetery. O.E.S Services were held on Wednesday. Frances is survived by her daughter, Carol (Gary) Hopkins, Hempstead, NC; grandson, Todd Hopkins, Olean; sister, Thelma "Pat" (Wayne) Williamson of Sodus Point; brother, Lloyd (Thelma) Haak of Pultneyville; sister-in law, Inez Gaskin of Pittsford; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan Schoonerman.

Taylor, Lois D. - Lois D. Taylor, 57, of Newark, died September 20, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Robert; four sons, Daniel, Douglas (Linda), Donald (Chris) and Dale; father, Melvin Dickinson of Palmyra; and five grandchildren. Lois was predeceased by son David and daughter Diane.

Ross, Jeffery T. - Jeffery T. Ross, 42, of Prospect St. Newark, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 22, 1998. Mr. Ross was born Feb. 29, 1956, in Newark, the son of Lewis and Nancy (Goetzman) Ross, Jr. Jeffery worked for Kodak in Rochester, where he was a quality control technician. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Jeff loved baseball and was an ardent Yankee fan. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (DeJohn) Ross; a daughter, Jennifer Ross; a son, Michael Ross; and granddaughter, Allessandra Meehan, all of Newark; parents, Lewis and Nancy; two sisters, Sharon (Michael) Concert and Stephanie (Roy) Raup; several nieces and nephews, all of Newark; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Stanton, Lester N. - Lester N. Stanton, 81, of Ellerton, FL and Walworth, died September 22, 1998 at home after an extended illness. He was a farmer, a retiree of The American Can Company, and served as a member of the Marion School Board for many years. He and his wife Helen retired to Florida in 1972, where he maintained a lifelong interest in sailing, golf, cattle and crop farming. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Helen Paige; sons, Robert (Mary) of Walworth, Paige (Karen) of Marion, David (Fran) of Ontario; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dewey; 4 children, Valerie (John) L'huillier of Richmond, VA, Rosalie Nealon and special friend, Larry VanDamme of Sodus, Natalie (Edward) Scribner of Newark, Steven (Christina) Golden of Dover, DE; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her father, George Privatera of Eden, NY; 2 brothers, Giro (Sally) Privatera of Colonial Heights, VA and Charles (Vera) Privatera of North Collins, NY; several nieces and nephews.

McCleery, Marjorie - Marjorie McCleery, of Franklin, PA, formerly of Sodus, died June 26, 1998 in Franklin.

Dobbelaere, Hazel M. - Hazel M. Dobbelaere 87, of Marbletown Road, died Tuesday, September 15, 1998 at the her home. Mrs. Dobbelaere was born January 4, 1911 in Lyons, the daughter of Carl and Winifred Shaw Ormsbee. She retired from Hallagan Mfg., where she had worked for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been an active member of the Newark Fire Department Auxiliary. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter Sandra (John) Stockton of Rochester, a stepson Robert (Mary) Dobbelaere of Sodus Point; five grandchildren, Kelly Stockton, Tracy Juda, Christen Kennedy, Carie and Jeffery Dobbelaere; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Michael Kennedy, also a niece and nephew. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1994 and by a brother Carl Ormsbee and sister Bernice Ormsbee.

Dorst, Adrienne H. - Adrienne H. Dorst, 84, of 44 Sheraton Dr., Ithaca, died Sunday, September 13, 1998 at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Lula Pray Hougham and wife of the late Rev. Frederick W. Dorst who was the former Rector of St. Mark's Church in Newark. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Ithaca. Mrs. Dorst is survived by her son, Frederick W. Dorst of Richmond, VA; daughter, Martha D. Monske of Seaside Park, NJ; four granddaughters, Anne Monske, Katherine Monske, Sara Plumb and Kaitlyn Dorst; sister, Lucile Carlyon Davis of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Adrienne was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Mills and Ruth Sanderson.

Foster, Mildred M. - Mildred M. Foster, 87, of Heath St., Newark died Sept. 4, 1998 at Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mrs. Foster was born in Old Forge on Aug. 23, 1911, the daughter of George and Grace Parrish McDougall. She was a bookkeeper for McDougall's Garage in Newark. Mrs. Foster was predeceased by her husband, Ellsworth J. in 1972. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. LaVerne (Barbara) Krebbeks of Newark; a sister, Marion Feiock of Newark; two grandchildren, Ted G. and Laurie L. Krebbeks: one greatgrandson, Ed Krebbeks: nieces and nephews.

Blake, Margaret M. (Maggie) - Margaret M. (Maggie) Blake, 42, of Van Auken Road, died at Strong Memorial Hospital, Saturday, August 29, 1998 as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Newark-Marion Road. Maggie was born to George and Phyllis Feller Spiegel, March 4, 1956 in Great Neck, Long Island. She was employed at City Mattress in Penfield. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Patrick Blake; her father, and stepmother George and Barbara Spiegel of Long Island; brother, Eric Spiegel of Long Island; several nieces and nephews and a community of friends who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her mother, Phyllis, and her brother Fred Spiegel.

Howard, Whitney Harrison - Whitney Harrison Howard, 74, of Edgett St., Newark, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, peacefully at his daughter's home in Clifton Springs. Mr. Howard was born to Harrison and Myrtle Parker Howard on Oct. 4, 1923 in Newark. He retired from Cohber Press in Henrietta where he worked as a printer. The funeral home proudly flies the Marine Corps flag in honor of Mr. Howard's service to our country during WWII. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Clifton Springs. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret Cheeseman Howard; son, Mark Howard of Arizona; daughters, April Howard of North Tonawanda and Cynthia (Rodney) Ver Dow of Clifton Springs. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Howard DuRei in 1992.

Iocco, James M. - James M. Iocco, 78, of Iocco Road, Savannah, died at the Newark Campus of ViaHealth on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998. Mr. Iocco was born in Savannah and was a retiree of Fold-Pak of Newark. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Harper Iocco; four daughters, Vicky (Ron) Harrington and Laurie (Scott) Anderson all of Pulaski, Cindy (Tony) Castellano of Clyde and Trudy (David) Chapman of Attica, as well as, eight grandchildren.

Ferguson, Helen G. - Helen G. Ferguson of Carrollton, TX, formerly of Newark, died Friday, September 4, 1998, at her home in Carrolton. Mrs. Ferguson was born to Peter and Mary (Mullin) Gresgen on July 7, 1911 in Utica, NY. Helen was a graduate of Oswego State Teachers College. For 38 years, she taught 4th grade in the Newark School District; she retired in 1974. A communicant of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Carrollton and St. Michael Catholic Church in Newark, she was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. Helen was an avid bridge player, belonging to several bridge clubs over the years. Interment in the Newark Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann (Doug) Josvoll of Carrollton, TX; son, John (Jan) Ferguson of Newark; two grandchildren, Kristin Josvoll and Bree Ferguson; sister, Gertrude Farrell of Melbourne, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, in 1977 and a son, Michael, in 1975.

Jones, Charles H. - Charles H. Jones of W. Maple Ave., Newark, died Friday, September 4, 1998, at the DeMay Living Center, Newark. Mr. Jones was born Nov. 21, 1910 to James and Lulu Hopkins Jones. He was a papermaker at Bloomer Bros. for 43 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Grace (Soper) Jones and several nieces and nephews.

Caruso, Fannie - Fannie Caruso, 82, of Fairport, formerly of Newark, died September 7, 1998, in Rochester. Mrs. Caruso was born in Newark May 9, 1916, daughter of Anthony and Madeline Nardozzi Furfaro. She worked for many restaurants; the last one was Infantino's Restaurant on Lake Avenue in Rochester as a hostess. She had lived in Fairport and Rochester for the last 30 years. She attended St. Michael's Church in Newark in her earlier years. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Caruso is survived by two sons, Ralph Anthony of Henrietta and Anthony Joseph (Linda) of Newark; three grandsons, Anthony J. Jr., and Gino A. of Newark, Ralph A. of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Gloria Galtieri of Newark, Peggy DeCola of Geneva; two brothers, John Furfaro of Rochester, Jerry Furfaro of Newark; nieces and nephews.

Courtney, Mary J. - Mary J. Courtney, 77, of Phelps, died on September 7, 1998, in Waterloo. Mrs. Courtney was born in Newark, July 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Edward and Emma Leader Courtney. She had resided in Phelps for 25 years, having moved from Clifton Springs. She was retired from the New York Telephone Company. She was a member of the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, Clifton Springs, and a member of the New York Telephone Company Pioneers, Newark. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Clifton Springs. She is survived by three stepdaughters, Mrs. Elaine (Edward) Williams of Savannah, Mrs. Linda (Edward) Shaffer and Mrs. Karen (Daniel) Cataldi of Lyons; two stepsons, William (Barbara) Courtney of Hamburg, NY, and Ronald (Linda) Courtney of Victor; several stepgrandchildren; dear friend, Lawton "Rebel" Key of Waterloo; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Rasch, in 1962; second husband, Harry Courtney, in 1990; brother, Richard Johnson, in 1954.

Reynolds, Richard G. - Richard G. Reynolds, Sr., 80, of Palmyra, died on September 8, 1998. He was predeceased by his wife, Caroline Reynolds. Survived by a son, Richard Reynolds, Jr.; 3 daughters, Judith (Thomas) Ruff, Elaine (Jim) Gamble, and Michelle ("Mick") (Robert) Brennan; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harold (Arlene) Reynolds, John (Lena) Reynolds; sister Mary (Fred) Donaldson; and many nieces and nephews.

Witt, Margaret H. - Margaret H. Witt, 86, formerly of Lea Drive, Newark died September 9, 1998 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Witt was the daughter of Frank and Margaret Downs Howley, born on January 5, 1912 in Newark. She retired from New York Telephone in Newark in 1974. She was a member of St. Michael Church and the Legion of Mary of Newark and the New York Telephone Pioneers. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Bonnie Witt of Newark; William and Patricia Witt of Rochester; daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Dennis Terhaar of St. Louis, MO; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Witt of Seneca Falls; nephew Robin Witt. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Witt in 1980 and her daughter Ann Newton in 1991.

Birch, Sylvia M. - Sylvia M. Birch, 93, formerly of Macedon, died on Aug. 26, 1998 in Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Birch was born in Towanda, PA on June 13, 1905, a daughter of Burt and Eva Nichols Myers. She lived in Texas for 11 years and was a member of the Macedon Senior Citizens. Mrs. Birch lived in Macedon for several years. Interment in St. Ann's Cemetery, Palmyra. Mrs. Birch is survived by two daughters, Charlene (Donald) Mack of Azle, Texas, and Leona (Robert) Alvut of Fairport; two sons, James of Sodus, formerly of Newark, and Charles of Montana; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Lemual Myers of Niagara Falls, NY; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ross, in 1984; daughter-in-law, Lela Birch on Oct. 3, 1997; and son, William, in 1970.

Caves, Gladys M. - Gladys M. Caves, 90, a resident of the Seneca Nursing Home in Phelps, died August 28, 1998. She was born in Phelps to Peter and Fanny Goetzman Caves on Jan. 8, 1908. She was a life-long area resident and was a bookkeeper for the Caves family lumber yards in Phelps and Newark. Interment in the Resthaven Cemetery, Phelps. Surviving are her cousin, Leon (Ruth) Bartleson of North Rose and several second and third cousins.

Heald, Albert C. - Albert C. Heald, 78, of Sodus, died August 28, 1998 at ViaHealth in Sodus. He was born March 15, 1920 in Sodus, to Charles and Urania Arnold Heald. He was an auto mechanic for 30 years for Scofield Motors and Marvin Buick-Pontiac in Newark. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newark. He belonged to the Pioneer Gas Engine Assn. and NYS Steam Engine Assn. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Wedman Heald; three daughters, Mrs. James (Dolores) Salerno of Marion, Mrs. Lawrence (Ruby) Frey, and Mrs. Steven (Valorie) McDonald of Sodus; five grandchildren; a sister, Helen Hartnagle of Newark; sisters-in-law, Mary and Madeline Heald; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son, Gary in 1960.

Backus, Claude John, Sr. - Claude John Backus, Sr., 70, of Bostwick Road, Phelps, died on August 28, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. Backus is survived by his wife, Laratte; four children, Claudia McAbee, Roger Backus and Joy Backus, all of Phelps, and Claude Backus Jr. of Clifton Springs; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Lester and Roy of Phelps, and Carl of Newark; two sisters in Phelps, Bernie Borner and Irene Cestte.

VanSchaffel, Carol - Carol VanSchaffel, 48, died September 1, 1998. She was an employee of Ashley Insurance in Williamson and a member of the Finger Lakes Regional Insurance Company. She was active with the Boy Scouts. Interment in Marion Cemetery. Carol is survived by 2 sons, James of Newark, and Carl, in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, OK; her mother, Nancy DeFisher of Ellenton, FL; 3 sisters, Barbara (Paul) DeLue, Patricia (Gordon) DePoint, Deborah (Stephen) Roegiers, all of Marion; her ex-husband, James of Newark; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Richard DeFisher.

Prober, Carl M. - Carl M. Prober, 90, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Mr. Prober leaves two sons, Charles (Peggy) Prober of Rose, and Carl F. Prober; three daughters, Lois Shwock of TX, Beverly (Eldon) Cook of OK, and Marlene (Gary) Roeschlaub of OK; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernie Prober of Manchester; one sister, Hilda DeLue of Marion; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Avis, and a son, Terry Lee.

Bennett, Alice M. - Alice M. Bennett, 73, of Old Route 31, died on Aug. 22, 1998 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. She was born in Clyde on July 25, 1925, the daughter of Rocco and Angeline (Jemmerino) DiSanto. She retired in 1987 from the Newark Developmental Center and was a member of St. Michael Church, Newark. Entombment in St. John's Mausoleum, Clyde. She was predeceased by a brother, Rocco DiSanto, and a sister, Mamie D'Augustine.

Harrington, Josephine M. - Josephine M. Harrington, 49, died at her home on Aug. 21, 1998 after a brief illness. Josephine was born the daughter of Arthur and Anna Poli Harrington on Sept. 3, 1948, in Lyons. Burial in East Palmyra Cemetery. Josephine is survived by her mother, Anna of Newark; brother, Arthur Jr. of Seneca Falls; sisters, Sarah (Fred) Mays of Newark and Rose (George) Schuldt of Lyons; many nieces and nephews.

Santelli, Pasquale A. "Patsy" - Patsy A. Santelli, of Murray Street, died Aug. 23, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. Santelli was born April 3, 1928, in Newark, the son of John and Theresa Muoio Santelli. Patsy had worked at the Wayne County Nursing Home for 12 years, retiring in 1994. Prior to that, he was the warehouse manager at C.W. Stuart Nursery in Newark for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Church. Patsy was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army in the occupation of Japan. Interment will be in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth (Allen) Santelli; four children, John (Laura) Santelli, Betty (Theodore) Miller, Michael (Gail) Santelli, and David Santelli; seven grandchildren, Allen Miller, Christopher Santelli, Patrick Santelli, Justin Miller, Jennifer Santelli, Andrew Santelli, Trevor Santelli; and a sister, Mary (Donald) VerStraete, all of Newark.

Leoni, Amanda Grace - Amanda Grace Leoni, 18, of Lyons, died Tuesday, August 25, 1998 at Via Health of Wayne, Newark Campus. Amanda was born in Geneva on September 17, 1979, the daughter of James and Joanne Muto Leoni. She was a graduate of Lyons High School, Class of 1997, where she was in the Honor Society, a cheerleader for the football and basketball teams, and she played in the school band. Amanda would have been a sophomore at St. Joseph's University In Philadelphia. She was a member of Sigma Phi Sorority. This summer, Amanda worked at the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES in special education at the North Street School in Geneva, where she was a teacher's aide for children ages 8 to 11. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Amanda is survived by her parents, James and Joanne Muto Leoni of Lyons; a brother, Andrew James of Lyons; maternal grandparents. Dominic and Grace Muto of Lyons; paternal stepgrandfather, Robert Loveless of Lyons; aunts, Carol Muto of Rochester, Linda (Leoni) KGuss of CA, and Donna (Leoni) Carr of Clyde; uncles, Thomas Muto of Wolcott, Paul Muto of Clyde, and Nicholas Leoni of Rochester; great-aunts, Ann (Muto) Malek of Pittsburgh, PA, Rosemarie Muto of Lyons, Alice Colasurdo of Clyde and Dulcia "Sis" Miller of Clyde; great-uncle, Robert Muto of Lyons; several nieces and nephews. Kneut, Robert - Robert Kneut, 69, of 4557 Route 31, Palmyra, died on Aug. 14, 1998 at the Wayne County Health Facility. Mr. Kneut owned and operated his own farm, before retiring in 1975. He was later employed by DeWitt Concrete. He was also a member of the Port Gibson Fire Department. Mr. Kneut is survived by his wife Arloa of Palmyra; two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Judy Kneut of Clifton Springs, and David and Lori Kneut of Virginia Beach; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Kathy and Stephen Roeland of Clifton Springs, Theresa and Bobby Dorgan of Phelps, Cindy and Kirk McCreary of Cicero, and Christine Shield of Clayton, NC; three stepchildren and their spouses, Clay and Sharon Burke of Lyons; Scott Burke of Palmyra; and Susan and Johnny Wes Scott; his mother, Elizabeth Kneut of Newark; two sisters, Margie Galen of Rushville, and Alice Klahm of Clifton Springs; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Boeheim, Charles A. - Mr. Charles A. Boeheim, 69, of Clifford Hill, Leesburg, FL, formerly of Lyons, died on July 27, 1998. Mr. Boeheim was born in Lyons. He served on the Lyons Board of Education for 11 years. Mr. Boeheim was a former Chairman of Lyons Republican Committee, Past Exalted Ruler and 50 year member of BPO Elks Lodge 869 of Lyons. He was a trustee of Lyons Village Board and vice-mayor for three years. He was a charter member and past treasurer of Wayne Hills Country Club, member of Lyons Fire Department National Association of Accountants, and ATO Fraternity. He was a retired comptroller for Borden, Inc. Mr. Boeheim was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He moved to Leesburg in 1990 and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg. Mr. Boeheim is survived by his wife, Sue A. Boeheim of Leesburg, Fla.; daughters, Linda (Paul) Hines of Rome, Ga., and Dawn Boeheim of Fairport, N.Y.; a son, Charles T. (Chidori) Boeheim of Redwood City, Calif.; twin brother, John (June) Boeheim of Santa Ana, Calif.; four grandchildren, James, Nicole, Adrian and Meredith; several nieces and nephews.Mr. Boeheim was preceded in death by his brothers, Frederick T. and James A., and sister, Lulu.

VanHoover, Isaac Jeffery - Issac Jeffery VanHoover of Williamson, died on August 12, 1998. The infant was the son of Jeffery and Katrina Ameele VanHoover; he is also survived by his brother, Abram; grandparents, David and Mary Jane VanHoover of Williamson, James and Susan Ameele of Williamson; great-grandparents, Elsie VanHoover of Newark, Milton and Maggie Ameele of Walworth, Arthur and Rosie Becker of Sodus.

Stirpe, Connie - Mary "Connie" Stirpe, 74, of Sunset Drive, Lyons, died on Aug. 14, 1998 at her home. Mrs. Stirpe was born in Leeds, England, on Jan. 7, 1924, the daughter of Robert and Evelyn Smith Ward. She worked with her husband, Tony, and was a member of St. Michael's Church. She served in World War II in the British Women's Land Army in England. Besides her husband of 53 years, Mrs. Stirpe is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Shirley Stirpe of Arizona; a brother, Robert (Dorothy) Ward of Filey, England; a grandson, Anthony (Deirdre) Stirpe of Arizona; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Russell) Sanders and Natalie Stirpe, both of Arizona; two great-grandsons, Christian and Lucas Sanders; special niece Connie Cluderay of Leeds, England; and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stirpe was predeceased by a brother, John Ward.

Chapin, Glenn Robert - Glenn Robert Chapin, 50, of Woodruff Rd., Huron, died at Myers Hospital on August 15, 1998.He is survived by his wife, Judith; four children, Heather (Todd) Rudy of Huron, Robyn Martha, at home, Nathan Robert of Hickam AFB, Adam Charles, at home; parents, Glenn and Florence Chapin of Huron; three sisters, Janice (James) Schley of Canton, CT, Holly (Gilbert) Burgess of Newark, Elise (Edward) Gaylord of Lyons; three brothers, Arthur (Patricia), Douglas (Robin), all of Huron, Donald (Laureen) of Rockaway, NJ; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Diana in 1966.

Siler, John A. Jr. - John A. Siler, Jr., 64, of Naples, Florida died on August 11, 1998. Mr. Siler was born and raised in Newark. A Korean War Veteran, Mr. Siler was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose, American Legion and Volunteer Firefighters of Newark. He enjoyed hunting and golfing and was an avid photographer. He is survived by his companion, Leslie Browning, three children, Michael A. Siler and Christopher J. Siler both of Naples, and Jean Marie Siler of Newark; three brothers - Hubert, Francis and Richard Siler all of Newark; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Cora Johnston.

Hager, John H. - John H. Hagar, 57, of Newark died unexpectedly on August 16, 1998 at Via Health, Newark Campus. John is survived by his wife, Judith Rahm Hagar; sons Richard Hagar of Newark and John (Christine) Hagar Jr. of Clifton Springs; four grandchildren, Amanda Lynn Halligan, Judith Murray Hagar, Matthew John Hagar and Samantha Maria VanWinkle.

VandenBout, Milton C. - Milton C. VandenBout, 89, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, died July 31, 1998 at St. Joseph of the Pines Nursing facility. He moved from Palmyra in 1980, after he retired from the VandenBout Assoc. of Palmyra. He is survived by his wife, Beryl; a son, Neil VandenBout of Rochester; daughter, Meredith B. Davis of Sarasota, Florida and four grandchildren.

Pulver, Edmond M. - Edmond M. "Ed" Pulver, 83, of North Goodman Street, Rochester, died on Aug. 6, 1998 at Genesee Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Pulver was born in Fairville on Sept. 11, 1914, a son of William and Matie Eyer Pulver. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester and had lived in Rochester. He was a member of the Palmyra Moose Club. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Lyons. Mr. Pulver is survived by two brothers, Russell (Irene) and William of Newark; three sisters, Mabel Costello of Brighton, Matie Lehn of Lyons, Adele Siers of Howell, NJ; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Dayton, in 1995.

Kunkel, Gail Bevis - Gail Bevis Kunkel, 55, of Alexandria, VA died on August 4, 1998 of complications following major hip replacement surgery. Mrs. Kunkel grew up in Newark, where she attended Newark High School. She also attended Salve Regina College in Newport, Rhode Island, and earned her degree in fashion merchandising in 1963 from Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston, Massachusetts. Following her graduation from Chamberlain, she spent several years as a buyer for Filenes Department Store in Boston, and the next 12 years running showrooms for a clothing manufacturer, John Meyer of Norwich in Boston, Chicago and New York, collaborating with famous designer Perry Ellis on new clothing designs for the John Meyer Line. She traveled extensively throughout the United States in the 1970's with her husband William, a broadcasting executive. Since 1981, she has been a resident of Alexandria, VA. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and the Campagna Center in Alexandria, and a devoted wife and mother who loved interior decorating and gardening. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, William Robert Kunkel, Jr. and her two children, Kara Kunkel Butcher of Richmond, VA, and Craig Andrew Kunkel of Nantucket, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bevis of Daytona Beach, Florida.

House, Doris M. - Doris M. House, 83, of Palmyra, died on August 8, 1998. Widow of Verne House, she and her husband formerly owned and operated Valley Drive Inn Restaurant and House's Motel in Newark. Interment East Newark Cemetery.She is survived by her devoted daughter, Carolann (Gordon) Provoost of Palmyra; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her twin brother, Donald Heaslip of Watertown and brother, Thomas Heaslip of Watertown; sister, Wilda Froyzell of Watertown; nieces and nephews.

Bird, Charles A. - Charles A. "Chuck" Bird, 69, of Grace Avenue, died Monday, August 10, 1998, at Via Health of Wayne in Newark. Mr. Bird was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a son of George and Selina Drysdale Bird. He was a 1958 graduate of the University of Rochester. A certified public accountant, Bird came to Newark over 30 years ago, where he was associated with the Bauman accounting firm. In 1984, he retired from the firm of Bergmark, Bird & Butera. Bird was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, Newark Country Club, Newark Elks Lodge, and Newark Rotary, which he served as treasurer for many years. Chuck Bird received the Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Rochester. He is survived by his son, David (Susan), and their children, Holly and Jeffrey, all of Hilton; and brother, George Bird Jr. of Phoenixville, PA. Bird was predeceased by his wife, Wilma, April 4, 1992.

O'Connor, Sarah V. - Sarah V. O'Connor, 89, Newark, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, August 11, 1998 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. O'Connor was born the daughter of George and Ethel Fry Entz, July 31, 1909, in Williamsport, PA. She worked and retired from Sotos International Inc., in Geneva. Mrs, O'Connor was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church. Interment at Memorial Springs Shores Presbyterian Church, Ocala, FL. Mrs. O'Connor is survived by her sisters Mrs. Myrtle Smith, Mrs. Edith DeVries, both of Newark, and Mrs. Pearl Fisk of Clyde, many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Paul O'Connor, predeceased her in 1953.

Finewood, Alice C. - Alice C. Finewood, 92, of Newark, died Sunday, August 9, 1998 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Finewood was born, Sept. 4, 1905, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Peter and Julia DeCook Maslyn. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and for many years was an assistant leader in the Crossroad 4-H Club. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.She is survived by two daughters, Eleanor (Roger) Brennessel of Newark, and Marjorie (Thomas) Murray of Spring, TX; five grandchildren, Daniel Brennessel, Diane Allerton, Corrine Millspaugh, Randy and Carmen Alvarez, eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Elizabeth Kneut of Newark, several nieces and nephews.

Mundy, Dr. Edward A. - Dr. Edward A. Mundy, formerly of Newark, died August 10, 1998, at home in North Tonawanda, after a long illness. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda. Craft, Claude E. "Chick" - Claude E. "Chick" Craft, 78, died on July 30, 1998 at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark. Chick was born the son of Walter and Bessie Victory Craft, July 1920 in Greenville, SC. He was a retiree of Seneca Foods Corporation in Marion. The funeral home proudly flies the Navy flag in honor of Chick's service to our country during World War II. Chick was an avid musician, having been a male country vocalist in Rochester. He was an honorary member of the New York State Sheriffs Association Institute Inc. Interment will be in Marion Cemetery.Chick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Loretta Yates Craft; five sons; six daughters, 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister.

Bush, Deborah S. - Deborah S. Bush, 41, died on July 30, 1998 in Strong Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Bush had worked as a secretary of Elderlee Company in Oaks Corners. She was born in Newark on Oct. 4, 1956, and was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, William R. Bush; two daughters, Jennifer and Dana; two grandchildren, Ryan and Chloe; her parents, Harry and Florence Wilkins of East Palmyra; brother, Donald (Drema) Wilkins of Palmyra; a sister, Jeanne (Alan) Garlock of Zionsville, Ind.

Vohs, Charles F. Sr. - Charles F. Vohs Sr., 74, of Newark died July 30, 1998 at the ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mr. Vohs was born in Lyons on Feb. 24, 1924. He was a son of Christopher and Lula Blodgett Vohs. He was a farmer all his life, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Mr. Vohs was a life member of the Arcadia VFW Post 2883, and member of the American Legion Post 286 of Newark. He attended Hope Lutheran Church. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary Nuciola Vohs; two sons, Charles Jr. of Newark, Alvin of Canandaigua; one daughter, Janet Marie Medley of Rochester; a sister, Marie Raymond of Aldion; one brother, Richard, of Sumter, SC; 10, grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews;, and a good friend, John Palmer of Newark. He was predeceased by daughters, Cathy Marie LaCroix, in 1991, and Connie Vohs.

Monroe, Elizabeth M. - Elizabeth M. Monroe of Roswell, died July 26, 1998, at a nursing home. Elizabeth was born May 31, 1898, in Munsville, NY, to Charles and Mary Evans March. She married Irving Monroe on July 24, 1937, in Wheeling, WV. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 533, in Palmyra, a member of the Historic Palmyra and the Telegraph Union. She was a member of Zion Episcopal Church in Palmyra and was a member of the choir for 25 years. Mrs. Monroe had been a manager of Western Union 791 on Pre-Emption Rd. Survivors include a brother, David March of Munsville. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Nodecker and a brother, Arthur March.

Cooper, Jean T. - Jean T. Cooper of Williamson, died Saturday, August 1, 1998 at age 73. She was the Editor of the Williamson Sun since the death of her husband, Steven D. Cooper, on March 28, 1974. She is survived by two sons, J. Patrick (Susanna) Adams and David G. (Stephanie) Cooper; a daughter, Nancy A. Hanna-Paquin (Guy Paquin); granddaughter, Amber J. Hanna; grandsons, Gabriel A. Hanna, Christopher J. Adams and Michael P. Adams; sister, Ann T. Cooney; a niece and two nephews.

Woodcox, Suzanne - Suzanne Woodcox of Palmyra, age 88, died July 26, 1998 at Blossom View Nursing Home, Sodus. Suzanne was born March 5, 1910 in Mt. Eagle Valley, Ontario, Canada. She had lived in NY State and California, where she worked in food service, hospitality and tourism industries, mostly in the Palm Springs and Lake Tahoe areas. Survivors include sister Edna Bahm of Arnprior, Ontario; predeceased by three sisters including Mary Lyon of Bath. She is survived by nephews and nieces, including Autumn Kubissa of Palmyra Road, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

Beman, Maurice D. - Maurice D. Beman, 81, of West Ave., Newark, died at home on Monday, August 3, 1998, after an extended illness. Maurice was born in Elmira, a son of Philip H. and Elsie Martin Beman on January 16, 1917. He was a veteran of the Army. He served from 1937-39, and in the Military Police Company in 1945. He was a truck driver for more than 30 years. He was a member and past Master of the Lyons Humanity Lodge #406 F&AM; a 32nd-degree Mason; a member of VFW Post 5092, Corning Consistory, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Newark. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Blanche Case Beman; 2 sons, Thomas (Joyce) Sr., of Red Creek; Ronald (Brenda), Sr. of Lyons; daughter, Joan Beman of Newark; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grand children; brother, Philip J. Beman of Newark; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Faye Beman and Lyle Lockwood.

Bovet, Donald W. - Donald W. Bovet, MD, 88, of Marion, died August 4, 1998. Dr. Bovet was Marion's retired "country doctor" and a WWII Army veteran. He was a charter member of the Marion Rotary Club, member of the Wayne County and New York State Medical Society, Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Fingerlakes and Penfield Symphony, former School Doctor and Health Officer for both Marion and Walworth, and attended St. Gregory's Church. Interment in the Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Zoe Batsleer Bovet; 3 daughters, Jeanne (Walter) Beecher of Marion; Jacqueline Castle, Buffalo; Judith (Keith) Bovet-Egnor, Farmington; a son, John (Jean) Bovet, Marion; 7 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons; sisters, Mildred Turner of Boca Raton, FL, and Lucille Bovet, Ashville, NC.

Ioele, Joseph A. - Joseph A. Ioele died on Monday, July 27, 1998 in Palmyra. Joseph was born in Newark in 1924. He was a 1941 graduate of Newark High School and Cornell University School of Industrial & Labor Relations in 1962. He served in the First Infantry Division in WWII until 1945. Joseph married Marie Yanin of Newark in 1946. He began his career at O-Cello Corporation in Buffalo, as personnel manager before being transferred to General Mills Corporation in Minneapolis, and later to West Chicago, to handle labor relations. He returned home to the Rochester area in 1963, when he began working at Ritter Co., Sybron Corporation as Industrial and Relations-Manager and succeeded to the position of Vice President of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1968. In 1976, Joseph became Director of Industrial Relations for Carlson Companies, Naum Brothers Division. In 1984, after a long illness, Joseph founded Employee Relations Associates, Inc., Extra Help Employment Services and served as President and CEO until his death. Interment in the Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Marie Ioele; children, Kathleen A. Ioele of Palmyra, Frank J. Ioele of Rochester, Joanne M. Bailey of Rochester, Thomas C. (Lori) Ioele of Pittsford; grandchildren, Brian W. Ioele, Jeffrey D. Ioele, Kristina R. Ioele, Brennen C. Bailey, Caroline M. Ioele; sister Ange (Michael) DeJohn of Newark; brother Francis (Carroll) Ioele of Gloversville; several nieces and nephews.

Hoover, Lynford D. - Lynford D. Hoover, 16, died July 29, 1998 as a result of a farming accident at his home. Lynford was born the son of Raymond and Mabel Nolt Hoover on October 13, 1981 in Sodus. He attended the East Palmyra Christian School and worked on the family farm with his father. Interment in the Pleasant Ridge Mennonite Cemetery. He is survived by his parents; his brothers, Curtis R. Hoover of Lebanon, PA and Glenn L. Hoover of Leola, PA; his sisters, Phyllis, wife of David Ray Hurst of Lititz, PA, Ada Mae, wife of David Lee Burkholder of East Earl, PA, and Sylvia Hoover at home; three nieces, two nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Leaty, Susanne - Susanne Leaty, 76, of East Miller St., Newark, died July 16, 1998 at ViaHealth of Wayne in Newark. She was born in Shortsville March 23, 1922, to Peter and Rose Dierks DeFisher. She retired from the Newark Developmental Center in 1983 and was a member of St. Michael's Church. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Douglas) Elliott of Lyons; a companion, Candido Benitez of Newark; two sisters; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, LaVerne, in 1964.

Nier, Mary J. - Mary J. Nier, 88, of Marion, died July 15, 1998. Interment Marion Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Nier. Survived by 2 daughters, Mary Holmes of Farmington, Patricia Henry and friend, Robert Prindle, Wolcott; son, David M. Nier and fiance, Noreen NiCastro of Rochester; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Lansberry, Ora C. - Ora Claire Lansberry, 96, of Newark, formerly of Clearfield, PA, died July 16, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Lansberry was both the daughter of Elmer and Florence Hubler Coulter, February 18, 1912 in Graham Township, PA. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Newark. She worked at Chaffee's, Bern Furniture and the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mrs. Lansberry also provided private home care for many in the Newark area. She did volunteer work through the RSVP. Interment will in Crowncrest Memorial Park, Clearfield, PA. Mrs. Lansberry is survived by her son Donald (Evalyn) Lansberry of PA; her daughters, Jean Bristol, Joan (William) Gates of PA; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her brother Robert (Florence) Coulter of PA; her sisters Edna Shaw, Mabel Goss and Pauline (Jack) Bell all of PA; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Orlie in 1983; her son Melvin Lansberry in 1937, and her two grandsons, John and Jeffrey Gates in 1969.

Simmons, Jessie L. - Jessie L. Simmons, 70, of 156 Genesee St., Geneva, formerly of Newark, died July 15, 1998 at her home. Born in Wadley, Georgia, the daughter of the late King and Annie Wells Patterson, she resided in Newark for many years. She was retired from Newark Developmental Center and was a member of the Eastern Star and Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Lyons. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Jamie) Knight of Geneva; sons, Howard Simmons and Rickie VanDyke both of Newark; five grandchildren; eight brothers, the Rev. Grady O. Kemp of Newark, Carzell and Walter Kemp, both of Lyons, Willie James Kemp of Clyde, Ernest Kemp, of Philadelphia, John Henry Kemp of Clifton Springs, David and E.C. Kemp, both of Georgia; many foster children, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Derby, Paul Fredrick - Paul Fredrick Derby, 69, of Fayetteville, NC, died July 16, 1998, at Highland House of Fayetteville. He is survived by one brother, David P. Derby, of Mooresville, NC; one daughter, Marianne Modesto, of Fayetteville, NC; four grandchildren.

Fuhrmann, Carl J. - Carl J. Fuhrmann, 81, of Clearwater, Flordia, died Monday, June 29, 1998 at Suncoast Hospital in Largo, Florida. He was born in Buffalo and went to Florida in 1978 from Hatfield, PA. He worked as a factory representative for American Motors Corp. and Chrysler Auto. Corp. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Caroline (DeSmith); a son, Carl of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Nancy of Great Cagapon, WV; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Kusio, Richard W. - Richard W. Kusio, 29 of Port Gibson/North Tonowanda died July 19, 1998. Richard was born on October 11, 1968 in Newark. He spent his childhood and teen years on Faas Road in Palmyra. He attended Sunday School for 11 years at the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. Richard graduated in 1986 from Midlakes High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a 1990 graduate of Clarkson University, where he was honored as a presidential scholar. He was pursuing his masters degree in engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was employed by Praxair in Tonowanda, since 1990. Interment in Port Gibson Cemetery. Richard is survived by his mother, Mary Kusio of Newark, his father, Ronald Kusio of Perry, a sister, Anne (Paul) Fordham of Clyde, his aunts, Louise M. Kusio of Warren, PA, and Janyne Tremaine of Lebanon, PA and many friends in Buffalo, Port Gibson and Newark.

Bushart, Jacob A. - Jacob A. Bushart, 89, died on July 19 at Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. He was a retired supervisor of streets of the village of Sodus. A 55 year member of the Sodus Fire Company. Member of Sodus Masonic Lodge F & A.M. and the Wolcott Elks. Interment, Sodus Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (Zonneville) Bushart; brothers, Joe Bushart, Stanley (Isabelle) Bushart, both of Marion, Howard (Caroline) Bushart of East Williamson; sisters-in-law, Mary A. Bushart, Sarah Whipple, Elsie Kepple, all of Marion; brother-in-law, John (Katherine) DeVey of Ozark, MO; sister-inlaw, Nellie (John) Pizzutos of Penfield; several nieces and nephews.

Twist, Joan M. - Joan Twist died on Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at age 48. Survived by her son, John (Irene) Stephens of Canandaigua; 5 grandchildren, Troy Stephens, Vickie and Madeline Conners, Kristen and Katrine Dey; & a long time friend, Robert Briggs of Canandaigua also surviving are 8 brothers and sisters; William (Bev) Twist, Waterloo, Rose Palochick, Miami FL, Marlene Twist, Clifton Springs, CM "Joey" Twist, Macedon, Edith (Ray) Paone, Newark, Kathryn Twist, Clifton Springs, James (Dorothy) Twist, Seneca Falls, Thomas (Virginia) Twist, Ovid; several nieces and nephews.

Kooman, John J. - John J. Kooman, 84, of Marion, died July 24, 1998. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a retired Caves Lumber CO. employee. John and Bertha celebrated their 60th anniversary on April 7. John was a Rotarian, former Justice of the Peace, member of Marion Fire Dept. and the United Church. Interment Marion Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Bertha M. Kooman; his daughter, Brenda E. Kooman of of Webster; son, John H. (Ellen) Kooman, Lewisburg, TN; 2 grandchildren, Lisa M. (Kenneth) Hayes of TN, Leslie M. Kooman of TN; great-granddaughter, Lindsey.

Melendez, Luis M. - Luis M. Melendez, 47, of South Main St., Newark, died July 20, 1998 at his home. Luis was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Feb. 25, 1951, a son of Pedro and Clotilde Munoz Melendez. He worked in the foundry in Geneva for many years. He is survived by his father, Pedro Melendez; two sisters, Maria Gonzalez and Julia Ortiz all of Newark; four brothers, Raymond of Geneva, Hector of Detroit, Rubin of Yonkers, Pedro Jr. of Jamestown; nieces and nephews. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He was predeceased by his mother, Clotilde in 1998.

Kozinczak, Paulina - Paulina Kozinczak, 74, of Newark, died July 21, 1998. Interment in Nanuet, NY. She is survived by 2 sons, Florian (Pat) of New Hampshire and Mario (Ginny) of Lyons; sisters and brothers in Europe; 5 grandchildren; several cousins.

Wirth, Erika - Erika Wirth, 66 of Walworth, died July 22, 1998. Interment in the Marion Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Philip Wirth; her son, Reinhold(Carol) Wirth of Ballston Spa; 2 grandchildren, Alexander and Rebecca; a sister, Maria Enisz of Colorado.

Forjone, Charles A. - Charles A. (Chuck) Forjone, 60, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at home in Pittsburgh, PA. A New York native, Chuck lived in Pittsburgh for 13 years, working as a maintenance supervisor with S.E. Rykoff Food Company for the last three years. He moved to Pittsburgh from San Francisco, where he worked for Gallo Salami Company for 20 years. He was a member of the butchers union in San Francisco and enjoyed fishing coaching, bocce ball, swimming and camping. Chuck is survived by his wife of 18 years, Judy of Pittsburgh; daughters, Anastasia C. Forjone of Pittsburgh and Karen A. Smith of Newark; brothers, Larry and Ricky Forjone, both of Clyde, Ronald J. Forjone of South Butler, and Jock Forjone of Sodus; sisters, Donetta Ufholz, Georgette Taft and Theresa Forjone, all of Rose, Betty J. Simmons of Newark, Rose M. Leisenring of Sodus, Pamela Giannone of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Cheryl Cole of Clyde.

Martens, Harriet R. - Harriet R. Martens, of Palmyra, died on July 13, 1998. Mrs. Martens was a graduate of Crouse-Irving Nursing School. She worked at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and was a substitute school nurse throughout Wayne County. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; son Jon (Betsy) Martens of Ithaca; daughters Cindy (Lee) Martens-Pitts of Avon, and Karen (Roger) Weaver of Palmyra; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Joel, Bethany, Ryan and Mathew.

Hoad, James R. - James R. Hoad, 41, of Palmyra, died on July 14, 1998. He was a an employee of Mobil Chemical Company. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. He is survived by his son and daughter, Matthew and Megan; his mother, Betty L. Hoad of Newark; brothers, David (Linda) of St. Cloud, FL, and Gene (Lori Martin) of East Palmyra; his grandfather, Elwood Hall of Newark; four nieces; a nephew; aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Vincent C. Hoad.

Sidler, Margaret R. - Margaret R. Sidler of Macedon died unexpectedly on July 5, 1998. Interment in Macedon Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Edward Sidler; children, Deborah Lyke of Newark, Cheryl (Doug) Miller of Macedon, Richard (Donna) Case of Shortsville and Steward (Peggy) Case of Newark; 12 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Louise Dilts, Elsie Barnhart, Betty Elliott, Mary Miller, June Moore and Sadie Carpernter.

Heinlein, Helen G. (Betty) - Helen G, (Betty) Heinlein, 79, of Peirson Ave., Newark died on July 2, 1998 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. Heinlein was born June 7, 1919 in Greece, NY, the daughter of David and Ellen Walsh Gregg. For many years she operated the Unit Parts Store in Newark with her late husband Frank. She retired in 1986 from the Newark Developmental Center, where she had been a medical records clerk. Betty was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society. She had been an active member ofthe Newark-Wayne Community Hospital auxiliary and a volunteer for the Meal on Wheels program in Newark. Interment in the East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Douglas) Werts of Gananda and Judy Adams of Canandaigua; four grandchildren and a brother James F. (Audrey) Gregg. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1988.

Thomas, Ocie - Ocie Thomas, 67, of W. Miller Street, Newark, died at the Wayne County Nursing Home on July 1. Interment will be in Sodus Rural Cemetery. He is survived by many friends in the Lyons and Newark areas.

Bailey, Lawrence Keith - Lawrence Keith Bailey, 52, of Maple Ridge Road, Newark died on July 2, 1998 at Via Health of Wayne-Newark. Mr. Bailey was born in Penn Yan on February 16, 1946, son of Frank and Margaret Kirby Bailey. He had the franchise for H&R Block in Lyons, Wolcott and Clyde, and worked for Shur-Fine store in Marion. Mr. Bailey was a member of Fairville Fire Department, Lyons Elks Lodge 869, and was an assistant coach for the Little League Phillies in Newark. He attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church and Lyons United Methodist Church. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Geneva. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Colette Webb Bailey; two sons, Brian A. Bailey of Newark and Lawrence K. Bailey II of Newark; stepson, Christopher Simmons of Newark; daughter, Jacquelyn A. Collins of Lyons; four grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Bailey of Geneva, Harold Bailey of Dresden; sister, Ethel DeCook of Romulus; nieces and nephews.

Johnston, George F. - George F. "Boxer" Johnston, 69, of Gibson Street, Canandaigua, died July 1, 1998 at his home. Mr. Johnston was born in Canandaigua, the son of George F. and Irene (Greer) Johnston, and was a lifelong resident. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. Johnston was a member of the Canandaigua Elks Club for 35 years, the Newark VFW, the American Legion Post #256 and the Mutual Hook & Ladder Volunteer Fire Company. He was a past president of the Boathouse Owner's Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Johnston retired in 1991 from the IBEW Local Union #840 in Geneva, where he had been an electrician. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Tillie" (Townsend); daughter, Beth Marie Johnston; sister, Alma Simmons of Canandaigua; several nieces and nephews.

Demay, Mabel - Mabel Demay, 86, of Palmyra, died July 7, 1998. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Elden Demay. She is survived by her children, Flora (Samuel) Straight, Doris Boyd, Roger (Dorothy) Demay, David (Betty) Demay; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Doris Hapke, Helen Demay; sisters-in-law, Edith (William) Deys, Edith Demay; several nieces and nephews.

Dean, Betty L. - Betty L. Dean, 76, died July 7, 1998 at her home in Marion. She was retired from Mobil Chemical. Interment in West Walworth Cemetery. She is survived by four daughters, Penny (Donald) Magde of Marion, Diane (Ed) Miller of Shortsville, Virginia (Wayne) Contant of Newark and Tina (Jesse) Prestofilipo of Farmington; five sons, Charles of Marion, David (Sue) of Irondequoit, Richard of Macedon, Robert (Cheryl) of Lyons and Tom of Marion; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Turner of Red Creek. She was predeceased by a daughter, Yvonne Dean, and by her husband, Albert Dean.
