Long, Dorothy - Dorothy M. Long, of Mumford, formerly of Newark, died September 30, 2001. She was born in Newark and graduated in 1928 from Newark High School. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Dow; granddaughters, Elizabeth (James) Bishop and Margaret Dow; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Bishop. She and her husband (deceased) spent the summers at Sodus Point. They belonged to the Yacht Club and were life members. Mr. Long was the manager of the F. W. Woolworth Store in Newark.

Cosgrove Amy - Amy L. Cosgrove, 78, of Newark, died Sept. 28, 2001 at ViaHealth. Interment in Newark Cemetery. She was born July 3, 1923 in Romulus, to John and Irene Conkling Brooks. A graduate of State University College at Morrisville, Mrs. Cosgrove owned and operated the Newark Discount Liquor Store and the Comida Real Estate Development Co. for many years. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Newark Country Club. She is survived by her two grandsons, Neal and John Kaupp of Rochester; and her brother, John (Caroline) Brooks of Romulus. She was predeceased in 1994 by her husband, Cornelius; by two daughters, Cynthia Kaupp in 1986, and Christine Cosgrove in 1996; and by her son, Cornelius in 1963.

Dippel, Florence - Florence R. 'Sue' Dippel of Walworth, died September 27, 2001. She was a secretary for Attorney Joseph Gervais; she was a former organist and member of the Walworth Methodist Church for many years. She was predeceased by Perry, her husband of 60 years; by sisters Grace Love and Elsie Hopkins; and a brother, Fred Sweet. She is survived by her children, Jeff (Ellen), Don, Ken (Bev), Tim; daughter-in-law, Jeanette; sister-in-law, Marcia; and 12 grandchildren.

Rotondo, Benola - Benola A. Rotondo, 75, of Savannah, died September 28, 2001, at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waterloo. Interment in Springbrook Cemetery, Seneca Falls. Mrs. Rotondo was born Dec. 11, 1925 in Dundee, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Clara Hutchings Harrison. She had resided in Savannah since 1969, moving from Seneca Falls. She was retired from Newark Developmental Center. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Seneca Falls. She is survived by three daughters, Joanne (Jon) Meyer of Clyde, Kathleen (Timothy) Brackett of Naples, and Ruth (Jeffrey) DeVeronica of Marion; five sons, Paul B. Rotondo of Savannah, Stephen (Beverly) Rotondo of Vancouver, WA, Richard (Betsy) Rotondo of Savannah, Douglas (Cynthia) Rotondo of Port Byron, and Stephen Rotondo Jr. of Newark; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 step daughters, Doris Watson of Geneva, and Betty Lou Marshall of Klamath Falls, OR; two stepsons, Donald (Sue) Rotondo of Seneca Falls, and Charles Rotondo of Waterloo; 13 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Rotondo, who died Sept. 18, 1974; one son, Joseph Rotondo II in 1963; one daughter, Rebecca Lee Rotondo in 1956; one grandson, Paul Rotondo Jr. in 1998; one great-grandson, John Evans in 1990; one stepson, Joseph E. Rotondo in 1962; several brothers and sisters.

Wemesfelder, Sandra - Sandra J. Wemesfelder, 54, of Marion, died after an accident on September 30, 2001. Interment at the Brookside Cemetery in Watertown. Sandra was a 1965 graduate of Cape Vincent High School and graduated from Bryant & Stratton in 1998. She is survived by William, her loving husband of 18 years; daughters, Corinne (Jamie) Schneider of Elbridge, Emily Wemesfelder of Marion; stepdaughter, Kimberlee (Brian) Wheeler of PA; stepsons, Bill (Michele) Wemesfelder, Jr. of Ontario and Mark (Kimberly) Wemesfelder of Marion; 13 grandchildren; brothers, David (Jacqueline) LaMora of Cape Vincent, Peter (Darlene) LaMora of CO; sisters, Christine (Mark Ginsberg) LaMora of Manlius, Donna (Ronnie) Butler of Canandaigua, Michele (Michael) Meixsell of Ontario, Francie (David) Halbrook of CO; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Vera, and a brother, Jerrold LaMora.

Baker-Fuller, Sarah Beth - Sara Beth Baker-Fuller, 29, of Canandaigua, died Wednesday, September 29, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Interment in the Port Gibson Cemetery. Sara Beth married Robert C. Fuller II on September 8, 2001. She is survived by husband Robert; her son, Jacob Andrew Baker; her parents, Donna Cianfoni, and Dennis and Helen Baker of Newark; her maternal grandmother, Mabel Jacobs; paternal grandmother, Loretta Maloney; her brothers, Todd, Douglas and Lucas; and many more loved ones.

Dallos, Ronald - Ronald James Dallos, 65, of Moore Street, Newark, died September 21, 2001 at his home. Ron was born February 22, 1936 in Norfolk, to Paul and Frances Robinson Dallos. He served in the Army in Vietnam, and was an Army recruiter in Newark. He had worked for Richardson Foods in Macedon as a forklift operator for 20 years. He was a member of the August Mauer American Legion Post 286 and the VFW Post 2883 in Newark. He also served as adjutant and chaplain, and received the Legionnaire of the Year Award. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra Smith; two sons, Sean (Kelly) of Newark and Tim of Hamilton, NJ; two brothers, George of Whitesboro and Kenneth of Norfolk; two sisters, Elizabeth Collins of Massena and Esther Nelson of Florida; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul Jr. and Raymond Dallos.

Thedens, Evelyn - Evelyn (Bliek) Thedens, 92, of West Walworth, died September 20, 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a charter member of West Walworth Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by husbands, John Bliek and Walter Thedens. She is survived by niece/stepdaughter, Joyce (Bill) Finney; nephew/stepson, Larry Thedens; sisters, Edith Morrison and Hazel McMullen; nieces and nephews and many friends. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery.

Neu, Raymond - Raymond George Neu, 78, of Newark died September 21, 2001 at the DeMay Living Center. Raymond was born to Joseph and Julie Stark Neu on May 15, 1923 in Rochester. He retired from the Rochester Telephone Co., where he repaired circuit boards. He was a life member of the American Legion August Mauer Post 286 and the VFW Post 2886 both in Newark. Mr. Neu is survived by his sons, Thomas (Anita) and Alan (Linda) Neu, both of Rochester; daughters, Beth (Dale) Platt, Jennifer (John) Woloshyn both of Rochester, and Mary Neu and her friend Charles of Newark; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Harold and sister, Veronica; nieces and nephews; special friends Cathy and Jeremy. He was predeceased by his son Michael Neu and daughter Laura Casper.

Pilkenton, William Thomas Sr. - William (Tom) Pilkenton, Sr., 76, of Lyons, died Sept. 21, 2001 at Newark Via Health. Interment in the South Lyons Cemetery. Mr. Pilkenton was born Feb. 25, 1925 in Lashmeet, West Virginia, a son of H.H. and RosaLee Hazelwood Pilkenton. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served from 1949-52, and then worked for Nabisco for 25 years. He worked at Fold-Pak and retired after 10 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Lois Poff Pilkenton, whom he married on Oct. 31, 1952; daughter, Brenda (Scott) Spencer of Lyons; son, William T. (Noreen) Pilkenton Jr. of Lyons; loving grandchildren, Jessica Spencer of Florida, Jared Spencer, Ashley and Adam Pilkenton, all of Lyons; two sisters, Sarah Hartwell and Nellie Papasso, both of Lyons; brother, James Pilkenton of Lyons; sisters-in-law, Mary Pilkenton of Auburn and Jessie Pilkenton of Lyons; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Howard and Elvin Pilkenton.

Wiggins, Ella Mae - Ella Mae Wiggins, 72, of Newark, died Sept. 22, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons. She was born May 31,1929 in Bradenton, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Sr. and Sarah Shadden Praylor. Ella Mae, her parents and nine siblings moved to Westbury in 1946, where she met and married Lee Virgil Wiggins, Jr. She remained a lifelong resident of Wayne County, retiring in 1993 after 20 years of service to Newark Community Hospital. Ella Mae, a Christian all her life, attended several churches in Wayne County, and later joined the Church of God in Newark. 'Grandma' had this motto: 'When asked - give without condition, when needed - give with love, and remember always, when you give to others, God will give to you.' She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (Michael) Nickson and Wendy Wiggins; grandchildren, Anthony Lane, Constance Wiggins, Shawn Lane, Asia Jones and Jacob Van Cleaf; two great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Page; brothers, Leslie and Harold Praylor; special niece, Kay Lorraine Pinkney; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughters, Demetrius and Loretta; and siblings, Elreese, Margaret, Leonard Jr., Sarah, Henry and Troy Sr.

Hyman, Alice - Alice E. Hyman, 73, of Port Gibson, died September 25, 2001 at Newark ViaHealth. Alice was born November 4, 1927 in Clyde, to Mason and Leona Smith Porter. She was a graduate of Clyde Central Schools and was married to her husband of 47 years, Donald C. Hyman, on August 7, 1954 at the United Methodist Church of Clyde. Alice was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. She is survived by her husband; by daughters, Donna C. Nichols of Shawnee, KS, Pamela J. Marsteiner of Lyons, Mary Alice Adams of Newark, and Cheryl A. Votra of Geneva; grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew, Clayton, Carson and Kim; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Heather, Hayden and Trevor; a brother, Robert Porter of Lyons; nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her brothers, Mason Porter, Jr. and William Porter.

Jansen, Esther - Esther A. Jansen, 84, died September 25, 2001 at ViaHealth Newark Campus. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. Esther was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Roland) Lunster of Ovid and Sandra (Raymond) Wahl of Palmyra; son, Robert (Shirley) Jansen of Manchester; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, David A. Jansen on August 11, 1969, and her sister, Lila Rohlin on May 28, 2001.

Kuhlman, Yvonne - Yvonne L. Kuhlman, 66, of Lyons died unexpectedly September 13, 2001 at Via Health of Wayne-Newark Campus. Yvonne was born April 17, 1935 to Delbert and Dorothy Bracken Miller in Gray, Pennsylvania. Yvonne graduated from Pittsburgh High School and the Pittsburgh Business School. She retired from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department where she was a Senior Accounting Clerk. Interment at the Centerville Cemetery, Pennsylvania. Yvonne is survived by her son, Thomas (Barb) Kuhlman of Newark; daughters, Carol Kuhlman of Lyons, Lori (David) Kuhlman-Horton of Phelps, and Kimberly Kuhlman and friend Dale of Savannah; seven grandsons and one great-grandson; brother, James (Linda) Pullin of Lyons; nieces and nephews. Yvonne is pre-deceased by her husband Russell D. Kuhlman in 1987, mother Dorothy in 1994, and daughter Debra in 1996.

Matteson, Bruce - Bruce Mitchell Matteson, 75, of Whitbeck Road, Newark died September 16, 2001 at Newark ViaHealth. Bruce was born June 22, 1926 to Albert and Mae Mitchell Matteson, in Arcadia. He retired from NYS Electric and Gas Co in 1986 after 35 years of service as a Chief Lineman. Bruce was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as past chair of the Stewardship Committee. He was a member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department - Deluge Hose Co. #1. Bruce was a member of the American Legion, August Mauer Post 286 and the Newark VFW, Post 2883. The Army flag flew in honor of his service during WWII. Interment is in East Palmyra Cemetery. Bruce is survived by Shirley (Wage), his loving wife of 56 years; son, David Matteson of New Jersey; two grandchildren; sister, Shirley Thoms of Lyons; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bender, Frank - Frank Charles Bender, 91, of Newark, died September 15, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mr. Bender was born March 21, 1910 to Fred and Mary Frick Bender, in Newark. He owned the largest dairy farm in Wayne County during the 1930's and 1940's. He raised a five-time New York State and Ohio Champion Stallion. Interment in Lyons Rural Cemetery. Mr. Bender is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Eric Dizmang of Newark; three grandsons; many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

VerPlank, William - William A. VerPlank, 86, of Marion, died September 16, 2001 after a long illness. He was a retired dairy farmer, and lifelong member of the Second Reformed Church and Marion Fire Dept. Interment in Marion Cemetery. He is survived by his children, Anne J. Rogers of Newark and James W. (Linda) VerPlank of Marion; grandchildren; sisters-in-law; and many dear relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Q. VerPlank; son-in-law, Kevin J. Cleason, Patricia - Patricia D. Cleason, 45, of Palmyra, died September 11, 2001 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic Extended Care Facility, following a long illness. Patricia was a kindergarten teacher at St. Michael's School in Newark prior to joining the Newark District at Kelley School as a remedial education teacher. She was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Church in Palmyra. She was involved with Relay for Life, Pat's Hats, Kelley School Ski Club and many other organizations. Interment in St. Anne's Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Abram Cleason; daughters Kelly and Christine; son, Ian; father, Tom Duffy of Fairport; sisters, Mary Ann Duffy of Denver, CO and Catherine Hazlett (Duffy) of Clinton, NJ. She was predeceased by her mother Katherine Duffy.

Lootens, Valerie Jean - Valerie Jean Lootens, 39, of Phelps Rd., Gorham, died September 5, 2001 at the home of her mother. Valerie was born Oct. 22, 1961 in North Tonawanda to Richard Joseph Mills and Kathleen Hastings Mills. She earned her G.E.D, and was a 1998 graduate of FLCC, with a Liberal Arts Degree. She did work-study while attending college. She had a love of animals and of music, and had played the violin and drums for several years. She had been a member of the Zion Fellowship for 20 years. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Joseph Mills Sr. in 1998 and by her brother, Gary Wayne Mills in 2000. She is survived by her husband, David Lootens; daughter, Sarah Lootens, and son, Ian Lootens, both at home; her mother, Kathleen Mills of Canandaigua; brother, Richard Joseph Mills Jr. of Gorham; her paternal grandmother, Dolores Mills of North Tonawanda; nieces and nephews.

Brown, Donald - Donald (Don) William Brown, 64, of Newark/Fairville, died suddenly September 9, 2001 at Via Health of Newark. Don was born to the late Donald and Lillian Malbone Brown on February 4, 1937 in Wilmington, NY. He worked for Fold-Pak Corp. in Newark as a machinist. He was a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church, and a life member of Phelps American Legion and the Lyons Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. Don was a past member of the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department and was the first Boy Scout Leader in Fairville. Interment at Fairville Cemetery. Don is survived by his wife of 19 years, Margaret 'Peggy' Brown; son, David (Doreen) Brown of Newark; daughters, Lise Brown and Alice (James) Lawrence, both of North Carolina, and Melody Blankenberg of Newark; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Gary) Niles of Waterloo, Donna Garrison of Seneca Falls, Shirley Brown of Canandaigua and Helen (Roger) Pierce of Newark; mother-in-law, Ruth Wadley of Newark; many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his father, Donald, on Oct. 15, 1979 and mother, Lillian on Oct. 18, 2000.

Haskins, Ruth - Ruth E. Haskins, 78, of Marion died September 7, 2001. She was a member of the Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary, the Richards Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the United Church of Marion. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Vincent (Bud); her children, Mark (Linda) Haskins, Deborah (James) Christie, Scott Haskins, Wendy (Stephen) Cook, all of Marion; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, June Young of Marion, Beth Stevenson of Ontario, Wilma Campisi of West Webster; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Blazey, John - John S. Blazey, 93, of Palmyra, died September 7, 2001 at Thompson Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua. John was owner and operator of John S. Blazey Farm Implement, Inc. and a welder in the Palmyra area since 1935. He was Mayor of Palmyra, member of the Palmyra Rotary Club, Palmyra Volunteer Ambulance, and co-founder of the Palmyra Airport. He was a lifelong member of the Palmyra First United Methodist Church. John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice; a son, John T. (Judy) Blazey of Palmyra; daughter, Judy (Scott) Price of Canandaigua; three grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by daughter, Jean Marie; three brothers and one sister.

Gebo, Catherine Rose - Catherine Rose Gebo, of Macedon, died September 7, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Zatine Gebo; brother, Raymond Gebo of Macedon; uncle, Mike (Tonya) Gebo of Marion; aunt, Amanda Gebo of Macedon; grandparents, Richard (Catherine) Gebo, of Macedon; cousins and friends.

Herring, Elizabeth - Elizabeth J. Herring, 81, of North Rose, died September 6, 2001 at home. Interment St. Paul Church Cemetery in Thomasville, GA. She is survived by her sons, Odell Jr. of Newark and Christopher (Elisa) of North Rose; one daughter, Louise McCray of Newark; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Odell in 1984 and daughter, Henrietta Snead in 1998.McLaughlin, Edith - Edith 'Ann' McLaughlin, 74, of Clifton Springs died September 8, 2001 after a brief illness. Ann was born October 19, 1926 in Geneva, to Claude and Edith Clark Costley. She lived in the Finger Lakes area all her life. Ann enjoyed her family, shopping and gardening. She is survived by Donald, her husband of 53 years; daughters, Donna McLaughlin of Hope Mills, NC and Debra McLaughlin of Geneva; son, Daniel (Jacqueline) McLaughlin of Newark; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Jackson, Antoinette - Antoinette Jackson, 83, of Sodus Point, died September 5, 2001 at the Pines of Peace in Ontario. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. Antoinette is survived by sons, Thomas (Audrey) of Dover, PA and Stephen (Rose) of Oakdale, CT; five grandchildren; sister, Betty Kendall of CA; brother, Robert (Marie) Scoby of SC; nieces, nephews and friends.

VerDow, Rodney - Rodney J. VerDow, 49, of Clifton Springs, died Sept. 9, 2001, after a brief illness. Rodney is survived by his wife, Cynthia Howard VerDow; parents, Richard and Eldine VerDow; brother, Randy (Mary) VerDow.

Salter, Evelyn - Evelyn M. Salter, 73, of Sodus, died September 9, 2001. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward; children, Linda (Clark) Batchelder of Alton, Edward J. Jr. of Las Vegas, Sandra (Steve) Wickman of Sodus, Danny of Lyons and Luann Bellinger of Sodus; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and siblings.

Coco, Joseph - Joseph Coco, 88, of Binghamton, died September 9, 2001. Joseph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Grace Coco; his son, Dick Coco and Kate Clair of Binghamton; grandsons, Geoffrey of Seattle, Ken and Nancy Coco of Nashville, IL, Robert Coco and Carolyn Eaton of Oswego; and granddaughter, Jamie Cianfarano of Syracuse. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton.

Cordaro, Joseph - Joseph S. Cordaro, 82, died suddenly on Sept. 9, 2001. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rosemary Colombo. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Yolanda (Muoio) Cordaro, and a son Joseph M. Hodge, Gladys - Gladys E. Hodge, of Washington Street, Newark, died August 30, 2001. She was a retired Promotional Manager and Travel Coordinator of Sarah Coventry, Inc. Internment will be at the convenience of the family in Greenwich Cemetery, Greenwich, NY. She is survived by cousins in Canada, and England. She was predeceased by her husband Samuel in 1976.

Gardner, Ellen - Ellen T. Gardner, 87, of Lyons, died Sept. 3, 2001 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Burial in the Lyons Rural Cemetery. Ellen was born Jan. 25, 1914 in Lyons to Cornelius and Lizetta Bremer-Collins. She was an executive secretary to the former Governor Thomas Dewey in Albany. She was also a dog groomer and member of St. Michael's Church in Lyons. She is survived by her niece, Larry Ann (Ignacio Calvo) Evans of Lyons; and great-nephew, Alexander Calvo of Lyons. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard, in 1972 and sister, Ann Collins Evans, in 1999.

Ebertz, Hazel - Hazel S. Ebertz, 97, formerly of Newark, died September 3, 2001 at the Finger Lakes Center for the Living in Auburn. Born in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Lucian and Helen Lookup Sweezey. Mrs. Ebertz attended Bowling Green University in Ohio and received her RN degree from Arnot Ogdon Hospital in Elmira. She was employed with Newark Hospital for 20 years and retired in 1970. She moved from Newark to Auburn in 1991. She was a former member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark, AARP, Newark's Rose City Singing Ensemble and the Morning Musicals in Auburn. Following her retirement, she was an active volunteer at Newark Hospital and, at age 80, she was voted the hospital's volunteer of the year. She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne E. (Dr. Donald) Westee of Auburn and Andrea (Ronald) Coleman of Atlanta; a son, Dr. Peter (Diana) Ebertz of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Eunice) Sweezey of Florida and a brother-in-law, Harold Spencer of Palmyra. She was predeceased by her children's father, Dr. C. Dexter Ebertz in 1969; a brother, Raymond Sweezey and sister, Margaret Spencer. Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn.

Rease, Pamela - Pamela J. Rease, 44 of East Maple Ave., died September 1, 2001. She was born March 2, 1957 in Sodus, to Russell and Thelma Cooney Raethka. She was a secretary for 14 years with the Dept. of Social Services in Lyons. Pam was a graduate of Sodus High School and Arcadia Business School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Interment, East Newark Cemetery. Pamela is survived by her husband, Daniel; her children, Matthew and Caitlin, both at home; her mother, Thelma Raethka of Sodus; two brothers, Gary (Dianne) Raethka of Sodus and Russell Raethka of Old Town, FL; nieces and nephews.

Abrams, Elwood 'Bud' - Elwood G. 'Bud' Abrams, 77, of Williamson/Walworth, died August 29, 2001. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. Airy, Harry - Harry Dean Airy, 96, of Marion, died August 30, 2001. He retired from IBM in 1970 as a customer engineer. He was a Royal Arch Mason, York Rite Mason, member of several lodges and orders of the Eastern Star in the Rochester and Carson City, NV areas. He was predeceased by his wife, Emily Airy. Lewis, Evelyn K. - Evelyn K. 'Tiny' Lewis of Williamson, 91, died at the Blossom View Nursing Home. She was a retired engineer from Eastman Kodak. Interment, Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert P. Lewis. Reeves, Elizabeth - Elizabeth 'Betty' Reeves, 78, died August 28, 2001 at the DeMay Living Center, Newark. Betty was born August 9, 1923 in Hoboken. She married Richard C. Reeves on September 15, 1951. Betty was a member of Park Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir for many years. She was an avid bowler and president of the Thursday Night Bowling League. Betty was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Jack Skinner of Newark; grandchildren, Christopher Reeves, Travis Skinner and Cody Skinner; sister-in-law, Joyce Deming of Indiana; nephews, Tim Deming of Indiana, Dave Deming of Ohio; niece, Dawn Merrynan of Indiana; very special friend Carm Harrison. Betty was predeceased by her husband Richard on February 14, 2000. Interment, East Palmyra Cemetery.

Boise, Laverne W. - Laverne Wayne Boise, 78, died suddenly on August 25, 2001 at his home. Laverne was born February 10, 1926 to Isaac and Jennie Bruno Boise in Williamson. He retired from Garlock Corp. as superintendent on March 1, 1988, after 37 years. He served in the Army Medical Corps from 1945 - 1946. Mr. Boise is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Lillian Sperrazza Boise; sons Lee (Kim) Boise of Waterloo and Brian Boise of Newark; daughter Susan (Shawn) Curran of Texas; five grandchildren Tim, Kevin and Ashleigh Boise, Kelly and Conner Curran; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews. His sister-in-law Clara DeLuca died on April 27, 2001. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Penrith, Thomas - Thomas F. Penrith II, 75, died peacefully at home on August 24, 2001 after a long battle with cancer. He was a WWII veteran, a survivor of the December 1944 battle of Bastogne, in Belgium. He was a member of the VFW Post 286 and the Newark American Legion. Tom was employed by the Village of Newark Water and Sewer Dept. for 32 years. He is survived by wife, Betty J.; sons, Harry (Nancy) Robertson of Wolcott; Thomas F. (Deanna) Penrith III of Clifton Springs; grandson Christopher Robinson of Newark; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Tellier of Newark, Dorothy Fitzgibbon of Little Rock, Arkansas; nieces and nephews; step-children, Jean (Gary) Schwartz of MN, Kathleen Robinson of Rochester, Jim (Jae) Smith of Walworth, Laurie L. Fox Edwards, Monica - Monica Fox-Edwards, 91, a resident of the Bethany House, Rome, and formerly of Utica and Armstrong Senior Living in Newark, died August 24, 2001. She was born October 10, 1909 in Utica, the third child of Edward F. and Gertrude Darragh-Fox. She graduated from Cortland Normal School and was married to Charles Richard Edwards for over 59 years. She taught school and had been a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Richard in 1993. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy and James Morrison of Newark, Carol and Charles Fox of Rome, Mary and Alan Hesse of Inlet and Florida, Susan and Raymond Plagge of Montpelier, VT; son, Robert C. Edwards of Remsen; 14 grandchildren, including Brian and Adam Morrison, and four great-grandchildren. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.

Minier, Burt - Burt D. Minier, 57, of Sodus, died suddenly on August 27, 2001. Mr. Minier was employed at Boulder Construction in Webster for over 20 years. He worked for 11 years with his wife at the Sunrise Restaurant in Sodus, which she owned. He is survived by his children, Brian and Wendi, both of Greece; stepchildren, Donald Shaw of Rochester, Kenny Shaw of Victor and Darlene Shaw of Sodus; seven step-grandchildren; four sisters: Emily Schram and Ruth (Junior) Hixson of Wolcott, Dorothy (Richard) Bastian of Newark, Shirley Avery of Bloomfield; four brothers, Howard (Marie) of Wolcott, Jake (Phyllis) and Robert (Shirley), all of Florida, Gordon (Ann) of Hamburg; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

McCuen, June - June M. McCuen, 81, of Palmyra, died suddenly on August 23, 2001. June is survived by her children, Marilu (Terry) Buck of Sun Lakes, AZ, Richard (Peggy) VanHaneghan of Newark, and Patricia McCuen of Newark; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June was a member of the Western Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.

Wilson, Nancy - Nancy B. Wilson, 66, of Marion, died August 27, 2001. She is predeceased by her parents. Burgess, John - John Burgess, 79, of Elmwood Avenue, Newark, died August 19, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Mr. Burgess was born August 2, 1922, in Waterloo to Herbert and Ida Hicks Burgess. He had worked for 38 years for NYSEG where he was a gas foreman, retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church and a past commander of the Geneva VFW. He had served with the Army Air Corps in North Africa during World War II. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast and an avid camper and traveler. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Heffron Burgess; five sons, John W. of Albany, Robert (Rebecca) of Oswego, Thomas (Karen) of Newark, David of Newark, and Edward (Maura) of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Patricia (John) Guest of Newark; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; a brother, Herbert George Burgess of Apple Valley, CA. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Francis.

Welcher, Muriel C. - Muriel C. Welcher, 95, of Fairville, formerly of Maple Ridge Road, died August 20, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Mrs. Welcher was born January 23, 1906 in Newark, the daughter of Adelbert and Isadore Penoyar Cull. She was a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church where she had been the organist for over 30 years. She taught piano lessons from her home. She was a switchboard operator at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Newark Garden Club and the Coterie Club. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (C. Monroe) Van Ness of Penfield; Marion (Ronald) Jobin of Ocala, FL, and Barbara (Gary) Wells of Newark; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice in 1972, a daughter, Martha Welcher in 1986 and two sisters, Mildred Kimmel in 1986 and Esther Carpenter in 1940.

Webber, Hattie - Hattie A. Webber, 96, of Palmyra, died August 19, 2001 at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home. Hattie was a member of the Western Presbyterian Church of Palmyra where she served as Deacon and spent many years supporting the activities of the Women's Association. She was a member of the Palmyra Kings Daughters and a volunteer with the Twig Association at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Ed) Wheeler of Palmyra; grandson, Chris Wheeler of Webster; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert in 1992, granddaughter Lynn Notareschi on March 5, 2001, and 10 brothers and sisters. Committal at White Haven Memorial Park.

Stetzel, Susan - Susan B. Stetzel, 86, of Stanley, died August 17, 2001 at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Bergstresser. Mrs. Stetzel was born March 19, 1915 in the Town of Benton to John T. and E. Louise Paddock Bishop. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1930 at age 15. She graduated from Keuka College in 1934. She was formerly employed as the head telephone operator for Seneca-Gorham Central School District Office, and later taught school at Gorham Central School. She and her husband, William C. Stetzel, owned and operated Wm. C. Stetzel Inc. and Acorn Grove Campgrounds until his death on March 2, 1997. She was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church, the Benton Firemen's Auxiliary and was a life member of the Stanley Firemen's Auxiliary. She attended the Adult Day Center in Geneva. She is survived by two daughters, Bette (Dexter) Morrison of Newark, and Bonnie (James) Bergstresser of Stanley; son, John (Peggy) Stetzel of Guilford, VT; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1997, son-in-law Arthur E. 'Buddy' Phillips in 1991, and a grandson, Randy Phillips in 1999.

Hamelinck, Lavina - Lavina Hamelinck, 93, of Newark died August 22, 2001 at her home. Mrs Hamelinck was born March 1, 1908 in Holland, to Adrian and Elizabeth Karls De Fisher. For many years she operated her own catering service in Newark and did housekeeping. She was a member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens. She is survived by her two sisters, Mabel (Stephen) Patchett and Elizabeth (Abe) Dayton and her brother, Isaac (Betty) DeFisher, all of Sodus; and three sisters-in-law, Bertha Claeys, Josie DeFisher and Inez Harnelinck, of Newark. She was predeceased by her husband, Bert, who passed away Aug. 29, 1999, and by her brothers Adrian, Abram, and Marinus DeFisher and her sister, Catherine DeNering. Interment will be in Marion Cemetery.

Smith, Virginia - Virginia Redder Smith, 78, of Newark, died August 21, 2001 at Pines of Peace after a long fight with lung cancer. Interment in Newark Cemetery. The only daughter of Dewey and Emma Marks Redder was born July 30, 1923 in Penfield. She was a graduate of Rochester General Hospital, receiving her RN degree, and she graduated from North Western as a Physical Therapist. Mrs. Smith was an ardent skier and a member of the Newark County Club, where she enjoyed playing golf for many years. She is survived by her loving husband Garry; daughter Kimberly; grandson Branden; son Roger; stepdaughter Marilee; brother-in-law Roger and his wife Mavis; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rogers, Kevin - Kevin J. Rogers, 60, of Newark, died August 21, 2001 at his home. Kevin was born in Seneca Falls, on July 30, 1941 to Edwin J. and Jane Sparr Rogers. He was a retired New York State Trooper. He was a graduate of Mynderse Academy and served with the U. S. Army. He was a member of the August Mauer Post #286, American Legion in Newark. Kevin will long be admired for his courageous and independent spirit. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Anne Ver Plank Rogers; and two beloved sons, Michael J. and Mark W., both at home. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Richard Rogers.

Jones, George E. - George 'Ernie' Jones, 84, of Newark, died August 21, 2001. Mr. Jones had retired from Garlock Mechanical Packing Co. in Palmyra after 43 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Palmyra Moose Lodge. The funeral home will fly the United States Marine Corp. flag in honor of George's service to his country. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty; daughter, Linda; son, Larry (Ruby) Jones; grandson, David A. Fish; granddaughters, Melissa and April Jones; two sisters, Gerry VerStringhe and Elsie Prince; nieces and nephews. Gavitt, Marjorie - Marjorie DeHond Gavitt, 82, of Dickerson Street, Lyons, died August 14, 2001 at Newark ViaHealth, after a short illness. Marjorie was born October 19, 1918 in Newark, the daughter of the late John and Bertha DeHond. She graduated from Newark High School in 1936, and then worked as a receptionist for the Bloomer Brothers Packaging Company in Newark. During WWII, she volunteered as a nurse's aid and volunteered to send care packages to the troops in Europe. Survivors include Bill, her husband of 57 years; son, Bill Jr. (Cynthia) of Phelps; daughter, Sallie (Stephen) Holland of Hawthorne, FL; two grandsons in Florida; one granddaughter in Phelps. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Thorne of Oxford, NY. A longtime resident of Lyons, Marge was a 50-plus year member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women's Association. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Troop Leader. She served many years as an Elections Inspector. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, playing the piano, and camping with her family in the Adirondack Mountains in the 1950s and 1960s. She also enjoyed playing golf in the 1960s and 1970s and played bridge with her many friends. She traveled with her husband to Europe, Australia, the Caribbean and throughout the United States.

Ameele, Theresa - Theresa M. Ameele, 91, of Marion died August 9, 2001. Theresa was born in Marion, daughter of Arthur A. and Mable Horton White. She is survived by her daughter, Norma (Jerry Burrows) Ameele of West Walworth; and son, Bruce of Marion; her special cousin, Genevieve White Ritter of Syracuse; sisters-in-law, Leona Garlock of Newark, and Jeanette Ameele of Shortsville; brother-in-law, Milton (Maggie) Ameele of Marion; nieces and nephews and friends. Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Floyd in 1880 and her brother, Kenneth in 1981. Interment is in the Marion Cemetery.

Marchioli, Joyce - Joyce Earl (Mohr) Marchioli, 86, of San Bernardino, California, died July 21, 2001 at St. Bernadine Medical Centre, of a subdural hematoma. Aa native of Newark, she lived in San Bernardino for 52 years. She graduated in 1904 from Newark High School, and she attended Cortland State University. Joyce married Nicolas C. Marchioli, of Newark, in June 1943. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral Catholic Church, San Bernardino. Survivors include her son, Dr. Louis of Hacienda Heights, CA; two daughters Mary Nagel of San Bernardino and Margaret of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; sister-in-law Anna Marchioli Behan of San Leandro, CA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Interment is in Mt. View Cemetery, San Bernardino.

Padgett, Velma - Velma W. Padgett, of Escondido, California, died August 8, 2001 at Escondido Care Center. She was formerly of Newark. She is survived by her husband; daughter Nancy Jantzen in Alabama, son Richard Carpenter of Vermont; grandchildren Joseph Jantzen of Rochetser, Ginger Meade of Florida, Bonnie (David) Babcock of Canandaigua, great-grandchildren and one nephew. Interment is in Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego.

Smallidge, Gertrude - Gertrude N. Smallidge, 72, of Palmyra/Newark, died August 2, 2001 at the DeMay Living Center. Gertrude was born Nov. 25, 1928 in Newark, the daughter of Harry Murray and Edith Brown. She and her husband operated G&L Fashions for many years. She was a volunteer at the DeMay Living Center. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Linda (Arthur) Rapini of Geneva; sisters and brother; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Chester, who died in October 1995; and a son, Jeffery, who died in September 1966.

Suppes, Chester - Chester A. Suppes Jr., 77, of Geneva, died August 5, 2001 in Geneva General Hospital. He was born in Geneva, the son of the late Chester A. and Polly Sholes Suppes. Chet attended Geneva schools and graduated from Pawling School. He attended Hobart College and graduated from Texas A&I University. He served in the Air Corps during World War II. He was affiliated with Corning Glass, Royal McBee, Maxwell Bowden and Rice Nurseries, before becoming affiliated with Henry-Shepard Smith, Inc. Insurance in Geneva. He was active in many civic organizations including the Geneva Rotary Club, where he was a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow; the Seneca Yacht Club, Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes; Finger Lakes Association of Life Underwriters; Geneva Historical Society; Geneva Country Club and Kappa Alpha Society. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where a memorial service was held. Burial will be in the Columbarium at the Trinity Church. He is survived by his wife, Sally; three daughters, Lauren Valkenburgh of Newark, Martha Suppes of Geneva, and Sarah Suppes of Boston, MA; two grandchildren, Stacy Gail Valkenburgh and Frederick Chester Valkenburgh of Newark; his sister, Trudy Suppes Lewis of Geneva; his brother, Frederick Sholes Suppes of Caledonia, WI; several nieces and nephews.

D'Amato, Ralph - Ralph A. D'Amato, 84, of Lyons, died August 7, 2001 at Newark ViaHealth, after a short illness. Ralph was born March 25, 1917 in Clyde, to Antonio and Anna Sicuranzo D'Amato. He made his home in Lyons for 60 years, retiring from Rush-Henrietta School District in 1980. He also had worked part time for St. Michael's Church in Lyons as a grounds keeper until 1995. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna DeTorio D'Amato; three daughters, Barbara D'Amato of Florida, Linda D'Amato of Lyons, and Marie (Donald) Leisenring of Newark; son, Ralph J. (Linda) Jr. of Lyons; four grandchildren, Charles and Cheryl Leisenring of Newark and Jennifer and Matthew D'Amato of Lyons; one brother, Richard of Clyde; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Josephine, and his parents.

Morgan, Janet - Janet A. (Harpell) Morgan, 101, of Williamson, died August 7, 2001 at Blossom View Nursing Home. She was a member of the Pultneyville Reformed Church. Edwards, Clara - Clara A. 'Iona' Edwards, 74, of Newark died August 8, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. She was born April 9, 1927 in Newark to Thomas and Lillian Jones Penrith. Iona was the Postmistress at the East Palmyra Post Office for 13 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the East Palmyra Presbyterian Church. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert, in 1979 and sisters, Fanny Wynebrenner and Juanita Murray.

Lewis, Evelyn A. - Evelyn Amelia Lewis, 78, of Newark, died July 25, 2001 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Evelyn was born May 24, 1923 in Gates, to Clarence and Delia Deane Elliott. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark and the Way-Ont Saddle Club, where she had served as treasurer for 14 years. Evelyn was a member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens. Interment in East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Gilbert 'Gil' Lewis; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra (Ken) Casselman of Newark, Carol (Robert) Owen of Clifton Springs and Kathy (Michael) Lewis-Atherton of Montana; grandchildren, Kimberly Owen, Debra Baker, Kevin (Tamara) Owen, Timothy (Gillian) Casselman, Rebecca Casselman, Corey Atherton and Kier Atherton; five great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Irene) Elliott of Clifton Springs; sister, Ruth Patzwald of Penfield; and many nieces and nephews. Graham, James W. - James W. Graham, 63, of Wolcott, died July 26, 2001. Jim was a member of Christ Community Church in Clyde, where he was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and publisher of the church newsletter. He was a member of the State Police, retiring after 22 years service. He served in the Air Force and in the Army Reserves for over 20 years in the 98th Division. He was active with Camp High Hopes, Brantingam, for children with hemophilia and served on its board. He and his wife, Donna, owned and operated JLS Lawn Service. He is survived his wife, Donna; children, Tom (Donna) Graham of Clay, Robert of Syracuse, and Richard and James David both of Elmira; stepchildren, Terri (Ron) Colton of Waterloo, Christine (Art) Couperus of Heuvelton, Douglas (Mary) Mashewske of Clyde, and Robert Laird Jr. (fiancee Beatrice Jones) of Barre, MA; two grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren, a brother, Glenn of Texas; three sisters, Lorraine (Dan) Rowland and Elizabeth Graham of GA and Claire Graham of North Carolina; Aunt Deeda Elmore of North Carolina; cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Buisch, Mary - Mary Buisch, 71, of Newark, formerly of Lyons, died unexpectedly on July 25, 2001 at home. Mary was born June 15, 1930 in Newark, to James A. and Mina Acker Matthews. Mary was known for her joke telling and quick wit. She was a piano teacher and pianist for local functions. She was a member of Lyons United Methodist Church and was active in church functions. She was employed by Chase-Lincoln Bank in Newark for more than 40 years. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. She is survived by her son David of Lyons; daughter, Deborah (Clifford) Gee of Clifton Springs; grandchildren, Michael and Maribeth Gee; brother, William (Grace) Matthews of Rochester; sister-in-law, Catherine Ehman of Newark; brother-in-law, Wilred Buisch of Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1999.

Dalrymple, Angelo - Angelo Dalrymple, 26, of Lyons, died July 27, 2001 in an auto accident in Rochester. Angelo was born in Geneva and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was the son of Joseph McCoy and Deborah Dalrymple Bostic. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Geneva. He is survived by his parents, Joseph McCoy of Dunkirk and Deborah Bostic of Lyons; six brothers - John Lopez of Lyons, Joseph McCoy, Robert McCoy, Cardell Singletary, Rondell Singletary, all of Geneva, and Curtis McCoy of North Carolina; three sisters - Rose Singletary of Geneva, Tina Lawrence of Ohio, Gloria Caito of Geneva; nephew John Lopez, Jr.; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Messinger, Lucile - Lucile Messinger, 96, of Sodus, died July 30, 2001. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. She was predeceased by her parents, Ella and Perry Messinger, and a sister, Eleanor Gilbert of Syracuse. She is survived by her brother, Donald (Thelma) Messinger of Clyde; several nieces, great nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

Haggerty, John - John Haggerty, 81, of Newark, died July 30, 2001. Interment in Sodus Rural Cemetery. He served during World War II aboard the Navy ship Ashland. He was once Commander of the Sodus Point VFW and Sodus VFW. John was predeceased by his son, Daniel, and brother, William. He is survived by his longtime companion, Barbara Cook of Palmyra; daughter-in-law, Lynne Haggerty of PA; three grandchildren and one great-grandson in PA; sister, Teresa Molinari of Rochester; relatives and friends. He was a special Dad to Marilyn Fowler and Sonja (Robert) Blair, and special Grandpa to Chris and Chuck Fowler, Mark, Jan and Kim Morganti, Pat, Debbie, Bob, Mary, Mike and Gus Blair.

Jumps, Marian - Marian Maldoon Jumps, 93, of Williamson, died July 30, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Garland. She is survived by daughters, Mary Ellen (George) Giroux of Williamson, and Sylvia (C.J.) Dorschel of Webster; six grandchildren, Mark (Paula), Stephen (Carolyn) and Peter (Deborah) Giroux; Laurie (Arthur) Williams of Newark; J. Collier, Gertrude - Gertrude J. Collier, 86, of Marion died July 18, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph and brothers, Francis (Dutch) Shoales and John Shoales. Survived by a daughter, Linda (John) Newlander of Macedon; sons, Elwin (Carole) Collier of Rushville, and the Rev. Dr. Donald (Christine) Collier of Riverside, CA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, George (Lila) Shoales of Williamson; sister, Louise (Andrew) Dawson of Williamsburg, VA; many nieces and nephews.

Critelli, Michael - Michael D. Critelli, 82, died on July 22, 2001 in the presence of his family. He has resided for a little more than a year at Cedar View Health Center in Janesville, Wisconsin. Mike was born November 1, 1918 in Newark, to Felix and Rose Marie Critelli. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, finishing his tour of duty as a B-17 pilot. After his service to his country he returned to Rochester, where he began work for the Gannett Rochester newspapers (Democrat and Chronicle and the Times-Union). He married his wife, Carmela (Gigliotti), soon after returning to Rochester. Following retirement from Gannett, he and his wife moved to Florida, where Mike continued to reside until June of 2000 when he moved to Janesville. His wife Carmela died January 21, 1994. Mike is survived by his brother, Tom of Newark; daughter, Petrina (David) MacDougall of Janesville; son, Michael J. (Joyce) Critelli of Darien, CT; son, John (Joyce) Kotch of Hilton; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who will miss 'Grampa Telly' very much.

Lawrence, Elizabeth - Elizabeth T. Lawrence, 91, of North Rose, a resident of Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus, died July 17, 2001. She was born in Williamson on January 22, 1910, to Harry A. and Maude A. Muhl Tellier. She was a teacher at Sodus Schools for over 20 years. Interment in Marion Cemetery. Surviving are her daughter, Maggi (Rich) Prong of North Rose; two grandchildren; sister, Ellen (Newt) Whitcomb of Delaware; brother, Eugene (Jane) Tellier of MA; sister-in-law, Mildred Tellier of North Carolina; nieces, nephews and cousins; adopted family, Barbara and Tom Ingrassia. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Lawrence in 1981, and a brother, Harry Tellier, Jr.

Fitzgerald, Jean - Jean Margaret (Elve) Fitzgerald, 80, of Marion, died July 21, 2001, following complications from a fall at her home. She was retired from Rochester Products. Interment in Marion Cemetery. Oakleaf, Hazel - Hazel F. Oakleaf, 83, of Lyons, died July 20, 2001 at her home. Hazel was born March 12, 1918 in Lyons, to Arthur and Clara Buisch Facer. She had worked at the former Lyons Hospital, and was a nurse for Dr. Wood. She retired in 1976 from Acme Market as a cashier and meat wrapper. She was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, and was involved with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Lynn Robert Oakleaf of California, and Craig Alan (Suzanne) Oakleaf of Lyons; three grandchildren; two brothers, Russell (Catherine) Facer of Newark, and Glenn (Mary) Facer of Lyons; two sisters, Mildred (Clayton) Housel of Fort Myers, FL and Janice Gabrielse of Lyons; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jan Herman. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1980.

Scribner, Kathryn - Kathryn C. Scribner, 85, of Palmyra and Newark, died July 21, 2001. Interment is in Palmyra Cemetery. She is survived by her step-daughter, Sandra Boerman of Marion; step-sons, Jack Scribner of New York City and Gary (Lynda) Scribner of Farmington; eight step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Corner; sister, Henrietta Walter; nieces and nephews. Pierce, Mary Ann - Mary Ann 'Marie' (Petrosino) Pierce, 89, died July 24, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Interment at St. John's Cemetery in Clyde. Marie was born September 16, 1911 in Poland, to Marion and Mazurowska Vladyslawa Wisniewski. She arrived in the United States on April 10, 1914 on the SS Ryndam. Marie worked for Hickock Corp. in Lyons on the assembly line for many years and was the proprietor of Petrosino Cleaner in Clyde. She was a member of St. Michael Church in Newark and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Marion. Past member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Clyde. Marie is survived by her loving husband Earl Pierce; sons, John Petrosino of Auburn and James (Betty) Petrosino of Port Byron; daughter, Elizabeth Betty (Don) Bucholtz of Florida; step-sons Roger (Helen) Pierce of Newark and Richard Pierce of North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Carmella Petrosino of Auburn; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Angie) Wisniewski of Clyde and John Wisniewski of Michigan; many nieces and nephews. Green, Willard - Willard 'Ike' E. Green, 82, of Newark, died July 24, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursin Home. Ike was born April 18, 1919 in Manchester, to Ezra and Mabel Swick Green. He had worked for the Veterans Association Hospital in Canandaigua as a mason. He was a veteran of the Army, having served during World War II. He was also a member of the Moose Club in Canandaigua. Interment, Newark Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Josephine; step-daughter, Dorothy Zulauf of Clyde; stepson, Ronald Lay of Tennessee; six step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grand nieces and nephews; and great -nieces and grand nephews.

Curcio, Carmela - Carmela Curcio, 88, of Newark, died July 25, 2001. Mrs. Curcio was born August 24, 1912 in Newark, the daughter of Joseph and Rose Salatino. She worked at the Newark Jr. High Cafeteria for 25 years, retiring in 1977. She was also a lifelong communicant of St. Michael's Church. Interment in the East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Michael) Chelenza of Newark and Rose Marie (John) Lapomarda of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Muoio and Mary (Thomas) Chiazza both of Newark. Cunningham, Jennifer - Jennifer L. Cunningham, 25, of Palmyra, died July 9, 2001 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Jennifer will be missed by her husband, Thomas J. Cunningham; sons, Dylan, age 5, Gavin, 3, and twin daughters, Madison and McKenna, age 7 months. She is also survived by her mother, Michelle Gigliello; father, Phillip Gigliello; sister, Nora Gigliello; mother-in-law, Linda Cunningham; sisters-in-law, Rebecca and Melissa Cunningham; grandmother, Jane Myers; husband's grandparents, Raymond and Ruth Baker and Thomas 'TJ' and Anne Cunningham; aunt, Donna Brenesholtz; dear friends and co-workers. Holmes, Doris E. - Doris Eleanor Holmes, 70, died Saturday, July 14, 2001 at her daughter's home in Newark. Doris was born the daughter of Paul and Katherine Bachman Stierwalt on October 9, 1930 in Salisbury, Maryland. She had worked as the assistant manager of a Seven-11 store in Norfolk, Virginia for over 20 years. Doris is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Hill and her fianc, Christopher Fahrson both of Newark; five grandchildren, Joshua, Jamie, Terran, Caleb and Luke; niece, Kathy Wood; nephew, Ricky (Mary) Robinson. Doris was predeceased by her grandson, Eric Jacob Hill in 1995 and her sister, Grace Robinson in 1983.

Holtz, William F. - William F. Holtz, 61, of Lyons, died at home on Friday, July 13, 2001 after an extended illness. William was born in Lyons on September 23, 1939, a son to Edward and Ada Reynolds Holtz. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Lyons. Surviving are his daughter, Shannon (Jarrod) Crawford of Rochester; two brothers, Edward E. Holtz of Lyons and Charles E. Holtz of Lyons; sister, Neva M. (Roy) Backus of Phelps; good friend, Darlene Fletcher of Newark; two loving nieces, Mary Rapp of Webster and Lena Backus of Phelps; two great-nephews, Ryan and Evan Rapp; uncle, Lewis Reynolds of Junius; aunt, Marjorie Raczenski of Bath; and several cousins. Davis, Martha Jackson (Kraham) - Martha Jackson (Kraham) Davis, 64, of Pardee Smith Road, Newark died July 9, 2001 at her home. Martha was born February 16, 1937 in Newark to Herbert G. and Cecilia Bolles Jackson. A 1955 graduate of Newark High School, she obtained a degree in elementary education from the State University at Oneonta in 1959. Martha taught first grade at Williamson Elementary School for four years. In 1972, when her daughter entered kindergarten, she returned to teaching. She taught third grade at the Perkins and Kelley Elementary Schools in Newark, retiring this year. She is survived by her husband Dr. John M. Davis; son, Michael W. (Cristine) Kraham, Jr. of Newark; daughter, Cecilia (Frank Macarilla) Heath of Glenmont; three grandchildren, Whitney and James Kraham, and Rachel Heath; three step-children, Jane Periaky of Boise, Idaho, Craig Davis of Oakland, CA and Christopher Davis of Newark; two sisters, Sally Wilson of Hubbardston, MA and Mary Ellen Jackson of Wolcott; brother, Duncan (Judith) Jackson of Rochester and an aunt, Frances Bolles Stock, of Englewood, FL. She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert Jackson in 1979, mother Cecilia 'Bob' Jackson in 1995 and a brother, Herbert Jackson, Jr. in 1990. Interment in the East Newark Cemetery.

DeBoerdere, Eva - Eva Stella DeBoerdere, 70, of Newark, died July 4, 2001 at Via Health of Newark. Interment is in the Marion Cemetery. Eva was born to Frank and Cora Manders Ford on October 19, 1930 in Newark. She had worked at the A&P in Newark for 26 years as a cashier and clerk. She was a devoted wife and mother, enjoying all her free time with family. She also enjoyed gardening and shopping. Eva is survived by Raymond, her husband of 50 years; daughters, Linda (Paul) Hamelinck of Newark, Dawn (Scott) Foss and Colleen (Joseph) Noble, both of Lyons; son, Steven DeBoerdere; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley DeBoerdere of Florida and Dorothy Palmer of Newark; brothers, Frank (June) Ford, Jr. of Newark and Albert (Ruth) Ford of Macedon; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Carol Ford, in 2000 and brother, Richard Ford, in 1962.

Bush, Bernald - Bernald C. 'Bernie' Bush, 89, of Newark, died July 5, 2001 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Bernie was born April 25, 1912 in Cortland, to Clayton and Bertha Bush. A funeral director, he came to Newark in 1936. He ran his own funeral home on South Main Street for several years. For 17 years, he worked for C.H. Stuart, Inc. and had been president of the C.W. Stuart nursery business. Mr. Bush was founder and co-owner of Talent Search Placement Agency in Rochester. He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, a 57-year member of the Newark Lodge #83 F&AM. He sang bass with the Four Thorns Barbershop Quartet for many years. He was a member of the Newark Elks, Newark Country Club and Newark Lions Club. Interment in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Town of Lysander. Mr. Bush is survived by Ruth, his wife of 64 years; daughter, Carolyn (Thomas) Haber of Palm Coast, FL; two sons, James (Susan) of Macedon and William (Sara) of Palmyra; four grandchildren, Jeffery, Scott, Peter, and Emily Bush; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bush of Cortland.

Grosser, John - John Joseph Grosser, 22, of Palmyra and Rose, died, a drowning victim, on July 3, 2001. John was born July 28, 1978 in Rochester to Robert and Deborah Perri Grosser. He graduated from Palmyra-Macedon High School and worked as a construction laborer. He loved the outdoors, including fishing and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He was half Apache and proud of his heritage.John is survived by his mother, Deborah Grosser of Rose; father, Robert Grosser of Florida; brothers, Bobby, Daniel, Joshua and Raymond; sisters, Charity and Angel; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Annabelle Perri of Palmyra; nephew, Brandon; aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.

Chiodo, Wanda - Wanda Chiodo, of Marion, died July 5, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam, and grandson, Michael. She is survived by daughter, Micky (Gary) Morton of Marion; son, Fred Porteous; granddaughters, Paula, Amanda, Emily and Amber; loving friends and family.

He was a certified nurse assistant at the Wayne County Home. He was a 1976 graduate of Penn Yan Academy, and a member of the Fairville Fire Department. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Horton, Emily - Emily P. Horton, 64, of Phelps, died July 5, 2001 at the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic. Emily was born Feb. 1, 1937 in Phelps to Peter B. and Gertrude Ford DeLooze. She is survived by two daughters, Gliee (Brian) Gunsalus, and Joy Horton (Bill Davis), both of Phelps; grandson, Brian Gunsalus Jr.; brothers, Thomas (Mildred) DeLooze of Mississippi, Bernard James DeLooze of West Virginia and Willis A. (Doris) DeLooze of Ovid; sisters, Eleanor Brignall of Phelps, Virginia Roblin of Newark, Barbara (Robert) Bowman of Seneca Castle and Marjorie (Myrle) Record of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Ellis (Norma) Horton of Hamburg; and many nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her husband, Harry; granddaughter, Dianee; and two brothers, Edmund and Raymond DeLooze.

Branch, Shanon - Shanon G. Branch, 32, of Sodus died suddenly on July 7, 2001. He is survived by his son, Christopher, of Wolcott; parents, Augustine Branch of Oswego, and Bonnie (Doug Lockwood) Branch of Sodus; sister, Heidi (Ryan) Karpp of Marion; grandfather, Frances Fletcher of Saranac Lake; stepbrother, Douglas (Laura) Lockwood of Webster; stepsisters, Laurie (Terry) Graffius of Wolcott, Lynne Hogan and Dawn Lockwood, both of Sodus Point; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Anderson, Robert - Robert E. Anderson, 85, of Lyons, died July 5, 2001 at ViaHealth of Wayne. Bob was born June 13, 1916 in Mahaffey, PA to Elmer and Beulah Rowe Anderson. He retired from the New York Central Railroad with 40 years of service as a crane operator. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Lyons and a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Ways. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery. Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence Humbert Anderson; two daughters, Jean (Fisk) Hayden of Orlando, FL and Kathleen (Santo) DeSain of Lockport; son, Richard E. (Martha) of Webster; brother, Oscar of Newark; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Blankenberg, Charles - Charles A. Blankenberg, 57, of Newark, died July 4, 2001 at Myers ViaHealth. Chuck was born November 15, 1943 in Sodus to John E. and Nellie S. Vandenheuvel Blankenberg. He was a truck driver and a machinist at Gleason Works in Rochester, and had served in the Army from 1965-67. He was a loving father and grandfather, and had a zest for life. Interment in Fairville Cemetery. He is survived by his three sons, David (Lisa) of Newark, Charles Abram II of Wolcott, and Andrew Stephen (Sara) of Williamson; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia (Edward) Peters of Newark, Barbara (Jonathan) Moon of Newark, Diana (Rodney) Smith of Newark; eight brothers, Lewis (Viola) of Marion, David (Carolyn) of Newark, John E. of Lyons, Thomas A. (JoAnn) of Sodus, James E. of Newark, Gerald (Donna) of Lyons, Steven (Sara) of Newark, and Michael John of Newark; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in September 1996 by his brother, Larry J.

Deuel, Robert - Robert J. Deuel, 66, of Newark, died July 4, 2001 at the Newark ViaHealth. Mr. Deuel was born Feb. 23, 1935 in Palmyra, son of Harold and Agnes Simonse Deuel. Bob had worked for 45 years at Fold-Pak Corp., retiring in 2000. Interment in Newark Cemetery. He is survived by Shirley, his wife of 45 years; his daughter, Lisa (Gary) Dingman; sons, Brian (Margaret) and Kevin, all of Newark; three granddaughters; two step-grandsons; five sisters, Norma Blankenberg of Orange Park, FL, Eleanor Jacobs of Palmyra, Jo Ann (Gary) Lester of Lyons, Helen (Frank) Russell of Phelps, Sheri (John) McCarty of Spencer; nieces and nephews.

Williams, James III - James S. Williams III, died July 8, 2001. He was born May 20, 1957 in Clearwater, FL. He is survived by his mother, Joanne (Burm) Williams; sister, Stacy Cooper; two sons, James IV and Kenneth; uncle, Charles F. Burm of Newark; a niece and a nephew. His father died in December of 2000.

Orbaker, Howard - Howard 'Glenn' Orbaker, 83, died July 9, 2001. Glenn was born October 21, 1917 in Palmyra, to John and Carrie Orbaker. He was a member of the Arcadia Senior Citizens and the Newark VFW Post 2883. Glenn retired from Garlock Co. in 1980 after 40 years, working as a machine set-up man. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park in Perinton with full military honors. The funeral flew the Army flag in honor of his service to the U.S. from 1942-45. Glenn is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Doris Orbaker of Webster; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Richard Inguaggiato of Walworth; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Glenn was predeceased by his wife Mildred on January 5, 2001.

Cornell, Florence - Florence Cornell, 82, of Walworth, died July 1, 2001. Interment Marion Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Manley. She is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Arthur) Barr of Gates, Catharine (William) Donnelly of Newark, Lee (William) Huntley of Marion, Jan (Thomas) Callens of Sodus Point, Florence and Avery Munger of Malone; son, Manley (Pat) Cornell Jr.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother; two sisters; nieces and nephews.

Killips, Robert - Robert T. Killips Sr., 80, of Lyons died July 1, 2001 at ViaHealth of Newark. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Killips was born the son of Thomas and Mary Coon Killips on May 19, 1921 in Lyons. He was proprietor of the Credit Bureau of Newark. He was a member of the Elmwood Cemetery Board for eight years, past president of the Lyons Rotary, Grand Ruler of the Elks Lodge, and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Lyons. Mr. Killips is survived by his sons, Thomas (Deborah) Killips Jr. of Clifton Parks and Peter (Karen) Killips of Lyons; grandchildren, Rachel, Brian and Matthew; sister, Marian (John) Longyear of Maine; niece, Joan (Robert) Weurthner of Maine. He was predeceased by his wife, Nevada, Jan. 4, 1996.

Hookstra, Loretta - Loretta E. (VanHall) Hookstra, 62, of Sodus Point and Sun City, FL died July 2, 2001. A retiree from the Department of Transportation of Honeoye Falls/Lima School District, she was also a member of the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club, Cypress Greens Golf Club and Sodus Bay Historical Society. Interment in Lake View Cemetery, Pultneyville. She is survived by her husband, Gary M. Hookstra; daughter, Julie Hookstra of Rochester; sons, Gregory (Beth) Hookstra of VA, Eric (Janet) Hookstra of Honeoye Falls; grandchildren and friends.

Farabell, Eleanor - Eleanor J. (Curtis) Farabell, 53, of Wolcott, died peacefully July 4, 2001 surrounded by her family at the Pines of Peace Hospice Home in Ontario. Interment, Huron Evergreen Cemetery. She is survived by her loving, longtime companion Julio 'Freddy' Guevara of Wolcott; three children, Serena Condon of Williamson, Ron (Marrissa) Farabell II of Savannah, and Officer Heath Farabell of Palmyra; four granddaughters; four brothers, Larry and Danny Curtis, both of Wolcott, Terry Curtis of Rochester; and Randy Curtis of Lockport; sister, Penny Curtis of Perry; nieces and nephews.

Vankoevering, Elizabeth - Elizabeth Vankoevering, 94, of Newark, died July 3, 2001. She is survived by two grandsons, Lance Gardner of Newark and Stephen Gardner of VT; sister, Diana Jansen of Newark; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Marinus, and daughter, Audrey Gardner in 1993.
