DeCook, Kenneth - Kenneth G. DeCook, 60, of Palmyra died March 29, 2001 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Roberts of Newark and Patti Dingy of Palmyra; son, Donald DeCook of Palmyra; former wife, Lynda Hedderick of Palmyra; three grandchildren; and brother, Floyd 'Al' DeCook of Florida.

Davis, Steven - Steven Robert Davis, 51, of Henrietta and Port Gibson, died March 31, 2001 at Rochester General Hospital. Steve was born the son of Aubrey and Shirley Hayward Davis on February 22, 1951 in Rochester. He was self-employed as an artist completing many works with clay and metal. Interment in Port Gibson Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Taylor Davis; son, Lawrence (Michelle) Vanderwall of Ohio; daughter, Shawn Vanderwall and her fiance, Joseph Hoyt of Palmyra; many grandchildren; parents, Aubrey and Shirley Davis of Henrietta; sisters, Denise (Peter) Scizlowski of Henrietta, and Pamela (Arthur) Hulme of PA; maternal grandmother Ruth Hayward of Rochester; mother-in-law Madalene Taylor of Port Gibson; sister-in-law Jeannette (Thomas) Delmar of Cato; nieces, nephews, good friends.

Corteville, Oscar - Oscar Jay Corteville, 80, Newark, died March 30, 2001. Oscar was a WWII veteran, having served in both the North African and European campaigns. Oscar retired after 32 years of employment from Garlock Packaging. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth; son, Gary (Mary) of Newark; three grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ethel Corteville of Newark; nieces and nephews.

Healey, Elsie - Elsie L. Healey, 86, Newark, died March 30, 2001 at Newark ViaHealth. Mrs. Healey was born Jan. 1, 1915 to Clarence and Ethel West Lindstrom. Raised in Newark, she had taught kindergarten in all three elementary schools. For 10 years after retiring from teaching, she was the executive director of the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Elsie also was a Red Cross Gray Lady and had volunteered at the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital for years. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, where she had been active in the Sunday School Program. She was a member of the Newark Country Club and had been active with the Women's Association where she had served as its president. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Gene, in 1994. She is survived by several cousins and many good friends.

Quance, Burton - Burton A. Quance, 79, died March 30, 2001 at the Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Burton was born Oct. 8, 1921 in Newark. For the last two years, Mr. Quance had been a resident at the Bethany House in Rome. He had been in the Air Force for almost 17 years; serving as a staff sergeant special investigator. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict and had served as an advisor in Vietnam in the late 1950s. After an honorable discharge, he became a civil service investigator for the government, stationed at Griffiss Air Force Base until his retirement in the early 1970s. He received numerous commendations for his work. He and his wife lived in Rome until 1981, when they moved back to the Newark area. Interment at St. Rose Cemetery in Shortsville. He is survived by his daughter, Roberta (Carlos) Piera of Madrid, Spain and Belfast, Northern Ireland; his son, Carl (Nancy) Quance of Rome; his daughter, Carol (Bob) Wilsey of Naples, FL; two grandchildren; sister, Marian Tank of Newark; brothers, Harold of Newark, Donald of Ellsmore, KY and Peter of Newark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, last June.

Porrey, Irene - Irene J. Porrey, 70, died March 30, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Porrey of Newark. Mrs. Porrey was a music teacher in the West Irondequoit Schools and a choir member at Irondequoit United Church of Christ. Interment will be in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn (Philip) Dennis; a niece and nephew.

Hutchinson, Marquerite - Marguerite I. Hutchinson, 74, died March 22, 2001 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Marguerite was born to George and Jennie Edwards Huling on July 11, 1926 in Phelps. She graduated from Niagara University as an LPN and for many years offered home care for those in need. She had volunteered for Wayne County Foster Grandparents. Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Barbara Thomas of Newark; son, Bernard Hutchinson of GA; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Helen) Huling, Maurice (Betty) Huling, William (JoAnn) Ruling, Robert (Jan) Ruling and Earl (Sandi) Ruling; sisters, Ruth Moore, Ethel Toner and Florence Burri; nieces and nephews.

Grinnell, Frederick - Frederick Gerade Grinnell, of Sodus, died March 25, 2001 after a fight with cancer. Interment in Baptist Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Debra; two children, Nicole and Kyle; sisters and brothers, Audrey (Louie) Mastrangelo of Wolcott, Eugene (Barb) Grinnell of FL, Vivian (Pete) Peterson of TN, Betty Lapp of Sodus, Lyle Grinnell Jr. (Linda Graf) of Waterloo, Sandy (Ken) Gaurin of Waterloo, Judy (Doug) Cheetham of Sodus, Sharon Duncan (Donald Barnhart) of Lyons, Lee (Lori) Grinnell of Sodus Center, Arlene Baldwin of SC; mother-in-law, Anna Kelly of Sodus Center and step-mother, Catherine Hoover of Lincolnton, NC. He was predeceased by his parents, Lyle Sr. and Elsie Grinnell and two brothers, Duane and Delbert.

Clark, Elease - Elease Clark, 76, of Old Lyons Road, died March 20, 2001 at ViaHealth of Wayne. Elease was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Ellery, South Carolina to Will and Anna Mae Moore Huggins. She worked in the Newark School System as a health aide and helped her husband operate K.P. Clark's Camp in Lyons. She attended Mt. Zion Church in Lyons and later the Christian Fellowship Church in Rose, where she was an usher for many years. Spring burial in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her son, K.P. Clark Jr., of Rochester; daughter, Tracy Breedlove of Lyons; her mother and stepfather, Anna Mae and Charles Crawley of Geneva; two grandchildren, Cierra Moody and MacArthur Ford Jr.; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, K.P. Clark, Sr. in 1984; and a sister, Betty Crawley.

Colbert, Brian - Brian W. Colbert, 26, of Lyons, died March 23, 2001 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Florida. Brian was born in Clifton Springs on Nov. 18, 1974, to Wayne and Robbin Bullock Colbert. He was a 1993 graduate of Lyons Central School and was involved in the art and music programs. He was the former owner of the Performance Auto Body Shop in Lyons, before moving to Florida last October. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Surviving are his daughter, Zoe, and her mother, Krista VanDuyne, of Lyons; his parents, Wayne and Robbin (Bullock) Colbert of Lyons; two brothers, Jason (Kerry) of New Jersey, and Steven of Lyons; two sisters, Michelle and Katherine of Lyons; maternal grandmother, Betty Goodman of Lyons; paternal grandmother, June Colbert of Lyons; aunts and uncles, William (Bonnie) Colbert, Ken (Marie) Coty, John (Carolyn) Pacello, Richard (Anne) Goodman; several cousins; special friends from Florida - Brenda Winters, Shawn Rodriguez, Pete Minnamon; and friends from Lyons.

Gates, Kenneth - Kenneth C. Gates, 62, of Lyons, died March 24, 2001 after an extended illness. Interment South Lyons Cemetery. Kenneth was born in Valoise on May 21, 1938, son to Frank and Irma Cornell Gates. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol E. Gates; three sons, Ron of Newark, Mike (Marcia) of Texas, Steve (Shelly) of Sodus; daughter, Debra of Lyons; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle of Montour Falls and Don of Pennsylvania; and sister, Sarah of Illinois. He was predeceased by his mother and father, and brothers Frank Jr. and George.

Eaken, Dulce - Dulce Louise Eaken, 37, of Newark, died March 19, 2001 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Dulce was born August 6, 1963 in Long Beach, California to Milton and Shirley Ewing Madison. She worked as the manager at Express Mart in Newark and had worked at Quick Fill in Newark. At one time she trained horses; she enjoyed arts and crafts and playing games on the computer. Dulce is survived by her husband, Micheal Eaken; sons, Andrew, Michael, and Raymond; mother, Shirley Madison of CA; sister, Lisa Madison of CA; and two nephews.

Richardson, Seymour - Seymour Clarence Richardson, 75, of Newark, died March 22, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. He was born to Clarence and Florence Teachout Richardson on Dec. 18, 1925, in Coventry, PA. He worked at the NYS Manor Retirement Home in DeWitt for 25 years. The Army flag was flown at the funeral home in honor of his service to this country. Interment will be in Hannibel Cemetery. He is survived by his sons: Andrew of Fulton, Terry (Joyce) of Fulton, Paul (Alberta) of Newark, Marty of Fair Haven, Melvin (Donna) of Florida, and Matthew (Ashley) Richardson of Alabama; daughters, Lissa (Maurice) McCarthy of Geneva, and Pamela (Larry) Rodebach of Michigan; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Amelia (Walter) Blavelt of Fulton, Mary (Lee) Mitchell of Missouri, and Ida (Ed) Bullard of Syracuse; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Richardson was predeceased in 1997 by his wife, Helen 'Rita' Richardson; predeceased by a son Daniel 'Sweet Corn' in 1982; brothers, Gilford in 1968, and Donald in 1993.

Fisher, Emma - Emma M. Fisher, 85, of East Rochester (formerly of Newark), died March 23, 2001 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. Emma was born in Newark on Oct. 30, 1915, to Peter and Emily Coguyt Maslyn. She was a secretary for Fisher Landscaping Co. in East Rochester in earlier years. She lived on Ryder Road in Fairville and attended St. Michael's Church. She moved to East Rochester in 1955. Spring interment in Fairville Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann (Edward) Pratt of East Rochester; two grandchildren, Marvin Walters and Michelle Ingleston; five great-grandchildren; sister, Lena Maslyn of Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin, in 1970.

Madison, Michael - Michael L. Madison, 47, Palmyra and Oregon, died suddenly on March 28, 2001. Mike volunteered at Sonnenberg Gardens for several years in support of the Haunted Gardens and was a charter volunteer of their wine center. He is survived by his parents, Kay and Larry Madison of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Sarah Madison of Long Beach, WA; longtime companion, Jennifer Pivovar.

Bliek, Edwin - Edwin J. Bliek, 81, of South Sodus, died March 25, 2001 at the Myers ViaHealth. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 80 years, Julia; two sons, John (Audrey) of South Sodus, James of Columbus, OH; daughter, Kathy (Bill) McCann of South Sodus; three grandsons, John (Julie) Bliek, Jason Bliek (Angela Ellsworth), Justin Hollis; and four great-grandchildren.

Herman, Rosie - Rosie Herman, 86, of Lyons, died March 23, 2001 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Rosie met Walter J. Herman in Brisart, Australia during World War II. They were married in August 1943 and came to the U.S. in 1945. With husband Walter, brother and sister-in-law, Dewey and Ethel Herman, they opened the Herman Brothers furniture store in Lyons in December 1945. Rosie was a bookkeeper and active in the store, where she worked past her 70th birthday. Interment East Palmyra Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter J Herman; son, Edward Herman; brother, Michael Isaacs. She is survied by a sister, Minnie; brother, Philip and sister, Jane, and by nieces and nephews in Australia. She is also survived by special nephew Gene, nieces Barbara, Kristian, Melissa, and Amanda; Jan Herman, Bree Gordan, and sister-in-law, Ethel A. Herman.

Justino, Robert - Robert (Bob) J. Justino, 64, of Geneva, died March 22, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born in Lyons and has been a resident of this area all his life. He was a veteran of the Navy during the Korean War and was retired from the Seneca Army Depot after working there for 34 years. He was a member of Winnek Post 396 American Legion, NARF, and St. Stephen's Church. Interment in Oaklawn Cemetery, Oaks Corners. Surviving are his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Dana (Todd) Carter of Geneva and Melissa (Michael) Sayers of Newark; four granddaughters; his mother, Emma George of Geneva; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, Rocco Justino, and his stepfather, Abraham George.

DeLyser, Sarah - Sarah N. DeLyser, 92, formerly of Colton Avenue died March 26, 2001 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. She was born April 25, 1908 in Williamson, to Henry and Nellie DeRidder Kotvis. She and her husband John owned a muck farm in Fairville before owning and operating the DeLyser's Tavern in Macedon. Mrs. DeLyser enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for her family. Spring interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Delores Dingman of Newark; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Shirley DeLyser of Palmyra, Roger and Antoinette DeLyser of Macedon; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Kotvis of Wolcott and James (Verna) Kotvis of Newark; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John DeLyser on June 5, 1985; daughter, Doris in 1932, and her grandson, Richard in 1981.

Lent, Genevieve - Genevieve M. Lent, 87, of Marion, died March 14, 2001. She graduated from Marion High School and was a devoted homemaker, mother and wife to a family that loved her very much. Her husband of 67 years, Arthur Lent, died March 17, 2001. Genevieve is survived by four sons and two daughters: George (Phyllis) Lent of Sodus Point, Valerie (Harry) Christman of Webster, Norman Lent of Rochester, Carol (Roger) Cooney of Williamson, Jim (Julie) Lent of Marion, David (Janet) Lent of Sodus Point; brothers, Ronald Witter of Princeton, NJ, Dick Witter of Aiken, SC, and Robert Witter of Fresno, CA.

Lent, Arthur - Arthur W. Lent, of Marion, died March 17, 2001. He graduated from Palmyra High School and was retired from Garlock Packing Co. Arthur was predeceased (March 14, 2001) by his wife of 67 years, Genevieve M. Lent. He is survived by four sons and two daughters, George Lent (Phyllis) of Sodus Point, Valerie (Harry) Christman of Webster, Norman Lent of Rochester, Carol (Roger) Cooney of Williamson, Jim Lent (Julie) of Marion, David (Janet) Lent of Sodus Point; cousins, Floris Lent of Macedon, Duane Lent of Waterloo.

Morf, Jason Bryan - Jason Bryan Morf, 14, of Palmyra, died March 16, 2001. Interment in Macedon Center Cemetery. Frederick is survived by a son, Eric (Candy) Pirwitz of Phelps; three daughters, Kathryn (Douglas) Rahl of Sodus; Debra Jahn of Woodland Park, CO; Nancy Schmitz of Poland Springs, MA; six grandchildren, two brothers, Gustav and Theodore; three sisters, Lina, Anne, and Magdalene.

Tingue, Frank - Frank Lee Tingue, 84, of Sodus (formerly of Conewango Valley, NY) died March 17, 2001. Interment in the Rutledge Cemetery in Conewango. Mr.Tingue is survived by his wife, Myrtle Foote Tingue of Williamson; a son, William F. Tingue of Sodus; three daughters: Dr. Nancy McBride-Logan of Los Angeles, Joan Miller of Sodus and Christine Hail of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Dubois, Grace - Grace (Everdyke) Dubois, 83, of Newark, died March 18, 2001. She was retired from C.H. Stuart Company, Newark and was a member of the Arcadia and Port Gibson Senior Citizens. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She is urvived by her daughter, Patricia VanDeusen of Coppell, Texas; daughter-in-law, Dolores Dubois of East Williamson; sister, Marian VanLaeken of Newark; brothers, Elmer (Alice) Everdyke, Warren (Genevieve) Everdyke, Ralph (Betty) Everdyke, all of Newark; grandchildren, Gary (Linda) Dubois, Linda (Gary) Miller, Gail (Dan) LeFever and John VanDeusen; nieces and nephews. DeVries, Joanne - Joanne DeVries, 68, of Marion, died March 20, 2001. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, and is survived by daughters, Elizabeth (Don) Raner of Cortland, Fran (John) VanStaalduinen of Marion, Debi (Ron) Keizer of Michigan; and sons, Ken (Kim) DeVries of Michigan, and Garry (Tracy) DeVries of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, three sisters, nieces and nephews.

VanCamp, Marie - Marie VanCamp, 80, of Clifton Springs, died March 10, 2001 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Marie was born October 12, 1912 in Falfurrias, Texas to Benjamin and Marie Boerjan. She lived in Clifton Springs since 1915. Marie worked at Devereaux's Book Store and retired from Everson's Corner Store. Marie was a member of St. Felix Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Felix Church. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Clifton Springs. Marie is survived by three children, Richard (Sandra) VanCamp and Nancy (Harry) Reals, both of Clifton Springs, and Ann VanEenaeme of Newark; two brothers, Edmund Boerjan and Peter Boerjan; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, in 1952; and one grandchild.

Ocque, Majorie - Majorie Mickielson Ocque, 91, of Marion, died March 10, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Ocque. Survived by her sons, Harold (Dorothy) Ocque of Marion and James (Nancy) Ocque of Orlando, FL; 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mann, Ann - Ann F. Mann, 59, of Clyde, died March 10, 2001 in Geneva General Hospital. Ann was born in Potsdam on Jan. 28, 1942, to Ralph K. and Arnealia Campbell Dishaw. She had resided in Clyde for 16 years, moving from Red Creek. She was employed by Wal-Mart in Newark. Interment in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. She is survived by one daughter, Karen (Michael) Bush of Newark; two sons, Kenneth Parmeter and Kevin (Dawn) Parmeter, both of Red Creek; her mother, Arnealia Campbell Dishaw of Syracuse; her fiance, Richard Mumford of Clyde; eight grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Clover) Dishaw of Oneida. She was predeceased by her father, Ralph K. Dishaw, who died in 1960.

Young, Mary - Mary A. Young, 72, of Walworth, died March 13, 2001. She is survived by her husband Ralph A. Young; son John Young of Port Huron, MI; daughters, Mary Kiepacki (King) of Clearwater, FL, Louise Zambito of Marion, Christine S. Riker of Newark; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond, Robert (Joe), James, Edward Manard; sister Anne McMurray.

Joslyn, Edward - Edward L. 'Rusty' Joslyn, 47, of Newark, died February 28, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mr. Joslyn was born Jan. 4, 1954 in Auburn, the son of Glenn and Mary Tylenda Joslyn. He was a 1973 graduate of Newark High School. He had worked for the Round Towner/Sheraton Inn for several years. Edward completed his degree from Finger Lakes Community College in 1993. As a state-credentialed alcoholism-counselor, he had worked for the FLACRA Crisis Center in Clifton Springs. He also had worked as a nurse's aide at the DeMay Living Center. Edward was a volunteer for the Newark Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance (NAVA) as an advanced life support technician, for the Newark Fire Dept., and Lyons Fire Dept. He was also a member of St. Michael's Church, where he had taught religious education to Catholic children. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Susan Torbitt Joslyn; son, Jason; daughters, Kimberly and Katerina; and two grandchildren, Cashime and Daekwon. He was predeceased by his parents. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Libbert, Robert W. - Robert W. Libbert, 83, died February 11, 2001 in Harlingen, Texas of natural causes. Bob was born July 1, 1917 in Newark, the son of Peter & Jennie Libbert. He graduated from Newark High School. He was a member of the Newark Masonic Lodge #83 F & A.M. and the Newark American Legion Post. He made his home in Blue Island, IL and Conrad, IA before residing in Harlingen, TX. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. Survivors include cousins and his long time friend and companion, Velda Shaw.

Turazzo, Anthony - Anthony 'Tony' David Turazzo, 50, of Port Gibson, died March 2, 2001 at Via Health of Newark. Tony was born the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Patten Turrazo on March 16, 1950 in Batavia. He worked for the Department of Transportation in Pittsford. Tony enjoyed working with wood, building and making many things. He also enjoyed collecting eagles as a second hobby. Tony was a past fire chief for the town of Bethany, NY. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Lillian Bump Turazzo; his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Mary Lou Turazzo of Port Gibson; two grandchildren, Joseph Jr., and Krystin; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Turazzo of Phelps; brother, Pat Turazzo of Phelps; several nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his brother, Angelo Turazzo. Interment in Port Gibson Cemetery.

Cook, Mabel - Mabel H. Cook, 83, of Newark, died March 3, 2001 at ViaHealth Newark. Mrs. Cook was born Feb. 11, 1918 in Newark to Abe and Minnie Koveringen Havert. Mabel worked at the Newark Developmental Center for over 20 years. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George; son, Bruce of Rochester; sisters, Marian (Benjamin) Conley of Oaks Corners, Cornelia DeLue and Dorothy (Edward) Kaiser of Newark; brothers, Phillip (Ruth) Havert of Sodus and Henry (Veronica) Havert of South Carolina; nieces and nephews. Mabel was predeceased by her son, William A., in 1994. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

McCray, C. Richard - C. Richard McCray, 82, of Palmyra/Newark, died March 2, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in Canandaigua. Mr. McCray was born May 4, 1918, in Bogota, NJ, to Clarence and Edith LaFevre McCray. He was a mechanical engineer for Garlock Co. of Palmyra for over 30 years. He also worked for the Web Seal Co. in Rochester as an engineer. He served in the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Palmyra VFW, the Masonic Lodge of Palmyra, the Western Presbyterian Church, where he was a 50-year member and a life member of the Red Jacket Power Squadron, where he was a past commander. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacomina Cuvelier McCray; brother, Theodore of Beaver Dam; sisters Frances Calucki of Sarasota, FL, and Dorothea Henry of Little York; nieces and nephews. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Sedore, Barbara - Barbara A. Sedore, 56, of Sodus, died March 1, 2001. She is survived by five children: Lori (Tim) Lindstrom of Newark; Lonnie (Tammy) of North Rose; Les and Leon, both of Sodus; Lenny (Angie) of Marion; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers: Dallas (Ellama) Luther of Sodus, Martin (Ilona) Luther of Wolcott, Rick (Sherry) Luther of Port Gibson, John (Karla) Luther of Hamilton, Ronnie Luther of Sodus; four sisters: Millie (Jim) Turner of North Rose, Shirley (Chuck) Marland of Morrisville, Sharon (Don) Smith of Phelps, Annie (Joe) Woodcock of Earlville; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, in 2000. Spring interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Bliek, Elwin - Elwin (Al) Bliek, 68, Marion, died March 3, 2001. Elwin was the president of Peter Bliek & Sons Inc. where he was a grower and packer of potatoes and onions. He is survived by his wife, Marian (DeWind) Bliek; his son, Daniel (Amy) Bliek of Columbia, SC.; and his daughter, Dianne (Timothy) Provo of Ontario; two grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Mary) Bliek of Marion and Laverne (Toni) Bliek of Marion; two sisters, Suzanna Stresing of Ohio and Johanna (Douglas) Williams of Marion; three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews and Jim Putney. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Susie Bliek.

Fisher, Robert - Robert M. Fisher, 54, of Newark, died March 5, 2001. Mr. Fisher was born July 1, 1940 in Newark, to Maynard and Minna Peck Fisher. A 1965 gradtuate of Newark High School, Bob became an engineer while working for Xerox in Webster. For six years, he served in the US Army Reserves. He had been a member of the Newark Fire Department. Robert is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jean L. Johnson Fisher; son, Robert M. III (Sarah); granddaughter Amanda; his mother, Minna; sister, Linda F. (Donald) Wiltsie, all of Newark; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Maynard Fisher. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Smith, Robbie Lee - Robbie Lee Smith, 63, of Lyons, died March 5, 2001 at ViaHealth of Newark, after a long illness. Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 10, 1937 to Melvin and Mary Haynes Dunn in Alamo, TN. She was employed locally by J.L. Hammett in Lyons. Surviving are her husband, Jack W. Smith of Lyons; daughter, Jacqueline Denice (Roger) Granatiero of Fair Haven; son, Bradley J. (Karen Schroo) Smith of Lyons; two grandchildren; three brothers and sister: Nelson (Laverne) Dunn of TN; Howard Dunn of TN; Benny (Jeanette) Dunn of AL; Mary Nell (Willie B.) Warren of TN; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1987 by her son, Daryl Lee Smith. Spring interment in South Lyons Cemetery.

Rockwell, Celia - Celia J. Rockwell, 69, of Lyons, died March 5, 2001. Celia was born March 14, 1932, in Lyons, a daughter to Albert and Hattie Thoms Facer. She was a 50-year member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, a 35-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was retired from the Wayne County Nursing Home as account clerk after 28 years of service. She is survived by her two daughters, Diana (Gary) Prutzman of Lyons; Mary (Ray) Hildreth of Lyons; grandson, Daniel Prutzman of Montana; and nephew, Thomas Facer (Mary Ann) of Newark. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Facer; and a nephew, Bruce Facer. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery.

Evans, Evelyn - Evelyn Ruth Allen Evans, 86, Newark, died February 23, 2001 at Rochester General Hospital. Evelyn was born March 25, 1914 in Newark, to Frederick and Emma Hollenbeck Allen. She graduated from Newark High School in 1932. At age 14, she started working as an operator at Bell Telephone. She retired in 1974 after 47 years of service as Chief Night Operator. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Newark and Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved to volunteer and did so at the Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County and at Lincoln School as a teacher's aide in the kindergarten and first grade classes. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughters, Dr. Jan M. Evans of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and Ruth E. Beck of North Rose; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Swartz, Esther Frantz and Betty Ahrans; sister-in-law, Lida Allen; nieces and nephews, and special friends Raymond Welker, Donna Smith and Dawn French. Mrs. Evans was predeceased by her husband, former Newark Fire Chief William J. Evans, on Jan. 17, 1987; predeceased by brothers Marian and Robert Allen.

Syron, William - William D. 'Dud' Syron, 89, of Clyde, died February 24, 2001 following an extended illness. Mr. Syron was born September 12, 1911 in the Town of Tyre, to Clarence and Nettie Burgdorf Syron. He was a lifetime resident of Clyde, and a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church. In 1933 he married Thelma Juffs, and they recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Mr. Syron was a retired livestock dealer and a member of the Moose Lodge #1420 in Palmyra. He was a member of the Clyde Fire Department's Eveready Hose Company, and had held all the chairs in the Clyde Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a member of the Cattle Dealers Association. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Clyde. Surviving are his wife, Thelma Syron of Clyde; son, Maurice (Audrey) Syron of Clyde; grandchildren, Sheila (Robert) Hemenway of Newark, Nila (Louis) Ellwanger of Clyde, Mark (Cheryl) Syron of Clyde, Craig (Connie) Syron of Newark; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by one daughter, Betty Jean DeLeo, and three sisters, Mildred Weller, Alice Nelson and Lena Vanderbrook.

Reyes, Edwardo - Edwardo Reyes 64, of Newark, died February 24, 2001 at the DeMay Living Center. Mr. Reyes was born Oct. 17, 1936 in Puerto Rico. He was a resident of the Newark and Lyons area for more than 35 years. He had worked in Seneca Foods and at several other canning factories. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by his friends in Newark and Lyons, and his family in Puerto Rico.

Amrose, Katherine - Katherine M. Amrose, 83, of Lyons, died February 22, 2001 at DeMay Living Center. Katherine was born March 16, 1917, in Newark and helped her husband, Michael, operate Amrose Super Market in Lyons for many years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church in Lyons and the Altar & Rosary Society of St. Michael's Church in Newark. She was an avid doll collector and loved cooking and baking. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Edward) Cimineri of Lyons and Susan (James) Wood of Baltimore; three sons, Eugene (Theresa) and James (Sandy), both of Lyons, and Michael (Marlene) of Buffalo; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Critelli of Newark and Michael Critelli of Wisconsin; special friend, Vern Smith of Newark; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 1974; and by brothers Nicholas, Tony, Frank and Joseph Critelli.

Goellner, Catherine - Catherine Esca Young Goellner, 58, of Port Gibson, died February 21, 2001 following a long illness. She had worked at Mobil Chemical Co. in Macedon and at Bushnell's Basin. She had done genealogy of her family, she loved local history and enjoyed craft projects, especially painting. Spring interment in Marion Cemetery. She is survived be her husband, Henry, of Port Gibson; parents, Herman and Esca Young of Palmyra; sisters, Dorothy (Arnold) Steinruck, Gladys (Robert) Henning of Palmyra; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Irene VanGee, and brothers, Donald, Howard and infant Charles.

Wunder, Ellen - Ellen Wunder, 72, of Wilson St., Newark, died February 27, 2001. Mrs. Wunder was born December 9, 1928 in Lyons, the daughter of Erwin and Harriett (Newman) Edwards. A legal secretary for many years, Ellen had worked with Harold Stiles and the Barrett Law Firm, retiring in April 1994. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Arthur; sons, Thomas (Anne) of Penn Yan and Stephen (Eileen) of Montezuma; daughter, Nancy Wunder and adopted daughter Donna Lynn Crosley, both of Rochester; five grandchildren; sister, Shirley Lohman of Columbus, OH; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Gilbert Edwards, Sr. in 1979.

Facer, Bruce - Bruce C. Facer, 37, died February 26, 2001 as the result of a skiing accident. Bruce was born April 27, 1963 in Lyons, the son of Richard and Edna Gruschow Facer. He was a graduate of Lyons High School and Alfred University. He was employed as a machinist with P.B. Machine of Palmyra. Bruce and Lori Cook Facer were married on July 25, 1992 in Clifton Springs. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Lyons, the Palmyra Moose Lodge 1420, where he was a junior past governor, and had served as the liaison to Cub Scout Pack 96. He was an avid bowler and hunter, and belonged to the state Taxidermist Association. Bruce volunteered as a chaperone for the Palmyra-Macedon High School Ski Club. Spring interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Lori; his children, Meghan and Carl Facer and Jason VanNorman; mother and stepfather, Edna and Myron Gansz of Lyons; and brother, Tom (Mary Ann) Facer of Newark; niece, Martha Facer; nephew, Edward Facer; and father-in-law, Gerald Cook of Palmyra. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Facer, in 1987; and his mother-in-law, Judith Cook, in 1992.

Pratt, Donna - Donna L. Pratt, 47, of Vienna St., Newark, died Thursday, February 15, 2001 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born to Edward B. and Maude (Rowe) Pratt on October 21, 1953 in Auburn, New York. She worked at Via Health of Wayne-Newark Campus for 21 years as a secretary in OB department. She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. Donna is survived by her mother, Maude Pratt of Newark; cousins, Wanda Interlichia of Washington, Naomi Pratt, Peter Pratt both of Hawaii, Edith Hill of Rochester and Betty Sprague of Auburn; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Pat Parson of Lyons, Linda and Joe Hixson of Newark, and Julie Santiago of Newark. Donna was predeceased by her father, Edward Pratt in 1977 and her brother, Bernard Pratt in 1992.

Matteson, Thelma - Thelma J. Matteson, 77, of Newark, died February 16, 2001. Thelma was born in Newark on April 14, 1923, the daughter of Carl and Verna Woodard Weinman. She retired from Hallagan Manufacturing of Newark with more than 30 years service. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 286, VFW Auxiliary 2883 and the Palmyra Moose Club. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Philips of Newark; one stepson, Steve Matteson of Phelps; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Lionel (Snapper), on May 21, 1994.

Merriam, Howard E. - Capt. Howard E. Merriam of Peoria, Arizona, died February 8, 2001. He was born September 20, 1918 in Newark to Albert and Bessie Merriam. Following graduation from Newark High School, he attended State Teachers College in Albany and received a Bachelor of Science Degree. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941, served aboard a destroyer, and saw active duty in WWII for five years. He married Wanda Howland in 1952 and moved to Anaheim, CA. He and was in the Naval Reserves and an accountant and auditor in Anaheim, retiring in 1978. He was also an amateur radio operator for many years. Services were held in California. He is survived by his wife, Caroline DeSmith Merriam; daughter, Marcia Camp of Twenty-nine Palms, CA and two granddaughters. He was predeceased by his wife, Wanda, and brothers, Donald, Rhea and Paul.

Leenhouts, Vernard - Vernard Leenhouts, 83, of Marion, died February 18, 2001. Vernard was a member of the Marion Fire Department and a retired farmer and contractor. Vernard is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Joan (Stewart) Bornstein of Tappan; three grandchildren; sister, Wilma Adams of Florida; and sister-in-law, Blanche Leenhouts of Newark. He was predeceased by a son, James, in 1968.

VanDusen, Myron - Myron (Red) VanDusen, 76, of Marion, died February 18, 2001. Red was a WWII Marine Corps veteran and a retired truck driver of Red Star Express. He is survived by his wife, Alberta; three daughters, Jane (Jerry) Adams of Rochester, Susan (Daniel) Roland of Marion, Nancy (Victor) Salvato of Rochester; two sons, John (Judy) of Marion and Joe (Lucia) of Gates; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Gladys) of Lincoln and John (Barbara) of Tennessee. Red was predeceased by two sons, Peter and Michael.

Baker, Karol - Karol A. Baker, 60, of Marion, died February 19, 2001 after a long illness. Karol is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Kim (Steve) Williams of Marion; son, Craig (Cheryl) of Marion; five grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Geldof of Marion and Dorene (Roger) VanDemortel of Newark; nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and a sister, Nancy Rice.

Porter, Evelyn - Evelyn S. Porter, 87, of Fairville, died Feb. 9, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Waterloo. Evelyn was born July 25, 1913, in Montela, NY, one of ten children of Archie and Elva Curry Smith. She moved to the Newark area in 1932 with her husband, Burnett G. Porter. 'Ma Porter' had owned and operated Porter's General Store in Fairville since 1954; the store became the center of activity for the little, close-knit community. Originally a member of the Fairville Methodist Church, Mrs. Porter transferred to the Newark First United Methodist Church when the Fairville church closed. Mrs. Porter was a life member of the Amitie chapter 473 Order of the Easter Star, and a charter member of the Fairville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. She is survived by her three children, Mrs. Ronald (Jane) Smith of Waterloo, Janette P. Dodge of Tampa, FL, and Burnett (Marilyn) Porter Jr. of Port Orange, FL; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters and her husband, who died October 1986.

Weimer, Elizabeth - Elizabeth P. Weimer, 85, of Cartersville, GA died February 5, 2001. She was born March 15, 1915 in Poughkeepsie, New York and was a long-time resident of Newark. Survivors include her sons, Alan Weimer of Cartersville, GA, Thomas Weimer of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Richard Weimer of Atlantic Beach, FL; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Weimer and sister, Emily Habicht.

Roeland, Lillian - Lillian D. Roeland, 82, of Newark, died February 9, 2001 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Roeland was born October 13, 1918 in Newark to James and Mabel DePauw Doyle. She worked for the Newark Developmental Center as an aide, and had also worked at Canandaigua Express and Gotzman & Newman as a clerk. She was a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark. Interment Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Roeland is survived by her son, Richard Roeland of Newark; grandson, Todd Roeland; brother, Richard Doyle of Florida; sister, Evelyn (Donald) Cook of Newark; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Roeland, on September 10, 1965 and their son, Thomas, on April 10, 1995.

Tillotson, Gladys - Gladys J. Tillotson, 78, of Lyons, died Feb. 9, 2001. Gladys was born July 23, 1922 in Rochester, the daughter of Elmer and Caroline Potts Jensen. She retired from Garlock Co. in Palmyra with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Lyons Retired Senior Citizens, and an avid doll collector and painter. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Celso of Walworth; stepdaughter, Betty Uerkvitz of Waterloo; two sons, James (Eileen) Clements of Clifton Springs and Terry (Janet) Clements of Lyons; two sisters, Esther Tennity of Castile and Patricia (Harold) DeWitt of Macedon; two brothers, Chris (Louise) Jensen of Fairport and Eric Jensen of Bangor, CA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; dear friends, Fred and Linda Wood and Steve and Mary Mastracy. She was predeceased by her first husband, Worden Clements in 1980, and William Tillotson, who died in February 2000.

Bump, Darlene - Darlene Anne Bump, 50, of Vienna Rd., Newark, died February 12, 2001 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Darlene was born August 17, 1950 to Merton and Celica Cady, in Sodus. She worked at Westplex Industries in Manchester. Darlene was a member of the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church and Sharing & Caring at Clifton Springs Hospital. Interment in the Palmyra Cemetery. Darlene is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gordon Bump; sons, Tim Janto of Clifton Springs, Bryan Bump of Canandaigua and Alan Bump of Clifton Springs; daughter Melissa Janto of Newark; granddaughter, Megan Manson; father, Merton Cady; mother-in-law, Ida Bump; several brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Linda Mitchell. Darlene was predeceased by her mother, Celia Cady, in 2000 and father-in-law, Robert Bump, in 1995.

DeWispelaere, Joan - Joan DeWispelaere, 93, a resident of the Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus, died February 10, 2001 at the ViaHealth in Newark. Interment Huron Evergreen Cemetery. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Marlene DeWispelaere of Wolcott; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cynthia Steurrys of Newark, Jane Beerens of Bloomfield, Elizabeth Leszinsky of Rochester; brother, Abram (Addie) VanGee of CA; sisters-in-law, Mabel VanGee, Nillie DeWispelaere, Josie DeWispelaere, Joanne Johnson; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1995 by her husband, John, and by her son, John J., in 1999; also sisters, Mary Martin, Sue Fisher, Lavina DeRue; brothers, Isaac and John VanGee.

Shulla, Mildred Tellier - Mildred Shulla, 78, of Newark, died February 13, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Edward (Sharon) Tellier and Dennis (Sandra) Tellier of Newark; five grandchildren, Bonnie Jackson, Patrick, Carl, Richard and Jason Tellier; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Jackson, Joshua, Ryan, Tessa, and Jason Tellier; her sister, June Fisher of Fairville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1990 and a brother, Vernon Downey.

Fabrizi, Julia - Julia A. Fabrizi, 85, of Lyons, died Feb. 13, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Julia was born May 16, 1915 in Lyons, to Carmen and Anna Petrus. She had worked at Sarah Coventry in her earlier years and was a waitress at the Bridge Tavern in Lyons for 38 years. She also attended St. Michael's Church. Interment at South Lyons Cemetery in the spring. She is survived by her son, Thomas of Newark; two brothers, Thomas Petrus of Florida and Patrick Petrus of the Wayne County Nursing Home; five grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Fabrizi, Lloyd and Tony Snyder and Shawn Gonzalez; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Fabrizi in 1988.

Venoski, Susie - Susie Venoski, 94 of Newark, died Feb. 14, 2001 at the Living Center South in Geneva. Susie was born April 15, 1906 in Pittsburgh, PA to Michael and Mary Maga. In 1989, she moved from the New York City area to Newark and became a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Interment will be in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marianna Venoski of Newark; four grandchildren: Anne Marie (Scott) Hanson of Oviedo, FL, Susanne (Warren) Prestwich, M.D. and John (Lois) Venoski III, both of Newark, and Mary Beth (Douglas) Thompson of Chicago; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steven Maga of Beaver Falls, PA and Andrew Mega of Fairport Harbor; a sister, Pauline Maga of Beaver Falls; nieces and nephews. Bohrer, Dorothy - Dorothy I. Bohrer, 70 of Clyde, died Feb. 1, 2001. Dorothy was born June 12, 1930 in Rose, to Morris and Iva Dunn Porter. She retired in 1996 from Parker-Hannifin in Lyons, with 30 years of service. She was a volunteer for Clyde Nutrition Center and member of the Clyde United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Rose Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Randy Bohrer of Newark; daughter, Fay Marriott of Clyde; daughter-in-law, Sandra Bohrer of Lyons; sister, Stella 'Midge' (George) Cushman of Clyde; four grandchildren; a niece, great-niece and great-nephew; many special friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin, in December 1966; her son, Thomas, in June 1999; and her three brothers Fred, Raymond and Leon Porter.

Ricciotti, Mary - Mary E. (LeGrett) Ricciotti, 98, of Canandaigua, died January 31, 2001 at the Ontario County Health Facility. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Mary is survived by son, Frank (Sandra) Ricciotti of Canandaigua; seven daughters, Genny (Tony) Minute of Canandaigua, Frances Musolino of Canandaigua; Yolanda (Bob) Sears of Elmira Heights, Josephine Welsh of Newark, Elizabeth (Larry) Holland of Canandaigua, Marge (Ralph) Everett of Cananadaigua; 37 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Benemino of Geneva; nieces and nephews. Caster, Katherine Jane - Katherine Jane Caster, 76, of South Butler, died unexpectedly on February 5, 2001 in Rochester General Hospital. Katherine was born May 2, 1924 in South Butler to Forrest and Florence Cooney Capron. She and her husband Bernard, who predeceased her, were married for 54 years. She assisted him in his artistic endeavors through the years. She expressed her own creativity in many ways, including creating imaginative soft sculptures and writing expressive letters that were welcomed and appreciated by friends and relatives. She was an avid reader all her life and enjoyed gardening and listening to classical music. She was known for her generous unselfish nature and was always willing to offer compassion and assistance to people in need. She was a long-time member of the South Butler United Methodist Church and the Wayne County Council for the Arts. Her nurturing spirit will live on in the memories of all the lives she touched. Interment will be in the Butler-Savannah Cemetery. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Caster and her parents Forrest and Florence Capron. She is survived by three children: Carol (Karl) Schantz of Newark, Cyril (Cheryl) Caster of Landenberg, PA, and Allan Caster of Savannah; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha (Robert) Kelly of South Butler, and Shirley Wesley of Savannah; brothers, Forrest Capron of Waterloo and Russell Capron of Savannah; nieces and nephews.

Neal, Harold - Harold T. Neal, 83 of Peck's Lake, Gloversville, died February 5, 2001. He was born November 29, 1917 in Elmira, the son of Grace Bremer and Thomas Neal. Following graduation from Newark High School, Neal received his Bachelor of Science degree (1940) in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University College of Forestry; he received his Master's degree in Business from the University of Chicago in 1952. He married Ester Peck of Peck's Lake in September 1940, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In 1943, he enlisted in the Army Corps and was sent to Meteorology School in Grand Rapids, MI, and was later commissioned at Chanute Field, IL as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. In 1944 he was sent to Karachi, India as Chief Weather Planner for the 308th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron and served in the China Burma India Theatre. At the end of WWII he returned to civilian life and joined Lederle Labs in Stamford, CT for a brief period before he re-joined the Air Force in 1947. He completed his Air Force active duty with Rome Air Development Center at Griffiss AFB in 1956 as a Colonel. Mr. Neal was active in the community, serving the Board of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Gloversville; Youth Bureau; Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown; Eccentric Club Board and Past-President of Peck's Lake Association. He was 32nd degree Mason and member for over 50 years. He was Assistant Professor of Business Management at Ithaca College and retired in 1982. Spring interment is planned at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. He is survived by his wife Esther; three children: Nancy of Palo Alto, CA, Dr. Nelson D. Neal of FL, and T. Wellington Neal of Baldwinsville.

Becker, Barbara - Barbara 'Polly' VanDevelde Becker of Williamson, died February 6, 2001 at the Hildebrant Center for Palliative Care at Genesee Hospital. Spring interment Sodus Rural Cemetery. Polly is survived by her husband, Robert J.; daughter, Kathleen A. (Samuel) Alessi of Williamson; son, Patrick J. of Sodus Point; and two granddaughters; sister, Susan Burkhalter of NJ; brothers, Philip (Nina) VandeVelde of MI and Robert (Mae) VanDevelde of Williamson; sister-in-law, Martha Clement of Sodus; brother-in-law, Richard Gorman of Williamson; dear friend of 45 years, Dwen Giljam of Sodus; nieces, nephews and friends. Henne, Helen - Helen E. Henne, 94, formerly of Newark, died January 19, 2001. Helen was born in Ontario, Canada on May 1, 1906. She had been a resident of Webster. She was predeceased by husbands, John C. Fisher and Dr. Frank R. Henne. She is survived by her children, Dr. John C. (Penny) Fischer, Robert C. (Norma) Fischer, Jeanne M. (Richard) Burke; two step-children; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and friends.

Cooney, Ann - Ann T. (Transue) Cooney, 71, of Williamson, died January 24, 2001. Ann was retired from Key Bank, Williamson; was a member of the Twig of Newark-Wayne Hospital, Williamson Senior Citizens, and Sodus Go-Getters. Interment in Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville. She is survived by sons, Daniel (Sharon) Cooney of Webster, Richard (Kim) Cooney of Webster; daughter, Wendy Cooney (Leo Blauvelt) of Williamson; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Cooney in 1979.

Bailey, Albert - Albert F. Bailey, 73, of Tellier Road, Newark, died January 28, 2001 at ViaHealth of Newark. He was born January 22, 1928 to Frank and Magdalene Bailey, in Newark. Albert worked for several lumber yards in the Newark area and was owner/operator of the Western Auto store in downtown Newark. He did his military service in the U.S. Army. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Irene Lester Bailey; sons, Mark and Paul Bailey, and daughter Linda Bailey, all of Newark; sisters, Irene (Frank) Cimineri of Clyde, Carmie (Joe) Picchi of Geneva and Anna (Karl) Chandler of Newark; brother, John (Margaret) Bailey of Newark; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary in 2000, Lucy in 1986, and brother Tony in 1987.

Bowden, Catherine - Catherine A. Bowden, 79 of Rose, died January 28, 2001 at Newark ViaHealth. Catherine was born April 21, 1921 in Rose, to Albert and Catherine DeDee Knapp. She was a life-long resident of Rose. Interment will be in Rose Cemetery. Surviving are her son, Randy (Julie) Bowden of Newark; beloved sister, Eva Sutter of Rose; nephews, Watson (Ann) Mertz of Ontario Center, Clark (Joan) Knapp of Holley, Clyde (Lenore) Knapp of Prattsburg, Donald (June) Knapp of Holley, Edwin (Lillian) Knapp of Albion; nieces, Dorothy Knapp of Holley and Patricia Brooks of Warsaw. McKean, Evelyn - Evelyn Hummel McKean, 84, of Palmyra, died January 26, 2001. Interment in Prattsville. She is survived by her son, Donald (Joyce) McKean; grandchildren, nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter B. McKean, in 1969.

Groves, William - William 'Bill' J. Groves, 69, of Newark died January 29, 2001 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. Bill was born in Elmira on November 24, 1931 to William and Bernice Freeman Groves. He worked for Wayne ARC for many years. Interment at Hicks Cemetery in Lockwood, NY. Bill is survived by his brother, Gerry (Helen) Groves of Florida; sisters, Betsy Harrington of Hicks, and Shirley (Ivan) Parks of Chemung; nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold in 1982, and Larry in 2000.

Adriaansen, Josephine - Josephine (Jo) Adriaansen, 92, of Marion, died January 28, 2001. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church and was past president of the Marion Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore, and her sister, Tuena Fisher. Theodore and Jo were Marion farmers. She is survived by three brothers, Earl (Maggie) Huisman, Edward (Doris) Krocke and Peter (Jean) Krocke; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hendricks; nieces and nephews.

Colacino, Irene - Irene V. Colacino, 97, of South Main St., Newark, died January 31, 2001. Mrs. Colacino was born the daughter of Peter and Anne Kingley Vincent on December 13, 1903 in Montreal, Canada. She worked for Retail Manufacturer as an interpreter and as a model before coming to Newark. Mrs. Colacino was a member of St. Michael Church and the Rosary Society. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Colacino is survived by her sons, A. Thomas and Eugene (Kenna) Colacino; daughter, Margaret Colacino, all of Newark; grandchildren, Christian, Patrick and Chad; sisters, Marguerite Duffy of VT, and Thelma Lawton of MA; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Colacino, in 1973.

Rolland, Charles - Charles Richard Rolland, 96 of Port Gibson, died January 30, 2001 at Geneva Living Center. Charles was a retired farmer and former owner of Farnsworth and Rolland Heating Business. He was a charter member of the Port Gibson Fire Dept., a chapter member of Ontario County Extension Service, first president of Ontario County Farm Bureau, former member and past president of Clifton Springs Rotary Club. He was a member of the Clifton Springs School Board for over 36 years; also active in many community and organizations. Charles is surivied by his wife of 68 years, Alice (Trautman); three sons, Roy (Kay) of Geneva, William (Mary Ann) of Youngstown and Thomas (Barbara) of Montpelier, VT; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Williamson of Palmyra and Mary Lucille Stevely of Warren, OR.

Zappia, Jennie - Jennie ('Jaye,' 'Nana') Zappia, 80, formerly of Newark, died January 19, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Zappia was born August 14, 1920 in Geneva, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Venuti Saglimbeni. For 25 years, Jaye was the Senior Account Executive at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Newark and St. Matthew's in Lake Worth, FL. She moved to Green Acres, Florida after the death of her husband, Joseph, in 1992. She enjoyed playing cards and golfing. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Mrs. Zappia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Robert DeJohn of Newark; two grandchildren, Scott (Camille) and Robert Jr.; one great-grandson, Jake Thomas DeJohn; four sisters, Angie (Raymond) Liberatore of Lake Worth, FL, Tina (Nicholas) Cocola, Louise DeVoli of Geneva, and Mary (Ernest) Lisi of Rochester; brother, Louis (Eleanor) Saglimbeni of Geneva; several nieces and nephews.

Humphries, Sgt. Joshua - Sgt. Joshua L. Humphries, 24, of Newark, died suddenly on January 21, 2001. Joshua was the son of Alvis and Barbara Finn Humphries, born March 27, 1976 in Newark. He graduated from Newark High School in 1994 and was a member of the wrestling team. He loved wrestling, hunting and fishing and had a love and respect for the outdoors. Joshua joined the United States Army after high school. He earned the rank of Sergeant, working in communications. Interment in East Newark Cementery. Pickering, Florence - Florence L. Pickering, 89, of East Palmyra, died January 20, 2001 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. She was born September 4, 1911 in Canandaigua, to John and Carrie Molenar Orbaker. She was married to Kenneth Pickering on July 7, 1935 in Palmyra. Florence was a longtime resident of East Palmyra and was active in the Senior Citizens of Newark and Palmyra, as well as the East Palmyra Home Bureau. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. She was survived by her son, Gordon (Sharon) Pickering of Newark; daughters, Ruth (John) DeBrock of Shortsville and Linda (Charles) Trimble of Phelps; brother, Glenn Orbaker of Newark; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth in 1982.

Lane, Mary - Mary M. (Rose) Lane, 91, of Sodus, died January 21, 2001 in Newark Manor Nursing Home. She was a retired supervisor from the Newark State School and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Newark. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. She is survived by her devoted sister, Marguerite Rose of Palmyra; several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl C. 'Ted' Lane in 1986.

Adriaansen, Joan - Joan T. Adriaansen, of Marion, died January 21, 2001. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church and a charter member of the Marion Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Interment in the Marion Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester, by a daughter, Nancy Rice, and grandson, Timothy Everdyke. She is survived by three daughters, Elaine Geldof of Marion, Carol (John) Baker of Marion, and Doreen (Roger) Van Demortel of Newark; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Casselman, Howard - Howard W. Casselman, 74, of Mill St., Newark died January 23, 2001 at the Living Center North in Geneva. He was born October 27, 1926 in Potsdam, the son of Frank L. and Rose Sova Casselman. Howard was an attendant at the Newark Developmental Center for over 24 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Newark Police Benevolent Association. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Kenneth H., William, Robert and sister, Virginia Clemens. Shirtz, Benson - Benson T. Shirtz, 86, of Newark, died January 10, 2001 in Manchester, New Hampshire. Benson was born Aug. 25, 1914 in Red Creek. He received his degree from Syracuse University, where he was a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity and the Corpse and Coffin Honorary Society. In 1938, Mr. Shirtz joined the sales department of the Comstock Foods Corp. He served in the armed forces as a first lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps from 1943 to 1946. He then returned to Comstock, becoming a director and secretary of the corporation, and retired as sales manager in 1977. Subsequently, he joined Seneca Foods, retiring at the end of 1980. Mr. Shirtz resided most of his adult life in Newark and moved to Hillcrest Terrace in Manchester, NH in 1997. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Shirtz of Manchester, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased in 1997 by his wife, Edna Obert; and his daughter, Barbara Hill-Ludlum, in 1999.

DeBlaere, Julian - Julian DeBlaere, 81, of Edgett Street, Newark, died January 11, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. He was born to Frank and Leoni DeBlaere on May 15, 1919 in Marion. He was a painter at the Newark Developmental Center for many years. Julian was a member of St. Michael Church in Newark, the VFW Post #2883 in Newark and the Newark Volunteer Fire Dept., Deluge Hose Company. He served in the Army from 1940-45. Iinterment in Newark Cemetery. Mr. DeBlaere is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth 'Betty' DeBlaere; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Richard Higley of Clifton Springs and Vicki and Douglas Featherly of Newark; grandsons, Brent Higley of Florida and Paul (Teresa) Featherly of Texas; granddaughter, Tracy Featherly of Brockport; sisters, Ady Graybill of Newark and Mina Forshay of Florida; nieces and nephews.

Robinson, Dorothy - Dorothy (Wallace) Robinson, 76, died January 7, 2001, at her home in Phoenixville, PA. Mrs. Robinson was born June 29, 1924 in East Palmyra, to Winfield and Edna Wicks Wallace. She graduated from Newark High School in 1941. She was the first Director of Volunteers at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, retiring in 1978; and she was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Dorothy was a member of the United Third Methodist Church in Sodus; she and her husband 'Pete' were Western square dancers with the Genesee Dancers. After Pete's death in 1993, Dottie moved to Phoenixville, where she became a member of the First United Methodist Church. An avid gardener and crafter, she worked with the Exceptionals service, and maintained the flower beds at her church and apartment complex. As a member of the Phoenixville Senior Center, Dottie was known for her participation in area craft shows. A graveside service will take place at East Palmyra Cemetery in April. She is survived by her two daughters, Becky Robinson of Whately, MA and Mindy R. Paquette-Murphy of Phoenixville; two grandsons; three sisters, Imogene DeCann of Newark, Mary Burgess of Wolcott, and Thelma Goodall of Port Gibson; brother, Leonard Wallace of Glen Oaks, NY; nieces and nephews. She was predeased by her husband, Howard 'Pete' Robinson, and five siblings.

Bailey, Jennie - Jennie Bailey, 87, of West Sherman Ave., Newark, died January 13, 2001. Jennie was born July 6, 1913 in East Williamson, to John and Dinah VanHanegan Vanderlyke. She was a member of the Newark Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by her son, Ronald of Rochester; two daughters, Sandra Leonard and Donna Bailey, both of Newark; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anne Downey of Newark and Sue Prutzman of Clifton Springs; daughter-in-law, Judy Tasker of Baldwinsville; nieces and nephews. She was predeased by her husband Charles in 1995 and brother, Herbert J. Vanderlyke in 1996.

Fisher, Chet - Chester J. Fisher, 80, of Route 88 North, Fairville, died January 13, 2001 at home. Chester was born July 31, 1920 in Newark, to Edward and Catherine Tellier Fisher. He was a construction worker for more than 35 years. He and his wife operated Maple Ridge Grocery Store for 17 years. He was a 60-year member of the First Reformed Church of Sodus. Spring burial will be in Fairville Cemetery. Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife of 20 years, June Shulla Fisher. His first wife, Sarah VanDeVelde Fisher, predeceased him. He is survived by three daughters, June (John) Shultz and Betty (Edward Sr.) DeWolf, both of Newark, and Alberta Fisher of Palmyra; two sons, David (Pat) and Albert Fisher of Newark; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Roger Shulla of Sodus, Darryl (Marlene) Shulla of Newark and Michael (Rebecca) Shulla of Florida; seven step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepson, Joseph Shulla.

Rolland, Elma - Elma L. Rolland, 79, died January 12, 2001.Interment in St. Anne's Cemetery. Elma is survived by sons, Richard (Linda) of Henrietta, Thomas of Palmyra, and William of Newark; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Leta Jones; several nieces and nephews.

DeWispelaere, Elizabeth - Elizabeth DeWispelaere, formerly of Newark, died January 13, 2001. She was a committee volunteer and member of the Rosary and Altar Society at St. Michael Church in Newark. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Jim) Fitch, Ann (Dennis) Fosnaugh and Mary (Kevin) McDermott; 10 grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Maurice (Arleeda) Hickey, James (Phyllis) Hickey and Thomas Gerald 'Jerry' (Tina) Hickey; nieces and nephews. Negus, Rose - Rose Assad Negus, 98, formerly of Newark, died January 3, 2001 in Largo, Florida. Rose was a Communicant of St. Michael's Church in Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, George A. Negus in 1995. She is survived by two sisters, Julie Johnston of Marion, and Mary Mocca, of Worcester, Massachusetts; six children, George (Ginny) Negus, Binghamton; Thomas (Patricia) Negus, Liverpool; Charles (Shirley) Negus, Massena; Delores (Mickeal) Heffernan, Los Angles; June (Joseph) Justino, Sun City Center, FL; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and friends Marian and Lowell Maxwell.

Orbaker, Mildred - Mildred E. Orbaker, 78, of Jason Dr., Newark, died January 5, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Macedon on Feb. 27, 1922 to Charles and Martha East Patridge. She worked for Floyd Redman assembling guns and later worked at West Plex in Manchester as an inspector. Mrs. Orbaker loved to crochet and was a member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens group. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park in Perinton. Mrs. Orbaker is survived by her husband, Glenn Orbaker; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Doris Orbaker of Webster; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Richard Inguaggiato of Walworth; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.

Wrench, Albert Sr. - Albert L. Wrench, Sr., 83, of Washington St., Newark died January 6, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. He was born in Newark to Lynn and Leah Lindsay Wrench on March 26, 1917. He was employed at Newark Developmental Center and later at the United States Post Office, where he retired in 1977. Mr. Wrench was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 83 F. & A.M. and also the Eastern Star Amitie Chapter 473. Interment in at Newark Cemetery at the convenience of the family. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Cook Wrench; son Albert L. Wrench Jr. of Newark; daughter Karen Strickland of Arizona; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Allen.

Johnson, Delia - Delia Johnson, 94, of Marion, died January 2, 2001. She was a retired store clerk, and a member of the Williamson Order of the Eastern Star #543. Interment in Marion Cemetery. She is survived by two nephews, Lee Johnson of Marion and Lyle Johnson of Leesburg, VA.

Provost, Sara - Sara Provost, 99, of Marion and Pittsford, died January 7, 2001. She was a member of the United Church of Marion. She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob and is survived by one granddaughter, and a sister Jenna.

Maier, Elizabeth -Elizabeth U. Maier, 85, of Newark, died January 10, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 7, 1915 in Rushville, to John and Harriet Holley Matteson. She co-owned and operated Maier Doughnuts in Palmyra and Rochester, with her husband Leonard, who died in 1976. She was a member of Park Presbyterian Church and its Sarah Circle; member of Rebekahs, Arcadia Senior Citizens and Lemonade Society. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by her children, Janice (Harold) Williamson of Ovid, Barbara (Roger) Johnson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Sandra (Richard) Witkowski of Hilton, David Ross of Bellingham, MA, Karensue (Michael) Vanderlyke of Palmyra; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Streeter, Michelle - Michelle Renee Streeter, 35, of Hoffman St., Newark, died January 1, 2001 at Via-Health Newark. Michelle was born April 19, 1965, in Bartow, Florida, to Fletcher and Rose Anna McCray Streeter. She had worked at Spinco in Newark and was a member of the Newark Community Church of God. Interment in Haines City, FL. She is survived by her companion, Nelson Morse; four sons, Terrance Robinson, Tavares and Telvin Streeter, and Charles Clemons Jr.; two daughters, Kimethy Pritchett and Felicia Clemons; her father, Fletcher Streeter; three brothers, Johnnie McCray, Fletcher Streeter, Jr. and Jeffery Streeter; five sisters, Annie Bea Streeter, Chelvy Kelley, Annie Lee Garrett, Mary Davis and Mary Wicson; her Aunt Rose Upshaw; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Rose Anna in July 1970.

Schaffer, John - John Schaffer, 77, of North Main Street, Newark, died January 1, 2001 at Via-Health Newark. John was born Nov. 8, 1923 in Hector, to George and Eva Boyer Schaffer. He was a plumber in Newark and had worked for the SpanCreat Co. of Rochester as a foreman for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was a past commander and life member of the Arcadia Memorial V.F.W. Post 2883, a life member of the Newark American Legion, a life member of the Newark Elks Lodge 1249, and a member of the Mechanics Club of Montour Falls. Interment in Newark Cemetery with full military rites accorded. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lillian Parisian; daughter, Marie (Donald) Wasman of Newark; three sisters, Eva Kretschmer, Sue MacPherson and Kay Adams of Rochester; granddaughter, Jennifer Collins of Newark; several nieces and nephews.

Rykbost, Albert - Albert (Bert) Rykbost, 89, of East Palmyra, died January 1, 2001. He was a retired farmer. Interment will be in East Palmyra Cemetery. He is survived by four sons, Robert (Marsha) Rykbost of Framingham, MA, Duane Rykbost of Lakeland, FL, Kenneth (Shirley) Rykbost of Klamath Falls, OR, and Larry (Jeanne) Rykbost of Sodus; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion (Paul) Welcher of Newark and Elizabeth Kimber of Elmira. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Hunt.
