Baldwin, Alexander - Alexander 'Bus' Baldwin, 87, formerly of Phelps, died June 30, 2003 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Bus was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Sayre, PA, the son of Gilbert and Pearl Hausnecht Baldwin. He managed convenience stores for Connie Cosgrove in Newark for many years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was living in Massachusetts to be near his family. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Baldwin of Greenfield, MA, and Kathy Baldwin of Homer, Alaska; brother, Thomas of Massachusetts; sister, Betty Bender of Massachusetts; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Ardy, in April 1995. Interment in South Lyons Cemetery.

DuBois, Robert - Robert M. DuBois of North Carolina/Florida/Rochester, died in North Carolina on June 29, 2003. Robert was the son of Abraham Ford and Helen Mae Sleight DuBois. He was born in Newark, where his father ran the Gazette. The family moved when Robert was a child, to Rochester, where his father started The DuBois Press. Robert DuBois attended Monroe High School, after which he spent two years at the University of Rochester. He transferred to Carnegie Institute of Technology to pursue a major in printing. There, he was awarded the Founders Scholarship for his work of outstanding distinction. He was elected to Phi Kappa Phi, National Scholastic Honorary Society, the highest honor a student could receive at Carnegie Tech. After graduation he joined his father's firm, where he ultimately became head of the company, selecting two associates to assist in the ever-expanding business. Subsequently the name changed to G.M. DuBois Corporation. He enjoyed stamp collecting and took pleasure in following the new styles and features of automobiles. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; daughter Elizabeth Anne Pierce; sons Richard E. and Robert S.; and three grandchildren. Interment, Fairville Cemetery.

Schultz, John - John M. Schultz, 31, of Palmyra, died June 29, 2003. John was born December 8, 1971 in Clifton Springs to Gerald and Cheryl Breen Schultz. He worked at Breen's IGA in Palmyra, was a graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School, and he was a computer enthusiast. John is survived by his parents, Cheryl Breen (Michael) Stratton of Palmyra and Gerald Schultz of Lindley; his brother, Peter (Laurie) Schultz of Atlanta, GA; grandparents, James and Beverly Breen, Sr. of Palmyra; a niece, Hailey Schultz and many aunts, uncles and cousins. John was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Kathleen Breen. Interment in St. Anne's Cemetery.

Van Hanegem, Bessie - Bessie Van Hanegem, formerly of Marion, died June 21, 2003 at the home of her daughter in Centerport, NY. She was 93. Born on May 4, 1910, she was the last of six children of Jacob and Jeriena (Wisse) Van Hall. After graduating from high school and Brockport Normal School, she left Marion for four years to teach in Cutchogue, on Long Island. Upon her return to Marion, she was the kindergarten teacher of hundreds of students, organ and piano teacher of scores of young musicians, and organist at the Second Reformed Church for over 30 years. In 1977 she moved permanently to Long Island. She is survived by her daughter, Jerene Weitman and husband Joshua; grandchildren Dodie Gillett, and Craig Gillett and his wife Heather; great-granddaughter, Naomi; sister Anna Eysvogel; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Josiah (Si).A graveside service and burial of ashes will take place in Marion at a later date.

Colacino, Eugene - Eugene 'Gene' G. Colacino, 66, died suddenly on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Gene was born in Newark, the son of Thomas J. and Irene Vincent Colacino on May 31, 1937. He graduated from Newark High School in 1955 and from LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He had served six years in the Army Reserves. Gene assumed ownership of Rose Bowl Lanes in Newark from his father in 1973 and retired in 1989. He was a member of St. Michael Church in Newark, Newark Elk Lodge, AVSO in Newark and the Palmyra Moose Lodge. Gene enjoyed working with children as a Little League assistant coach and coaching the basketball team for St. Michael School. He also worked with senior citizens and the disabled. Gene will be missed by his loving wife, Kenna Eick Colacino; sons Christian of Newark, Patrick of Canandaigua and Chad of Newark; brother, A. Thomas Colacino of Newark; sister, Margaret Colacino of Newark; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law; several nieces and a nephew. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

DeLeo, Mary - Mary L. DeLeo, 88, formerly of Lyons, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mary was born July 5, 1914 in Clyde, the daughter of Frank and Mary Pitzeruse Elmer. She was a hairdresser for Dey Brothers Department Store in Syracuse and also worked at L.C. Smith Typewriter Co. in Syracuse. She owned her own hairdressing shop in Clyde. She also operated Mary's Restaurant in Clyde. She was an avid bowler and cook, and was a member of St. John's Church. She is survived by three sons, John (Janet) DeLeo of Durango, Colo., Philip (Melani) DeLeo of Newark and Jason DeLeo.

Bullock, Jane - Jane A. Bullock, 81, of Lyons, died Monday, June 30, 2003, surrounded by her loving family at her residence. Mrs. Bullock was born on January 30, 1922 in Newark, the daughter of Jesse and Edna Vancott Maynard. Jane was personnel secretary for Parker Hannifin for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed golf, reading and volunteer work. She is survived by her son, Timothy (Brigette) of Lyons; daughters, Nancy DeMay of Baldwinsville; Cathy (Jake) Emmel of Lyons; four grandchildren, Jacob, Julie, Jeff Emmel and Mike Heimer, all of Lyons; her twin sister, Janice Colatarci of Lyons; dear friend B.J. Boynton of Baldwinsville and many dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth J. Bullock, February 13, 1982.

Lapomarda, Rosemarie - Rosemarie Lapomarda, 65, of Newark, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at her home in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Lapomarda was born on August 8, 1937 in Newark, the daughter of Domenico and Carmella Salatino Curcio. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Charlotte and a former member of St. Michael's Church in Newark. A registered nurse, she worked for Newark-Wayne Community Hospital before moving to North Carolina twenty-six years ago. In Charlotte, she worked at Mercy Hospital for several years and also several doctor's offices, retiring in 1992. She is survived by her husband, John A., two sons, Michael of Charlotte and John J. (Kathy) of Clinton, South Carolina; a daughter, Maria (Michael) Osbourne of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Christopher Owens, Hannah and John Michael Lapomarda, Jacob and William Osbourne; a sister, Connie (Michael) Chelenza of Newark and a brother, Antonio (Odessa) Curcio of Plano, Texas.

Timerson, Donald - Donald A. Timerson, 77, of Newark, died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. Timerson was born August 3, 1925, in Cato, NY, the son of Walter and Gladys Terpening Timerson. He was a member of the Arcadia Reformed Church. A graduate of Newark High School, Don joined the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific Theater. He had been a mechanic for Lewis Johnson Trucking in Port Gibson and retired in 1990 from Newark Central School District where he was superintendant of transportation for twenty years. In his retirement Don enjoyed volunteering, especially with the reading programs at the elementary schools. He is survived by two sons, Bradley (Cynthia) and Carlton (Patricia) of Newark; a daughter, Mary Sinicropi of Seneca Falls, eight grandchildren, Michael, Rebecca, Walter, Mary, Julia, Jack Timerson; James, Alex Sinicropi; a dear friend, Marion Reed of Canandaigua; two sisters, Jeannette (Bert) Bolin and Marion (Larry) Tickle of Plant City, Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, June 16, 1995.

Bunce, Susan - Susan Ann Maugiri Bunce, 56, died June 18, 2003 in Longview, Texas. Interment in Newark Cemetery. Susan was born June 4, 1947 in Newark, daughter of Anthony and Margaret Logosh Maugiri. Susan devoted over 30 years of her life as a teacher in the Newark School system to her students and their families. She served the community with her involvement in the Newark Teachers Association and St. Michael Church and School. She is remembered for her love of cooking and baking for friends and family, and her avid interest in bird watching. She was an inspiration to her family, because of her love and devotion to them. Susan became an inspiration to cancer patients from all walks of life, in her determined struggle over the past four years. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Bunce; beloved children, Thomas DeYulio and Katherine (Daniel) Winkler, of Newark, and Matthew, Mary Claire, and Kurt Bunce, of Pittsburgh; Jami Bunce of Denver; Rachael Bunce of Rochester; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Patricia Bunce of Rochester; brothers, Anthony (Carol) Maugiri of Texas, and Donald (Eleanor) Maugiri of Newark; grandson, Matthew Simon Bunce of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews: Christina, Michelle and Donald, Jr. Maugiri, all of Newark; Nicole and Shawn Steddum, and Melissa and William Brown of Texas; great-nephew, Dawson Anthony Brown of Texas; aunts, cousins, many special friends. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Diane and her parents, Anthony and Margaret.

Gizzi, Henry - Henry ('Hank') D. Gizzi, 81, of Richmond, Virginia, died June 22, 2003. He was born August 4, 1921, the second child of six to James and Filomena Gizzi of Geneva. He is survived by Doris, his wife of 53 years; their eight children: Deborah Lieber, Linda Whiteside, Henry J. Gizzi, Patricia Shepard, Mary Mark, Michael Gizzi, Sharon St. Clair, and Pamela Mercer; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernard and James, and sisters, Ann Marie Favreau and Joanne Combs. His sister, Charlene Addona, preceded him in death. In 1971, Henry retired as a manager from Western Union Telegraph Company after 31 years of service and moved his family to Richmond from Newark, to work for Sarah Coventry. Later, Philip Morris employed him for 10 years. Henry participated in Community Chest Drives (United Way) and fund-raising events including the Newark Hospital and St. Michael School and Church. He was a member of the Newark Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #286, where he held positions of Adjutant, Post Commander and County Commander. He managed American Legion baseball teams and worked with Cub and Boy Scouts of America organizations. He was a founding member and Chairman of the Finance Committee at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond. He was a cancer survivor of 19 years and spent his latter years helping friends and neighbors, particularly those in need of medical and moral support. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in England, France and Germany.

Anstee, Susan - Susan L. Anstee, 93, of Clyde, died June 18, 2003 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Susan was born December 18, 1909, in the Town of Galen, to Edwin and Hattie Ellinwood Luffman. She had been a lifelong resident of Clyde, and graduated from Clyde High School in 1927. She married her late husband, Leon Anstee, June 28, 1930, and for many years she helped her husband on the family farm. Susan spent spare time crocheting. She was a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women Gleaners Class and a member of the Galen Historical Society. She was an avid fan of Jim Boeheim and his Syracuse University basketball team. She was a member of the Clyde Rebekah Lodge #478 and the Clyde Grange. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Ed) Lootens of Newark and Anita (Paul) Dickinson of Rochester; three sons, Leon Lavern (Clare) Anstee of Milroy, PA, Richard (May) Anstee of Lombard, IL, and Donald (Pam) Anstee of Clyde; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Sozio, Thomas - Thomas Sozio, 55, of Clyde/Newark, died unexpectedly on June 18, 2003. Tom was born October 28, 1947 in Fairport to Savario and Antonette Sebastian Sozio. Tom and the former Beverly Wiltsie were married June 16, 1978 in the Port Gibson Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served with the 1st Calvary in Vietnam. A retiree of Xerox, Mr. Sozio was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #947 in Clyde, the Pioneer Club at Xerox and the ARO Amalgamated Workers Union. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters Desdra (Mike) Perry of Manchester and Melissa (Jeff) Blackmar of Atlanta; stepdaughter Tracy (Donald) Gary of Clyde; stepson Tom (Wende) Edwards of Clyde; his father Savario Sozio; brothers Tony (Maryann) Sozio of Webster and Fred (Carol Cante) Sozio of Fairport; seven grandchildren; special friends Mr. and Mrs. Ron Smay of Webster and Shirley and Bud VanDyke of Red Creek. Interment in the mausoleum at St. John's Cemetery. Military honors were accorded at the gravesite.

Petty, Arthur - Arthur R. Petty, 87, of Williamson, died June 19, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; children, Keith, Kevin, Kimberly, Arthur J., Dick, Bob, Carol and Don; many grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. He retired from Gleason Works after 41 years and was a retired real estate broker.

Pascucci, Kathleen - Kathleen R. Jenkins Pascucci, of Palmyra, died June 21, 2003. Kathleen was employed by North American Filter Corp. in Newark and was a member of the Abate Motorcycle Club and the Thomas Avenue Moose Club. She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Pascucci of Palmyra; daughter, Vanessa McConnell; stepson, Brady (Lisa) Aldrich; her parents, Vivian and Kathleen Jenkins; two sisters, Vivienne Shoemaker and Eloise Smith; two grandchildren, Jenna and Kolby; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Chad.

Nellis, Robert - Robert H. Nellis, 85, of Palmyra, died June 21, 2003 at Newark Manor. Bob was born July 11, 1917, in Lyons, to Raymond and Emma Schutt Nellis. He and Anna Marie Tellier were married Nov. 15, 1947, in Lyons. He was a retiree of Garlock after 29 years of service, and a life member of the James R. Hickey American Legion Post 120. He was also a charter member and the first post commander of the Lyons VFW Post 5092. Bob had devoted his time to those organizations for 58 years, in addition to serving as county commander of the American Legion. Mr. Nellis was a 40-year member of the Palmyra Fire Department. He belonged to the Garlock Old Timers Club and the Antiquity Club, and was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons. In honor of Bob's service to his country in the European Theatre during World War II, the Army flag was flown at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie; several nieces and nephews, special friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Interment with military honors in Palmyra Cemetery.

York, Jeannette - Jeannette Faas York, widow of Dr. Edwin W. York, has died in California in her 97th year. She was born in Schoondijke, the Netherlands on March 12, 1906, the day after her father Abrahm Faas embarked from Rotterdam for Ontario, NY. 'Jennie' delayed the immigration of her mother Jacobmina, brother Michael, and herself by at least six months. Once reunited, her childhood and school years were spent in the Newark vicinity. In 1927, 'Jane' met and married Dr. Edwin (son of Dr. George D. York and his wife Minnie) who had undertaken the training of nurses and development of a modern surgery to enhance his father's private-bed hospital on West Miller Street. The property eventually became St. Elizabeth's and is now known as 'Change of Seasons.' Dr. York suffered a fatal stroke early in 1931 and died when only 38 years old, with a young family. Mrs. York raised their three children alone and never remarried. At age 80 she earned an Associate of Arts degree. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary York Sanderson of Charlemont, MA and Jeannette York Merrilees of Laguna Beach, CA, and a son, Edwin George York of Milford, NJ. Mrs. York is survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Interment, Newark Cemetery.

Bartlett, Thomas - Thomas W. Bartlett, 48, of Wolcott, died June 13, 2003. He was a Vietnam Army veteran. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Bartlett; children, Kelly Bartlett of TX, Jessica Tibbetts of OK, Ryan Tibbetts of OK; one granddaughter; siblings, Richard (Ann-Marie) Bartlett of Wolcott, James R. (Pat) Bartlett of TX, Diane Bartlett of TX, Cindy (John) Pernell of TX, Myron D. (Claytha) Bartlett of TX, Thea (William) Sawyer of NC; nieces and nephews.

Fantauzzi Rodriguez, Esteban - Esteban Fantauzzi Rodriguez, 70, of Newark, died June 9, 2003. Esteban was born Feb. 20, 1933, in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, the son of Cayetano and Ernestina Rodriguez Fantauzzi. He worked as a bartender, and he did factory work in Chicago. He is survived by a sister, Amada Fantauzzi of Puerto Rico; sister-in-law, Miltholady Fantauzzi of Newark; one niece, Virgen Fantauzzi; one nephew, Samuel Fantauzzi; cousin, Rosario Fantauzzi, all of Newark; an aunt, Lioni Rodriguez of New Jersey; nieces, nephews and cousins in Puerto Rico. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

DeSalvatore, Tina - Tina DeSalvatore, 37, of Rochester/Newark, died June 12, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Tina was born October 8, 1965 in Pittsford, daughter of David DeSalvatore and Bessie Mahar. She worked for IEC Electronics in Newark and recently at Perkin Elmer in Phelps. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. She is survived by her friend and companion Charles Verstreate of Newark; son David Streber; daughters Kelly Streber and Amber Verstreate; mother Bessie Mahar of Newark; brother David (Sue) Proulx, Jr. of Rochester; sisters Christine (James) Perry of Newark; step-father David Proulx, Sr., many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Tina was predeceased by her father, David DeSalvatore. Interment at Lock Berlin Cemetery in the town of Galen.

Lannon, Lee - Lee E. Lannon, 63, of Newark, died June 9, 2003 at Rochester General Hospital. Lee was born June 25, 1939 in Clifton Springs, son of Leon and Mary Thompson Lannon. He graduated in 1957 from Clifton Springs High School. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clifton Springs. He owned and operated Lanlee Farms in Newark for 40 years, and for several years worked at Willowbend Farms in Clifton Springs. He was a past delegate to Upstate Farms and a member of numerous farm organizations. Lannon served as president of the Arcadia Hose Company and treasurer of the Newark Fire Department. He is a past chief of the East Palmyra Fire Department and member of the Wayne County Fire Chiefs Association. An avid Yankee fan, he enjoyed watching baseball and basketball and being with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Trickey Lannon; two sons, Lee Jr. (Amy) and Bob (Dawn); five grandchildren, Tim, Erica, Tommy, Matthew and Andrew, all of Newark.

Otto, David - David L. Otto, 69, of Palmyra, died May 29, 2003 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Dave is survived by his wife Marie; sons Ronald (Christine), James (Elizabeth) and Bruce; his grandchildren Amber, Lacie, Jimmy Jr., Nicholas and Brett; great-granddaughter Kaileah; sisters Josina Teeter and Dorothy (Al) Bisig; brothers Jack (Dorothy), Robert (Gail) Samuel Jr. (Nellie); nieces and nephews. He was retired carpenter from Local #85 in Rochester, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, member of Palmyra VFW Post 6778 as well as a member of Drumlin Square Lodge #1180 F.& A.M. Interment in White Haven Memorial Park.

Judson, June - June Ann Judson of Newark, died June 6, 2003. June was born June 18, 1940 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Edward and Mary Knapp. She was residing at the DeMay Living Center. June is survived by her mother, Mary Joyce Knapp of PA, one brother, several nieces, nephews and friends at DeMay Living Center. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Judson and her father Edward Knapp. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Bull, Edward - Edward J. Bull, 70, of Williamson, died March 28, 2003. Bull is a retired NY State Trooper. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, Thomas (Eileen) Bull of Williamsville; one granddaughter; five stepsons and step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Burnett, Annie - Annie K Burnett, 56, of Sodus, died June 7, 2003. She is survived by four daughters, Juanita (Anthony) Strickland of Florida, Deborah (Aaron) Peay of Newark, Carol Burnett of Rochester and Patricia Burnett of Sodus; seven grandchildren; companion, Vincent Dawkins; sisters, Eula Welborn of Lyons and Bessie Jones of Sodus; brother, James Davis of Lyons; brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment will be in the Brown Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Georgia.

Moore, Edward - Edward M. Moore, 81, of Marion, died June 3, 2003. He is survived by daughters, Michele (Robert) Messenger of Palmyra and Jannette (Mark) Stappenbeck of Marion; grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany and Gabrielle. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah. He was a WWII veteran, Superintendent of the Marion Highway Department, member of Marion American Legion Post #1430.

Withey, Robert - Robert W. Withey Sr., 75, of Palmyra, died June 10, 2003. He was retired from Garlock Packing Co. He is survived by his children, Robert (Janet) W. Withey Jr.; Katherine L. Withey; Ralph J. Withey; Rosemary M. Withey; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Marion 'Red' Withey, Ralph Withey Sr., Ted Withey; nieces and nephews. Interment in Palmyra Cemetery.

Zonneville, Cornelius Jr. - Cornelius A. Zonneville, Jr., of Newark, died June 1, 2003. Cornelius is survived by his wife Frances; his children; Nancy (Don) Vanden Bout of Webster, Janet (Reg) Angelo of Marion, Kathy (Hugh) Van Staalduinen of Marion, and Robert (Deb) Zonneville of Newark; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law Betty Corteville and Gladys Ryckbost, both of Newark; many nieces and nephews. He was a life member of the East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church. Interment in East Palmyra Cemetery.

Spiegel, Gerard J. - Gerard Joseph 'Chops' Spiegel, of Lyons/North Rose and formerly of Rochester, died suddenly on May 31, 2003 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He was there visiting his son and family. Jerry was born to the late Charles and Martha Lambert Spiegel in Rochester and was a graduate of Aquinas Institute. He received his BA from Assumption College in Canada and a MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business. Jerry retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986, where he worked in Market Research Analysis. He was in the Navy during the Korean War. Jerry was a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark, Genesee Country and Wayne County Antique Dealers Associations. He was a partner of Antiques Unlimited in Canandaigua. Bonnie was born in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Willard and Virginia Coons; she lived in the area all of her life. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Robert Clapton; three daughters, Brenda (Steve) Tillman of Waterloo, Rebecca (Leon) Baker of Matthews, NC, and Bobbie Jo (Ron) Butler of Geneva; two sisters, Sheryll (James) Boardman of Clifton Springs and Linda Middlebrook of Newark; three brothers, Charles Coons of Canandaigua, Rickey (Chris) Coons of Stanley and Phil (Denise) Coons of Williamsburg, VA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Virginia and Willard Coons; and sister, Nancy Phinney. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.

LaGasse, Winifred - Winifred LaGasse, 88, of Lyons died May 28, 2003 at Newark Hospital. Winifred was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Lyons, to Albert and Flora Stell Bade. As a lifelong area resident, she was employed by the Lyons Central School as a secretary, the Village of Lyons as a bookkeeper and secretary, Wayne County Nursing Home in medical records, and retired in 1976 from Wayne County Social Services as a secretary. She was a member of the Wayne County Historical Society and the Society of Early American Decoration. She is survived by her son, Daniel (Sue) LaGasse of Lyons; daughter, Mary Tatem of Bermuda; granddaughter, Leah (Derek) Hamilton of Marion; two great-grandchildren; brother William Bade of Newark; sister-in-law, Helen Bade of FL; two nieces, one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford, in 1987; two sisters, Marian Brower and Marjorie Palmeter; and two brothers, Lester and Gordon. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery.

Coulombe, Raoul - Raoul J. 'Lu' Coulombe, 78, of Sodus died June 1, 2003. Lu was born in Maine, grew up in Hartford, CT, served as a Navy Medical Corpsman, assigned to G Co., 2nd Battalion, 23rd Regiment of the 4th Marine Division in WWII. A Marine at heart, he was 'Doc' to the buddies he served with in the South Pacific. Lu and Jean moved to Sodus in 1950. He worked as an auto body repairman, earned his teaching certification and was a BOCES instructor from 1969-1985. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years, a CB radio operator and a skilled woodworker. He belonged to Sodus VFW Post #7171 and several Marine Veterans organizations. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Mac Donald) Coulombe; three sons, James (Jerilea) Coulombe, Douglas Coulombe, and Raymond (Karen) Coulombe, all of Sodus; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister in Connecticut, nieces, nephews; and cousins.

Mc Kee, Walter - Walter C. Mc Kee, 67, of Palmyra/Marion, died May 29, 2003. He was a past member of the Marion American Legion. He is survived by his loving companion, Beverly Legg and family of Ohio; his mother, Cora Schintzler of Palmyra; daughter, Sandy McKee of Newark; sons, Michael of Palmyra, Chet and Bill, both of Lyons; step-daughter, Kelly Carter; grandchildren Rachel, Camdon, Caleb and Gabriel. He was predeceased by his father, Chester. Interment, Marion Cemetery.

Neal, Hazel - Hazel Neal, 74, of Lyons, died June 3, 2003 at the DeMay Living Center. Hazel was born December 17, 1928 and had lived for 14 years with the Linda Hall family in Palmyra. She also lived with the Donna Jones family of Lyons. She attended the ARC workshop. She is survived by her brother, Herbert Neal of DeRuyter. Interment is in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Cauwels, Susie - Susie Cauwels, 88, died May 21, 2003 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Sue was born the daughter of the late Isaac and Cornelia (Karls) DeMeyers on September 24, 1914 in Sodus. She had worked for Sarah Coventry for many years. Mrs. Cauwels was a member of Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. Sue will be missed by her son Ronald Cauwels of Clifton Springs; daughters Delores (Richard) Siler of Newark, JoAnn (Charles) Tangee of Texas; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Pitts of Florida and Andrea (Frances) Gifford of Newark; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cauwels was predeceased by her husband Cornelius Cauwels on August 16, 1967 and daughter Shirley Adams on October 21, 2001. Interment, Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Rice, Wanda - Wanda P. Rice, 89, died May 3, 2003. Mrs. Rice was born on November 8, 1913 in Wolcott, the daughter of Frank and Matilda Spade Pitts. Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church. Interment, East Newark Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Laurence Rice, brothers and sisters-in-laws Stanley (Doris) Rice, Kenneth (Joan) Rice all of Newark, and Doris Rice of Florida, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Genevieve Douglass, and four brothers: Orion, Albert, Fay, and Donald Pitts.

VanHoute, Winifred - Winifred J. VanHoute, 75, of Sodus Point, died May 22, 2003. She was predeceased by her husbands, Wilfred Rodas and Norman VanHoute, and daughter, Sandra Woodhams. She is survived by her nine children: Richard (Carol) Rodas of Penn Yan, Donald Rodas, Linda Robar, William (Kim) Rodas, and Larry (Teresa) Rodas, all of Clyde; Wilfred Jr. (Shirley) Rodas of Southhaven, MS, Pamela (Clifford) Baldwin, of Central City, SC, Judy (John) Rudduck of Sodus Point, and Roxanne (Jerry) Huerta, of Eastley, SC; 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Williams of Olean and sister Helen Williams, of Jamestown.

Carlson, Ralph - Ralph Carlson, Jr., 74, died May 27, 2003. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion in Palmyra, American Veterans Support Organization of Newark, and Drumlin Square Lodge of Palmyra. He was retired from the machine shop of Garlock Packing in Palmyra. He is survived by his wife Annabel, son Russell (Sandra) of Newark, daugher Charlotte (Duane) Parkhurst of Texas; brother Harold 'Squeak' Carlson of Newark; granddaughter Heather (Chris) Harger of Texas and one great-grandson; grandsons Kevin and Jared Carlson of Newark; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Mary Carlson. Interment will be in Palmyra Cemetery.

Reinwald, Grace - Grace M. Reinwald of Palmyra, died May 22, 2003. She is survived by sons Ronald (Diane) Reinwald and Gary Reinwald; good friend Pat Wolf; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends at Salzburg Village in Palmyra. She was predeceased by her husband Harold and by her mother, Florence Poppele.

Walter, Helen - Helen C. Walter, 103, formerly of Lyons, died May 27, 2003 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Helen was born April 6, 1900, in Lyons, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Emmel Walter. She was a life resident of Lyons and took care of children in her earlier years. She was a 20-year member of the Arcadia Reformed Church of Newark. She was in the Restorium Adult Care Home in Lyons before moving to Wayne County Nursing Home. She is survived by the Dorothy DeMay family of Newark; and her friends at the Nursing Home and at Arcadia Reformed Church in Newark. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons.

Smith, Mable - Mable Nichols Smith, 85, of Port Gibson, died May 25, 2003 in Westminster, Texas. Mable was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Victor, daughter of John and Nellie Nichols. Mable and her husband, Edward Smith, moved eight years ago to Texas, to live with their daughter, Sally. Edward Smith died in April 1998. Mable is survived by a daughter, Sally (Charlie) Brighan of Westminster, TX; a son, Harry (Dianna) Smith of Port Gibson; a sister, Ruth (Robert) McMahan of Orlando, FL; five brothers: Lester Nichols of Rushville, Albert (Natalaid) Nichols of Gorham, Ray (Jane) Nichols of Bloomfield, Earl (Betty) Nichols of Lyons, and Don Nichols of New York; two grandsons, Harvey (Debbie) Fleming of Palmyra and Todd Fleming; and two step-granddaughters.

Boardman, Bill - William Myron Boardman, Sr., 60, of Clifton Springs, died May 27, 2003. Bill passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 10, 1942, in Clifton Springs, to Dorothy E. (Fox) and the late Myron R. Boardman. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Long Beach, was a police officer in Clifton Springs for many years, and worked at Xerox for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clifton Springs, Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, and Moose Lodge 1420 of Palmyra. He enjoyed working police duty, riding his motorcycle, watching TV game shows, spending time with his grandchildren, and socializing with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ponciana (Sabellona), and his mother Dorothy, both of Clifton Springs; children, Traci (John D.) Wihlen of West Henrietta, Wendy (Ron) Mott, Jr. of Newark, and William (Donna) Boardman, Jr. of Red Creek; adoring grandchildren, J. Matthew and Deanna Wihlen, and Ashley and Ryan Mott; sisters, Gail (Walter) Cummings, Jr. of Clifton Springs, and Nancy Turner of Phelps; brother, James (Sheryl) Boardman of Clifton Springs; nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many caring friends. Strong, Susan - Susan E. Strong, 58, of Newark, died May 17, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. Sue was born May 12, 1945 in Rochester, daughter of Archie and Virginia Jockley Tucker. She graduated from Greece Olympia High School in 1963. She attended Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College. She worked for Newark Community Hospital as a phlebotomist. She loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hiking, camping and swimming. She is survived by her children, Eric and Cheryl Strong, both of Brockport; parents Archie and Virginia Tucker of Naples; brother, David (Helen) Tucker of Marcellus; special friend, Robert Everdyke of Newark; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Vanderlinde, Irene - Irene Estelle Vanderlinde, 71, of Lyons, died May 15, 2003 at Wayne County Nursing Home after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She loved flowers and gardening. She retired from the Wayne County Nursing Home in 1997. She is survived by her husband Martin 'Toby' Vanderlinde; son, Richard (Kristine) Vanderlinde of Lyons; daughters, Sheryl Nesbitt of Palmyra, and Patricia (James) Caudill of Rose; daughter-in-law Penny Vanderlinde of Lyons; grandchildren and four great-granddaughters; sister, Carol Ford of Clifton Springs; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Anstee, Carl - Carl W. Anstee, 50, of Clifton Springs, died unexpectedly May 15, 2003 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic. He was born August 8, 1952, in Ford Dix, NJ, the son of Eugene and Eleanor Austin Anstee. He was a sales manager for Santelli Lumber Co. in Palmyra. Prior to working for Santelli Lumber, Carl worked for Ferrara Lumber Co. He enjoyed all sports, was an avid bowler and golfer, a great New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, and also played men's softball in many of the area leagues. Graham, Lois - Lois R. Graham, 75, died May 18, 2003 in Wayne County Nursing Home. Tewell, Rintha - Rintha C. Tewell, 98, died May 17, 2003 in Wayne County Nursing Home. Rintha was born August 29, 1904, in Piney Grove, MD, the daughter of McKibbon and Eliza Smith Shipley. She was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Lapp of Ohio, Betty (Floyd) DuBois of North Carolina and Erma (Emerson) Yonker of Wolcott; son, William Tewell of Syracuse; one sister, Mabel Boor of Lyons; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Johnson, James - James J. Johnson, entered into rest May 21, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a long battle with leukemia. He was born August 28, 1962. James volunteered at Newark-Wayne Hospital, 'Dare To Care' & he belonged to the Friendship Club. Parker, Napoleon - Napoleon Parker, 70, went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2003. McIntyre, Irvin Jr. - Irvin Collin McIntyre, Jr., 63, of Newark/Fairville, died suddenly May 7, 2003 at Newark Hospital. Irvin was born to Irvin and Bertha King McIntyre on March 22, 1940 in Rochester. He was a graduate of Pavilion High School. Irvin retired from IEC Electronics in Newark in 2001, after working there 26 years as a truck driver. He was a member of the IEC President's Club. He received numerous Safety Driving Awards from DeCarolis Trucking. He was a member of the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. He enjoyed camping, seeing crops grow, car racing and animals. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Pullen McIntyre; son John McIntyre of Newark; daughter Carol (Michael) Fleischman of Naples; mother Bertha King McIntyre of Florida; sister Sally (Ted) Schmidt of Florida; brothers-in-law Dan (Kim) Pullen and Ron Pullen (friend Jamie) all of Newark; nephews, nieces. Schraffenberger, Harold - Harold L. Schraffenberger, 92, of Newark, died May 11, 2003 at Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Harold was born June 19, 1910 in Lyons to George and Shalom Hadley Schraffenberger. Harold retired from the Newark State School in 1972. He was a member of the Western Presbyterian Church in Palmyra. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, roses, hunting, fishing. He is survived by his son Harold G. (Laurie) Schraffenberger of Palmyra; daughters Eleanor (William) Rogers of East Greenbush, and Doris (Fred) Cornwell of Newark; six granddaughters, five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Schaffenberger was predeceased by his wife Johana DeWispelaere on May 26, 1984. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Cassano, Michael - Michael A. Cassano, 83, died May 9, 2003 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Michael was born October 16, 1918, in Naples, Italy, the son of the Joseph and Angela Rose Scuotto Cassano. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Forces. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his sister, Ann (Frank) Monaco of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.

Cosgrove, Agnes - Agnes Cosgrove, 95, died May 9, 2003 at the DeMay Living Center. Agnes was born March 17, 1908 in Ireland. A graveside service was held in Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons. She is survived by the Diane DeSain family of Lyons and Newark.

Pearson, Patricia - Patricia Ann Pearson, 66, of Newark, died May 11, 2003 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Pat was born Nov. 17, 1936, in Newark, the daughter of Alfred and Helen Hutchinson Pulver. She had worked for AT&T as an operator, and was co-owner of the Montgomery Ward store in Newark. She also worked for McDonald's and the Salvation Army. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her children, Cindi (Rick Carney) Blankenberg of Clifton Springs, Richard (Lisa) Pearson of Newark and Kathy (Chris Mitek) Marvel of Georgia; five grandchildren, Nicole (Todd) Young, Courtney Blankenburg, Chelsea and Anna Pearson, and Dylan Robert Mitek; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Kodi and Dallas Young, and Damion Carney and two nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Pulver. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Grant, Eldon - Eldon D. Grant, 80, of Newark, died May 12, 2003. Eldon was born September 1, 1922 in Troupsburg, the son of Winfred and Stella Grant. He served in the Army during WWII and a tour of duty in the Korean War. Eldon was a life member of the Newark VFW. He was employed at the Newark Developmental Center in Newark for 35 Years retiring as a laundry supervisor in 1977. Eldon and Edna celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2003. Eldon was predeceased by an infant son and daughter, and by brother Oliver Grant and sister Evelyn Grant Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Edna (Reynolds) Grant; one sister Gene Oosterling of Newark; one brother Stanley (Eleanor) Grant of Lyons; several cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Interment in the Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Schulmerich, Bernard Jr. - Bernard 'Bernie' Schulmerich, Jr., 26, died April 26, 2003 in California. Soule, Richard - Richard V. Soule, 88, of Palmyra, died May 8, 2003 at Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. Dick was born May 9, 1914, in Newbridge, son of Frank and Emma Clausen Soule. He married the former Mavis A. Shippee on April 8, 1942, in Camillus. He owned and operated Soule Dairy Farm. He is survived by his wife, Mavis; daughters, Christina Trombley of Marion and Patricia Soule of Henrietta; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Clausen, Frank and John Edgar, and sisters Winifred, Lillian and Beatrice. Interment in Gouverneur.

Foote, Hibbard - Hibbard Foote, 77, of Cobblestone Terrace, Newark, died May 8, 2003 at Newark Hospital. Hibbard was born January 1, 1926 to the late James and Anna Dayles Foote in Rochester. He enjoyed music. A graveside service was held at the Grove Place Cemetery in Chili. He is survived by his sisters, Beatrice (George) Mandery and Thelma Losey, both of Florida; nieces and nephews; friends at the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Office. He was predeceased by one sister, Olive Hurry; and three brothers, James, Clifford and George Foote.

Munn, Sumner - Sumner T. Munn, 77, of Arkport/Newark, died May 7, 2003. Born in Geneva, July 29, 1925, a son of Gordon and Mary McMahon Munn, he was a resident of Newark, prior to moving to the Arkport area around 1968. He was a graduate of Newark High School and had been employed as an electronics teacher and engineer for the distance-learning program for the Steuben-Allegany BOCES. He had served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-46 and fought in the Pacific Theatre of War. He was a member of the Hornell Model Trains Club and the Alfred Almond Bible Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Cook Munn; one daughter, Connie (Joseph) Chausse of Monroe, NC; two sons, Christopher (Deborah) Munn of Canastota and Randolph (Marcy) Munn of Hornell; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Richard) Wideman of Georgia; brother, Vaughn Munn of Alaska. He was predeceased in 1980 by his son, Douglas Munn.

Ingison, Kenneth - Kenneth M. Ingison, 96, of Williamson/Clifton Springs, died May 6, 2003 at Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus. Kenneth was born Oct. 14, 1906, in Sodus, to George and Wilhemina Mullie Ingison. He graduated from Sodus High School in June 1924; he graduated in 1929 from the University of Rochester with an AB degree. He married Dorothea VanEenwyk in September 1930; she died in April 1988. He worked with the Revenue Accounting Center of the New York Telephone Co. until 1935, when he became sales manager and secretary on the board of the Fruit Belt Preserving Co. of East Williamson; he retired in December 1971. He was a life member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Sodus, a 70-year member of the Sodus Masonic Lodge F&AM 392, a 50-year member and past president of the Williamson Rotary Club, past Republican Town Chairman of Williamson, past president of the United Way of Williamson, past member of the board of directors of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, past member of the Board of Visitors of Newark State School. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery in Pultneyville. He is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Dailey, Evelyn - Evelyn (Seymour) Daily, 84 of Marion died May 11, 2003. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williamson. She is survived by her daughters, Gail (Oscar) Mojica of Newark, Rita (Noel) Kessler of Macedon, Debbie (Natividad) Cruz of Beaver Dam, NY; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Dailey and a son, Robert Teeter. Interment in Ridge Chapel Cemetery, Williamson.

Guthrie, Eleanor - Eleanor Missy Guthrie, 34, of Clyde, died May 13, 2003 at her home. Missy was born Feb. 3, 1969, in Newark, to William and Eleanor Soucie David. She had worked at Eldre Co. in Rochester in quality control and for Newcut, Inc. in Newark. She is survived by her husband, Arnold Lee; her daughter, Jessica Guthrie of Clyde; her mother, Eleanor David of Clyde; her father, William David of Rochester; three brothers, William David of Rochester, and Darryl and James David of Clyde; a sister, Edith Webber of Lyons; and nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Butler-Savannah Cemetery.

Armstrong, William - William. A. Armstrong, 64, of Wolcott, died May 7, 2003 at Newark Hospital. Bill was born February 23, 1939, the son of the late Clarence Armstrong and Thelma Williams Armstrong. He is survived by cousins, Joyce (Achiel) Vandewinckel and Nancy Doolittle Reynolds; and an aunt and uncle, Olive and Donald VanLiere. Bill had a great interest in history and genealogy, devoting much time and effort to collecting and recording historical items and information. He served as Wolcott Town Historian for many years. Finewood, Shirley - Shirley Finewood, 80, of Newark, died May 4, 2003 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Shirley was born January 19, 1923 in Newark, daughter of Terry and Dorothy Kampnick Garlock. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and an active member of the Newark Elks Lodge Auxiliary. She was a member of the Col. William Prescott Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She volunteered at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, donating over 2000 hours of service. She is survived by her daughter Susanne J. Finewood of Ontario; three sons, James (Diana) of Crestwood, KY; Terry Mark (Floor) of Matthews, NC; Stephen (Jill) of Newark; seven grandchildren. She was predeceased in 1967 by her husband Howard E. and in 1983 by her brother, Donald W.Garlock. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Baker, Virginia - Virginia Baker, 81, of Newark, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at ViaHealth, Newark Campus. Mrs. Baker was born February 2, 1922 in Newark, to Phillip and Clara DeRoo Vrelynk. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Virginia was a member of the Marbletown Fire Department Auxiliary, August Mauer Post American Legion Auxiliary. She also spent many hours volunteering at the Newark Manor Nursing Home and with R.S.V.P., Virginia enjoyed her quilting. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Baker or Daytona Beach, FL; twin sons, Robert (Mary) of Murfeeboro, TN and Russ (Elissa) of Horseheads; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and a sister, Louise Clifford Galusha of Newark. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Clarence F. Baker in 1994. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

Hermanet, Jennie - Jennie Hermanet, 106, of Marion, died May 4, 2003. She was a resident of the DeMay Living Center. She is survived by her son, Ivan (Gale) Hermanet of Fairport, Robert Hermanet of Ithaca, and a great-grandson, Jonathan.

Graham, Maurice - Maurice Graham, 70, of Newark, died May 4, 2003 at Via Health of Wayne, Newark Campus. Maurice was born in Sherburne on May 1, 1933, the son of Jack and Gladys Graham. He had served with the U.S. Army and worked 43 years at Fold-Pak, where he was a machinist; he retired in 1995. He is survived by a son Dale (Tracy) of Sturgis, SD; two daughters - Robin Kidder (Rich Soggs) of Newark, Dixie Glenn of Auburn; ex-wife, Shirley Siler of Newark; longtime friend Yvonne Norris of Newark; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Grace and brother Harald Graham of Sherburne; nieces and nephews. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Rice, Wanda - Wanda P. Rice, 89, of Newark, died May 3, 2003 at Via Health of Wayne, Newark Campus. Wanda was born on November 8, 1913 in Wolcott, the daughter of Frank and Matilda Spade Pitts. Wanda was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Laurence Rice; brothers and sisters-in-laws Stanley (Doris) Rice, Kenneth (Joan) Rice all of Newark, and Doris Rice of Florida; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Manktelow, Stanley - Stanley Manktelow, 91, of Williamson, died May 2, 2003. Survived by his loving family, sisters, Dorothy Manktelow of Williamson, Una Pembroke of Fairport; brother, Burt (Ruby) Manktelow of Ontario; sister-in-law, Arlene Manktelow of Marion; nieces and nephews. He was a retired farmer.

Brower, Charles - Charles Eugene (Gene) Brower, 72, of Williamson, died April 30, 2003. A lifelong resident of Williamson, he graduated from Williamson Central School and Rochester Business Institute. He was a first lieutenant & flight instructor in the U:S.A.F. during WWII. Owned and operated the Williamson Lumber Co until his retirement in 1981. He was a lifetime member of the Williamson Methodist Church, Pultneyville Masonic Lodge, and Williamson American Legion. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles S. & Bessie (Johnson) Brower. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Robert) LaFond of Superior Wisconsin; sons Peter (Lisa) Brower of Williamson, Christopher Brower of Brighton; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bush, Harold - Harold E. Bush, 87, of Marion, and Englewood, FL, died May 4, 2003. Mr. Bush was a past president of the First National Bank of Marion. He graduated from the University of Rochester in 1938 and received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Mr. Bush was a veteran of WWII, past president of the Marion Rotary Club, a member of the Marion Masonic Lodge, past Commodore of the Sodus Bay Yacht Club, member of the American Legion and United Church of Marion. He is survived by daughter, Nancy (Donald) Foster of Upper Montclair, NJ; son, Richard (Linda) Bush of Marion; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Louise (James) Dumary. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Stroup Bush; sister, Florence Cooper; brother, Sanford Bush.

Montana, Willis - Willis H. Montana, 91, of Wolcott, died February 28, 2003 in the Wayne County Nursing Home. Willis was a World War II veteran. He was also a dairy farmer all of his life in Wolcott, and loved animals. He is survived by two brothers, Harold (Carolyn) of Newark and Kenneth of Louisville, KY; nieces and nephews, Bruce Montana of Watkins Glen, Yvonne (Jeff) Schott of Canandaigua, Lois (Frank) Owens of Arkport, Sally (David) Gerling of Henrietta, Richard (Corrine) Walker of Florida, Dennis (Marlene) Montana of Kentucky. He was predeceased by his parents, Orrie and Josephine; brother Everett and his sister, Mildred Walker.

Wilder, William - William R.Wilder, 77, of Marion, died May 6, 2003. He was predeceased by his son, Robert; brother, Merton. Carpenter, Ruth - Ruth J. Carpenter, 83, of Palmyra, died May 5, 2003. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie Carpenter. She is survived by, her dear friends, Marc and Maria Carrier and their two sons.

Ingison, Kenneth - Kenneth M. Ingison, 96, of Williamson, died May 6, 2003 at Blossom View Nursing Home, Sodus. Kenneth was born in Sodus, October 14, 1906, the son of the late George and Wilhemina (Mullie) Ingison. He graduated from Sodus High School in 1924, and from the University of Rochester in 1929. Cuddeback, Mildred - Mildred P. Cuddeback, 95, of Newark, died April 25, 2003 at the Pines of Peace in Ontario. Mildred was born July 29, 1907, in Lyons, the daughter of Frederick and Caroline Metz Warren. She worked for Dr. Simpson in Lyons as an office secretary. She lived for 46 years in Lexington, MA and returned to Newark where she lived for 22 years. She was a member of the Wayne County Historical Society, the Sodus Bay Historical Society and the Wayne County Humane Society. Mildred survived the Lyons school fire at the age of 13 in 1920 and was a graduate of the Lyons Union School, Class of 1925. She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Cuddeback of Sodus Point; Zillah Lothrop of Tucson, AZ; two grandchildren, one great-grandson and one cousin. She was predeceased in 1985 by her husband, Samuel. Interment, South Lyons Cemetery.

Williams, Alice - Alice M. Williams, 90, of Newark, died April 25, 2003 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Alice was born August 5, 1912, in Williamson, to Edmond and Celestine Johnson Calus. She worked for the Garlock Co., for Jackson & Perkins and for the C.H. Stuart Co. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Verkey and son, Gary Williams, both of Newark; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in June 1974. Interment in East Newark Cemetery.

Schinsing, George - George L. Schinsing, 77, of Lyons, died April 25, 2003 at Newark Hospital. George was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Palmyra, to Charles and Mildred Carpenter Schinsing. He worked at C.H. Stuart Nursery for many years. He retired in 1988 from the Newark-Wayne Hospital, where he worked in the housekeeping department for 17 years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty; a sister, Betty DeFisher of Sodus; and two brothers, Vincent of Canandaigua and James of Wolcott. Interment in Newark Cemetery.

DeMuth, Theodore - Theodore DeMuth, 80, of Marion, died April 27, 2003. He was a WWII Veteran, member of the Edison Islanders Retiree Club and a member of the Nassau Committee for Camping. He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 59 years; daughters, Suzanne (Thomas) Myers of Niskayuna, and Donna (Joseph) Johnson of Marion; five grandchildren; sister Anita Reasoner of California; nieces and nephews.

DiGiovanni, Michael - Micheal DiGiovanni, 82, of Sodus, died at Blossom View Nursing Home. He leaves behind a half-sister, Patricia Hay of Rochester and a half-brother, Joseph Fricano of Webster. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.

Logue, Christine - Christine M. (Nichols) Logue, 82, of Marion, died April 23, 2003. She was retired from Mobil Chemical. Myers, Edna - Edna Sarah Myers, 93, of Florida, died April 25, 2003 in Florida. Edna was born November 8, 1909, in Greenport, to William and Blanche Carl Howling. She had worked in sales for Hallmark Cards in Kansas. She had lived in Hudson Falls, Washington County; and in Kansas and Florida. She is survived by her granddaughters, Deanne Lee Stratton of Clifton Springs and Tammy Sue Dixon of Michigan. She was predeceased in 1968 by her husband, Leon; and by her son, David in 1971. Rosenthal, Patricia - Patricia 'Pat' L. Rosenthal, 71, of Clifton Springs, died April 21, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Florida. Patricia was born March 10, 1932, the daughter of LaVerne and Dorothy Milliman Waterman. She grew up in Geneva and graduated from Geneva High School, Class of 1950. Pat worked at Sarah Coventry and IEC in Newark before retiring in 1994. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Geneva, and First Baptist Church of Clifton Springs. She loved reading, music and her family. She is survived by her children, Douglas L. Carlson of Newark, Daniel L. (Joanne) Carlson of Bloomfield, Chip Rosenthal of Georgia and Jan A (John) Frederick of Clifton Springs; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands, Douglas L. Carlson, Sr. and Earl A. Rosenthal, Sr., by one granddaughter and one great-grandaughter.

Raguso, Samuel - Samuel F. Raguso, 79, of Lyons, died April 26, 2003. Sam was born May 7,1923, in Lyons, son to James and Rose Potero Raguso. He retired from Caves Lumber in Newark and was a veteran of the Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He is survived by his nephews, Ronald, Gerard, Richard, Mark and Michael Santelli; nieces, Judy Williams-Trombino, Karen Schwab, Mary Heidenreich and Marcia Santelli-Hoad; grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite; son, James; brother, Leonard; sisters, Mary Williams and Edith Salerno; and nephew, Patrick Buttaccio. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery.

Pittman, Donald - Donald M. Pittman, 81, of Lyons, died April 28, 2003. Donald served during World War II in the Army Air Corps, and retired from Rochester Gas & Electric. He was a member of the United Third Methodist Church of Sodus, Sodus Rotary Club, Sodus American Legion and the United States Power Squadron. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hermina Young Pittman; loving daughters, Kathleen (Wayne) Keller of Phelps and Norma (Gerald) Ayer of Shortsville; two granddaughters, one great-grandson, and dear family and friends. Bussani, Tracy Fenyn - Tracy L. Fenyn Bussani, 40, of Newark and Fairport, died April 18, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Tracy was born January 28, 1963 in Newark, daughter of Adrian and Mary Jo Severson Fenyn. She graduated from Newark High School in 1981, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the State University College at Geneseo and her education degree from Nazareth College. She had cystic fibrosis which never kept her down. She received a double lung transplant in March 1996. Her bravery and determination were an inspiration to all her family and friends. She showed how to appreciate the good days, and never give up. Tracy had been a cheerleading coach in Newark and Victor, and a real estate agent. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Gianni Bussani; her children, Alexander and Gabriella of Fairport; her parents, Adrian 'Ed' and Mary Jo Fenyn of Newark; her sister, Valorie Fenyn of Tempe, AZ; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and special friend, Janette Layton of Australia. She was predeceased in 1996 by her brother, Brent. Interment is in Newark Cemetery.

Wenban, Frederick - Frederick William 'Fred' Wenban, 90, died April 20, 2003 at Newark Hospital. Frederick was born October 10, 1912 in Newark, son of Frederick and Mary Stansell Wenban. He was a direct descendent of the first settlers in Wayne County. He was a WWII veteran, member of First United Methodist Church in Newark, Newark Masonic Lodge No. 83, F&AM, Newark Country Club, and Arcadia Historical Society. Mr. Wenban had worked for C.H. Stuart Co. for over 50 years, serving on the corporate staff as Assistant Secretary and Treasurer. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and he enjoyed his home, farm and bird watching. He is survived by his step-son William (Christine) Brightman of Newark, and step-daughter Jeanne Frey of Newark; sister Helen Rider of Lyons; seven step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren; niece Mary VanNorman of Newark; nephew William Rider of Newark; great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. Mr. Wenban was predeceased by his parents; by his wife Ruth Knickerbocker Wenban on October 15, 1996; and step-son-in-law Gerald Frey on May 15, 2000. Interment, Newark Cemetery.

James, John - John M. James, 62, of Lyons, died April 19, 2003 at Newark Community Hospital. John was born August 10, 1940, in Auburn, to William P. and Helen Delaney James. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Lyons VFW Color Guard Post 5092 and the American Legion of Geneva. He is survived by his wife, Doris J. Yonker James of Lyons; son, Michael W. (JoAnn) James of Newark; daughter, Michelle M. James of Lyons; four grandchildren; stepmother, Phyllis M. James of Lowville; two brothers, William P. James Jr. of Florida and Joseph J. James of Seneca Falls; two sisters, Honore (Edward) Jones of Clifton and Mary Margaret (Robert) Fox of Fulton; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Minns, Audrey - Audrey A. Minns, 53, of Seneca, died suddenly April 18, 2003. Audrey was born on September 30, 1949 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Lee and Sarah Everson. She was a 1967 graduate of Clifton Springs High School and attended Arnot Ogden Nursing School. She was a member of the Clifton Springs Baptist Church. She worked at Wayne ARC prior to going into business in 1977 with her husband, Harry, at H&A Custom Applications. She is survived by her husband Harry Minns; children, Tammy (Robert) Kinslow of Palmyra, Michelle (Joseph) Hooker of Virginia, Aimee Orbaker of Geneva, and Jesse (Michelle) Orbaker of Phelps; 11 grandchildren; her mother, Sarah 'Sally' Everson; brothers, Richard (Susan) Everson and Leslie (Judy) Everson; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Lee Everson. Interment in the Sandhill Cemetery.

Zerniak, Larry - Larry J. Zerniak, 33, of North Rose, died suddenly on April 19, 2003. He is survived by Darcie; daughters, Mckenzie and Connor; parents, Stanley and Jenny of North Rose; brothers, Stanley, Jr. (Cheryl) of Wolcott; Michael (Heather) of North Rose; Christopher (Lisa) of Wolcott; his grandmother, Rosalie Zerniak of North Rose; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Bushart, Joseph - Joseph Bushart, 99, of Marion, died April 15, 2003. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, daughter-in-law, Barbara and nine brothers. He is survived by his daughters, Loretta (Dennis) VanStrien of Marion and Aldeen (Richard) Weis of Marion; a son, Melvin (fiancee Jean) Bushart of Palmyra; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was a member of the United Church of Marion.

Akins, Winifred - Winifred V. Akins, 88, of Newark, died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Mrs. Akins was a long time resident of the DeMay Living Center. She is survived by her children, Mary Rafferty, Betty Purcell and Charles Akins. Interment, Sherwood Cemetery.

Johnville, Jacob Jr. - Jacob A. Johnville, Jr., 57, of Williamson, died April 21, 2003. He was a retired seventh-grade science teacher from the Sodus Central School District. Mr. Johnville is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Ellis) Johnville; daughters, Jennifer Proulx of Williamson, Katherine (Adam) Sukhenko of Webster, Lindsay Johnville of Michigan; three grandchildren; his father, Jacob A. Johnville of Ontario; brother, David (Donna) Johnville of Webster, dear family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Geraldine (Jaeckle) Johnville. Interment in Furnaceville Cemetery. He was a a strong supporter and member of the Pultneyville Reformed Church.

Perry, Minnie - Minnie Perry, 90, of Pulteney/Hopewell, died April 22, 2003 at the Ontario County Health Facility. Minnie was a member of the Corning Rebekah Lodge, and also worked for seven years at Urbana Winery and Vineyards. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen (Earl) Fagner of Newark; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Perry of Shortsville; half sister, Beulah Gerow of Bath; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1979 by her husband, Herman Perry, by her son, Albert and her brother, Arthur Noll. Interment in Glenview Cemetery in Pulteney.

Eason, John - John 'Johnny' Eason, 78, of Newark, died April 20, 2003 at his home. Johnny was born August 30, 1924 in Rochester. For many years he worked for Home Dairy in Newark. He was a baseball fan, and a big fan of the NY Yankees. Johnny was a familiar sight, walking around Newark with his cane in one hand, a good cigar in the other. He is survived by his brother, Robert Eason of Syracuse; caregivers John and Marilyn Lawrence, Harold and Jeannette Glerum, all of Newark; many, many friends in the Arcadia area.

Work, Anna - Anna Jane Reed Work, 81, of Prescott, Arizona died April 10, 2003. She was born in Newark to Clark and Winnifred Reed. She was a graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1939. Anna Jane is survived by her husband William of Prescott; daughter, Judy (Dan) Rosebrock of Springfield, Ohio; son, Jonathan (Tonya) Worth of Prescott Valley, AZ; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Marion (Lowell) Maxwell of Newark, sister-in-law Marion Reed of Canandaigua; nieces and nephews. Anna Jane was predeceased by her son David Work and brothers Edward and Richard Reed.

Hegeman, Bernice - Berenice L. (Payne) Hegeman, formerly of East Rochester, died April 10, 2003. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Hegeman. She is survived by two sons, John Hegeman and Robert (Martha) Hegeman of Newark; a daughter, Edrys (Dick) LeClair; a brother, Berwyn (Eva) Payne; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one niece. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Hoad, Donald - Donald K. Hoad, 74, of Clifton Springs, died April 10, 2003. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette M. Hoad and stepdaughter, Laura Welch. He is survived by his son, Donald (Kris) Hoad; step-children, Howard Cain, Charles (Judy) Cain, James Cain, Timothy (Ellie) Cain; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Betty) Hoad; sister, Eleanor O'Donnell; nieces and nephews. Lannon, Norman - Norman P. Lannon, 88, died April 12, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home. Norman was born September 12, 1914 in Clifton Springs, to Adelbert and Grayce Lannon. He was an avid hunter and lifetime member of the Newark Rod and Gun Club and the NRA. He retired from Wright Components in 1977. He is survived by his sons, Daryl (Betty) Lannon of Phelps, Bruce (Mary) Lannon of Murdock, Kansas, Brian (Peg) Lannon of Port Gibson, Gary (Mary) Lannon of Clifton Springs and Dean (Pat) Lannon of Clifton Springs; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in 1993 by his wife Frances; parents Adelbert and Grayce; brothers, William, Cecil and Vick, and sister Violet. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Norris, Michael - Michael A. Norris, 34, of Newark and Waterloo, died April 13 in Pennsylvania. Michael was born May 16, 1968 in Lyons, son of Franklin and Sylvia Butler Norris, Sr. He was employed at the Ad Group - Newark Pennysaver/Courier-Gazette in the delivery department. He was formerly employed at Ray-Glo Foods. He was an avid bowler. He was predeceased by his parents. Michael is survived by two sons, Justin Michael and Jacob James Norris, and a daughter, Jessica Lynn Norris, all of Newark; his brother, Franklin Lavern Norris, Jr. of Duncannon, PA; sisters, Tina Crocker of Wolcott and Caroline Norris of Boise, Idaho; stepmother, Emily Norris of Clyde; stepsister, Cathy Stevenson of Clyde; nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Saturday, April 19 from 2-4 p.m. at Pusateri Funeral Home, 68 Sodus Street, Clyde, where services will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Dana Rattray officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Feiock, Marie - Marie Feiock, 90, of Lyons, died April 14, 2003 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased in 1960 by her husband, Raymond. She is survived by sons, James (Alberta) and Ron (Nolee) both of Rochester; six grandchildren in Rochester and six great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters - Howard (Millie) Vanderlyke of Lyons, Elizabeth Eckert of Lyons, Margaret (Robert) Brown of Chapin, Harold Vanderlyke of Lyons; several nieces and nephews. Interment, South Lyons Cemetery.

Jones, Sandra - Sandra May Jones, 42, died April 13, 2003. A graveside service will be April 18 in Franklin. Sandra was born June 28, 1960, in Sidney, Delaware County, daughter of Robert and Mary Green Jones. She attended Delhi Central School and Midlakes High School. She had resided in Phelps and Newark. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa May Jones, of Newark; mother, Mary Palmeter of Newark; five aunts, nieces and nephews.

Bouvia, George - George L. Bouvia, 87, of Sodus, died April 15, 2003 in the Canandaigua VA. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Keukelaar-Bouvia and granddaughter, Leta P. Cornwell. He is survived by his daughters., Yvonne (Robert L.) Cornwell of Sodus and Beverly A. Salford of Canandaigua; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister, Shirley Boddery; a cousin, nieces and nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews. He was a member of the American Legion Post 910, a Sampson Veteran, Sodus Masonic Lodge, Williamson 40 & 8, Sodus Rod & Gun Club and Sodus VFW. Interment in the Sodus Rural Cemetery.

Triou, Hazel - Hazel Triou, 81, of Walworth, died April 16, 2003 at Newark hospital. She was born October 21, 1921 to William and Susie Buys Triou.Hazel is survived by her brothers, Howard (Ethel) Triou of Walworth and Donald W. (Jean) Triou of Marion; brother-in-law Roy Welker of Macedon, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Welker and Blanche Wick.

Pitrella, Theresa - Theresa M. Pitrella, 93, of Newark, died April 6, 2003 at Newark hospital. Theresa was born December 1, 1909 in Clyde, to Dennis and Mary Tabbacone Maw. She worked for Perfection Foods. She retired in 1972, from the Newark Development Center where she was a secretary for many years. Theresa was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of its Rosary and Altar Society, the Legion of Mary and the Scared Heart Mission Club. She was also active with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, enjoyed sewing and loved gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Pitrella of Newark; sisters, Madaline DeMaria of Geneva and Angeline (Harold) Junto of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; brothers, Lawrence (Irene) Marro of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Thomas (Arlene) Marro of State College, PA; nieces and nephews. Theresa was predeceased in 1979 by her husband Stephen, and by two brothers, Theodore and George Marro. Interment will be in Newark Cemetery.

Smith, Scott Jr. - Scott M. Smith Jr., 13, of Red Creek, died unexpectedly April 5, 2003 at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Scott Jr. was born Dec. 22, 1989 in Newark, the son of Scott and Jennifer Dickinson Smith. He lived in the Newark area for 12 years. Currently he was a seventh-grade student at Red Creek. He is survived by his father, Scott Sr., of Red Creek; mother, Jennifer Dickinson (Eugene) Pitts of Port Gibson; two brothers, Alexander and Vincent; three sisters, Tiffany, Lauren and Jonell; grandparents, James and Rosalyn Attwell of Palmyra, Roger and Rita Gobeyn of Marion; grandmother, Maebelle Pitts; great-grandparents, Sarah and Sherman Boudreau; great-grandmother, Olive Kiphut; aunts, uncles, cousins and school friends. Interment in Rose Cemetery.

Snyder, Mary - Mary S. Snyder, 49, of Phelps, died April 8, 2003 at Geneva General Hospital. Mary is survived by her husband, Michael Snyder of Geneva/Phelps; daughter, Jamie Snyder (Matt Murphy) of Farmington; son, William Snyder of Geneva/Phelps; stepdaughters, Shannon R. Coleman, Bertha - Bertha (Bowen) Coleman, 81, of Ontario/Newark, died April 2, 2003. She was born April 14, 1921 in Niagara Falls, NY. She lived in Ontario for 58 years prior to moving to Newark in 2001. She had worked in quality control at Xerox and then became a security officer for Doyle Security. She loved Bingo and trips to casinos. Bertha was predeceased by her loving father, Chester Bowen and infant son, John Coleman. She is survived by sons, Patrick and Joseph of Rochester and Michael of Delaware; daughter, Marie Austin of Bridgeport, CT; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Barnum, Edwina - Edwina 'Winnie' (Frank) Barnum of Marion, died April 2, 2003. She is survived by Richard, her husband of 53 years; daughters, Barb Fox and Robin (Larry) Shurgot both of Marion; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons; sister, Amy Beth Bartz of Florida, one niece and one nephew.

Miller, Eugene - Eugene Miller, 81, of Marion, died April 3, 2003. He was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Carrie Miller.

Barnes, Martha - Martha Jane Barnes, 79, of Sodus, died April 5, 2003 at Wayne County Nursing Home. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Richard) Castle of Sodus; grandson John Castle of Sodus; one step-granddaughter, three step-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews. Brusso, Diana - Diana Lynn Brusso, 49, of Lyons/Arcadia, died April 6, 2003 at her home. Diana was born April 28, 1953 in Watertown to the late Edmond W. and Vena M. Sawyer-Kellar. She had worked as a custodian for the Wayne Central School District. She is survived by her husband, James Brusso; sisters Dale A. Lance of Lafargeville, Dawn M. Welch of Ontario, Doreen Hamlyn-Seeber of Florida, Della Fisher of Watertown, Deborah Kellar of Batavia; nieces and nephews. Diana was predeceased by her brothers David and Dennis Kellar. Spring interment at Fairview Cemetery in Rodman.

Manktelow, Frederick - Frederick W. Manktelow, 83, of Marion, died April 7, 2003. He was a retired fruit grower. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arlene (Hoffman) Manktelow; a son, Gary (Mary) Manktelow of Williamson; sisters, Una Pembroke of Fairport; Dorothy Manktelow of Williamson; brothers, Stanley of Williamson; Burt (Ruby) Mankelow of Ontario: seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Interment in Marion Cemetery.

Fowler, Russ - Russell M. Fowler , 87, of Stroudsburg, PA, formerly of South Butler, died April 6, 2003 in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, PA. He was born in South Butler, son of the late Clarence and Ethel (Walker) Fowler. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was employed in sales in New York City and Syracuse. In 1970, he became Director of the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation in Lyons, a position he held for 15 years. He was awarded the Economic Developer of the Year for New York State in 1983. Russell was an active member of the Sodus Presbyterian Church and the Sodus Rotary Club. In the Stroudsburg area, he was associated with the First Presbyterian Church. Russ was devoted to his family and enjoyed music, reading, economics, law and philosophy. Surviving are a son, John R. Fowler and his wife Wendy Walker-Fowler of East Stroudsburg; daughter, Linda J. Fowler-VanGorder and husband Alan VanGorder of Greenville, NC; two grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Jane Olive (Wandell) Fowler, a grandson, Ian Robert Burcroff, two brothers, Paul Fowler and William Fowler. Interment, Butler-Savannah Cemetery.

Britt, Helene - Helene Uhl Britt of Newark died peacefully at her home on April 8, 2003. Helene is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Clarence; two sons, Edward Daniel and Thomas Casey; daughter, Barbara Allyn Britt and her son-in-law John Moore.

VanDeMortel, Alice - Alice W. VanDeMortel, 85, of Newark, died April 1, 2003 at DeMay Living Center. Alice was born May 20, 1917 in Arcadia, to Leonard and Sophie DeRycke VerCruysse. She worked in housekeeping for Newark Developmental Center. Alice and husband William owned and operated Van's Grocery and Gas on Route 88 South in Phelps for 16 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark and enjoyed playing cards and visiting friends. She is survived by her son, Roger (Linda) VanDeMortel of Newark; daughter, Diana Horning of SC; grandchildren William (Sara) VanDeMortel and Jaime (Andrew) Richardson; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband, William, by one brother and two sisters. Interment in Riverview Cemetery in Phelps.

Dusharm, Gordon - Gordon James 'Gordy' Dusharm, 68, of Newark, died April 1, 2003 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. He was born March 22, 1935 in Gouverneur to the late James and Alice House Dusharm. He retired in 1993 from Fold-Pak in Newark where he worked in the Press Room as a cutter. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Harder-Dusharm; brothers, William of Savannah and Gerald (Mary) Dusharm of Newark; sisters, Beverly Durham of Ogdensburg, Joyce (Clarence) LaSage of Ogdensburg, Dorothy Heart of Palmyra, Eleanor (Jim) Finley of Edwards and Mary (Elmer) House of Sodus Center; many nieces, nephews and cousins and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Walter, sisters Betty and Patricia. Interment at the Hailesboro Cemetery in Gouverneur. The funeral home flew the Marine Corps Flag in honor of Gordon's service during the Korean War.

Wiebeld, Theodore - Theodore H. Wiebeld, 60, of Macedon, died April 1, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Pamela; daughters, Wendy (Fred) Prince, Kelly (Peter) Beikirch; grandchildren, Gabriel, Michelle, Kory, Karly, Kylie; mother, Irene Wiebeld; brothers, Thomas and Kevin; sister, Lois Kohler. He was predeceased by his father Stanley.
