Bacon, Delores, D. - Delores D. Bacon, 81, died peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior on Sept. 23, 2009. Mrs. Bacon was born the daughter of the late Prospero and Mary (Cuozzo) Spatola on July 8, 1928 in Batavia. She was a devoted nurse her entire professional career, retiring as director of nursing at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Bacon was a dedicated member of St. Michael’s Church. Throughout the remainder of her life, her gift for compassion and caring led Delores to serve her church and community. She was a Stephen Minister, Martha Minister and a Communion Minister to homebound and nursing home patients. She was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society and volunteered at the Newark Food Closet and the House of John. She was a long-term care ombudsman for the Office of the Aging. Mrs. Bacon was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed landscaping her yard and garden, caring for and decorating her home and taking long walks. Mrs. Bacon is predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald; brothers, Vincent and Michael Spatola; sisters, Dorothy Maslanka and Frances VanSavage. She will be forever remembered by her sons, Donald Jr. of Clearwater, Fla., Christopher (Mary Testa) of Honeoye Falls, Patrick of Clifton Park; daughter, Deborah (Edmund) Dunn of Victor; brother, Prospero (Dorothy) Spatola Jr. of Owego; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There were no prior calling hours. Family and friends attended a memorial mass 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at St. Michael’s Church in Newark. Private burial was in East Newark Cemetery.  In memory of Mrs. Bacon, donations may be considered to The House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432, or to St. Michael’s Church, 401 S. Faben, Loretta B. - Loretta B. Faben, 67, of Canandaigua went home to the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 with her loving family by her side. Family and friends called Friday, Oct. 2 the Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St, Canandaigua. A Funeral Service was Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. at the Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Rd, Canandaigua. Graveside Service was held in Rose Cemetery. Loretta owned and operated the Loretta’s Styling Salon in Savannah for 18 years. She served on the Crosswinds Church Board for the past 3 years and volunteered many hours in the children department at Crosswinds. Sewing, dining out with her husband, and reading were things Loretta enjoyed doing. However, the most important thing was spending time with her family whom she loved very much. Ransley, Jean - Jean Ransley, 79, of Coupeville, WA/formerly of Sodus died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in Everett, Washington as a result of complications following heart surgery.  She was predeceased by her parents, Wayne and Gladys Lyon. Jean is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold; sister, Betty (Jack) Kraft of Framingham, MA; brother-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Ransley; three children and their spouses, Keren (Don) Lacourse of Seattle, WA, Lynda (Timothy Hohn) Ransley of Seattle, WA and Scott (Brenda) Ransley of W. Simsbury, CT; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin Lacourse, Samuel, Bryce, and Deah Hohn, Ellen and Nathan Ransley. After attending Newark High School, Jean graduated from Brockport College, majoring in physical education. Beginning in the 1950’s, she taught physical education at North Rose/Wolcott, Newark, and Sodus schools. She married Harold Ransley on August 12, 1956, and moved to North Road in Sodus, where they lived for 47 years. While raising three children, she taught 5th grade in Sodus for more than 20 years. She was active in Girl Scouts, the Brantling Ski School, the Town Planning Board, the Sodus Bay Historical Society, as well as many other community and church activities. Following her retirement in the early 1990’s, she and Harold traveled extensively worldwide. She was very dedicated to her family throughout her life, particularly to her children and grandchildren. In 2003, Jean and Harold moved to Whidbey Island in Washington State to be closer to their two daughters and their families. Upon settling in Coupeville, Jean became very involved in local activities, particularly with her neighborhood and church. Jean led a very active life and enjoyed good health until her recent heart problems.  She was much loved, and will be missed by many.  A memorial service is scheduled for October 17th at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Coupeville, Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean’s name to her favorite local environmental preserve, Ebey’s Landing Trust Board, 162 Cemetery Rd., Coupeville, WA 98239.

Aulenbacher, Marilyn M. - Marilyn M. Aulenbacher, 91, Newark/Palmyra died peacefully Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. All services will be private. DiSanto, Sr., John B. - John B. DiSanto, Sr., 73, of Newark/Lyons, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Family and friends may call from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 27 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his nephew, Father John Colacino, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 28 at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark.  Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery. Memorials, in his name, may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513. Mr. DiSanto was born on November 2, 1935 in Newark, the son of Albert and Bridget (DiSanto) DiSanto.  He was a 1953 graduate of Newark High School where he played football, basketball and baseball.   John also graduated from Potsdam University where he played soccer and baseball.  He taught in several area schools before settling in Lyons.  He taught history and social studies there for 32 years.  While at Lyons High School, John coached golf, football, basketball and baseball and he also officiated for soccer and was an umpire for baseball games.  He was active with the local teachers’ union, Lyons Democratic Party and was a charter member of the former WCTA, now the Reliant Bank.  After his retirement in 1990, John and his wife moved to Boca Raton, Florida until her death in 2002.  He then moved to Fairport and eventually back to Newark.   He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Newark.  He was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Wayne Hills Country Club.  A music lover, he regularly went to concerts. John also enjoyed his trips to the track. He is survived by his children John (Maggie) Jr. of Newark, Albert (Bethany) of Fairport, Timothy (Julie) of Victor and Susan (Donald) Kilbourn of Pearland, TX, seven grandchildren Kristin, Jordan, Kendall, Mitchell, T.J., Jacob and Lauren DiSanto; a brother Peter of Orlando, FL, sisters Theresa Santelli of Boca Raton, Fl., Netta Colacino and Mary Gilardo both of Newark, many nieces, nephews, cousins, good friends and his companion Beverly Sozio of Newark.  John was predeceased by his parents and his wife Lois on October 1, 2002. Humphres, Burnel Grace - Burnel Grace Humphres, 82, of Newark, passed away September 17, 2009 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Born in Detroit, Michigan on July 14, 1927, Mrs. Humphres has lived in Newark about 10 years and was a member of the Calvary Church on Peirson Avenue. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lawrence William Humphres, of Newark; Her son, Larry Humphres (Kathy) of Newark; daughters Bonnie (Roy) Orshal, JoAnn (Dennis) Bromley, and Shirley (Lew) Kokx all of Michigan; and Diane (Tom) Waldo of Ohio; also survived by 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Willemsen, Issac A. - Isaac A. Willemsen, 82, of Fairville, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at his home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Willemsen was born the son of the late Isaac and Jennie (Leenhouts) Willemsen on December 9, 1926 in Sodus, NY. He graduated from Newark High School. Mr. Willemsen was a member of the first graduating class of the Troy New York State Police Academy. After working as a New York State Police Officer he worked for the Newark Post Office and then Arcadia Highway Dept. retiring in 1986. Mr. Willemsen was a charter member of the Fairville Fire Dept. and was past Captain of the Fire Police. He enjoyed working in his shop at home, fishing and gardening. Nichols, Earl V. - Earl Vermont Nichols, 87, of Port Gibson, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. Nichols was born the son of the late John and Nellie (Long) Nichols on January 9, 1922 in Farmington, NY. He was a 1940 graduate of Manchester High School. After 40 years of service as a Press Operator for Garlock Corp. he retired in 1985. Mr. Nichols was a member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. A Charter member of the Port Gibson Volunteer Fire Dept. and served as past Fire Chief. He served as Town Councilman of Manchester for five years and was a member of the Shriners in East Rochester. In 1973 he was Master of the Newark Masonic Lodge No. 83. He was also a member of the Lyons Eastern Star where he served as Patron three times. Mr. Nichols was a member of the Palmyra Moose Lodge. McDonald, Walter E., - Walter E. McDonald, 93, of Newark, died Saturday, September 18, 2009 at the Rochester General Hospital. He was a member of the Geneva VFW Post 2670 and was an avid woodworker and fisherman. He also loved camping. He was a member of the New Life assembly of God Church in Lyons. Bloomer, Charles K. - Charles K. “Kemp” Bloomer of Canandaigua/Newark died on September 15, 2009 at age 83.
He was born on January 21, 1926, the son of Charles Tallman and Charlotte (Kemper) Bloomer. Kemp  grew up in Newark and spent most of his life there. He served in the Air Force at the end of World War II. He graduated from MIT and worked for Mobil Chemical for many years. An avid sailor, he enjoyed racing on both Sodus Bay and Lake Ontario. His college sailing exploits earned  him a place in the Intercollegiate Sailing Hall of Fame at Annapolis and Kemp was one of the founders of the Sodus Bay Junior Sailing Association. Memorial services will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 400 South Main Street, Newark, New York on Friday, September 18 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Kemp is survived by his wife Nancy; his son Charles (Lori) Bloomer, Jr.; his daughter Margaret Naus and grandsons Jesse and James Naus and Joseph Serrett.  Memorials in his memory may be directed to the Sodus Bay Junior Sailing Association, PO Box 117, Sodus Point, New York 14555.

Pruner, Marsha M. - Marsha M. Pruner, 64, of Ross Rd., Lyons, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Blossom View Nursing Home. Marsha was born in Lyons on June 19, 1945, daughter of Wylie and Hazel Ottnod Pruner. She had worked at the Newark Developmental Center for many years as an attendant. Martin, Robert David - Robert David Martin Sr., 65, of Grist Mill Drive, Lyons, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Newark Wayne Hospital. Bob was born on April 25, 1944, son of Lionel & Mina Kaiser Martin. He had worked for 44 years for Borden's, Finer Lakes Packaging and Silgan Container Co. He was a long time fireman for Company #5 and currently served as treasurer. He was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church where he was a usher. An active member of the Lyons Elks Lodge 869, he served in may office for the lodge. Bob was a cook at Trombino's for over 50 years. He loved sports and travel. He was a member of the Lyons Rod & Gun Club and War Dads of the VFW. Bob loved his family and everyone around him. He was a fun loving guy. Cyr, June - A. June Cyr, 79, formerly of North Avenue, Newark, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Rochester General Hospital. June was born June 7, 1930, in Winsted, Connecticut, the daughter of Ralph and Hazel Dow Cyr. She graduated from the Aroostook State Teachers College in Prescott, Maine in 1955. For many years June taught second grade in Newark, first at Roosevelt School and with its closing, she moved to the Perkins School until her retirement in 1992. Lind, Lois  O. - Lois O. Lind, 84, of Grace Avenue, Newark, died Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. Lind was born July 25, 1925 in Seneca Falls, the daughter of William and Olga Waldorf Yost. She graduated in 1943 from Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls. Lois worked several years in a law  office in Seneca Falls before her marriage, then moved to Newark where she and her husband raised 
their children. After the children were grown, she worked for several law offices in Newark  before working for Mason Street Optical in Geneva. She retired in 1983. A member of the First 
United Methodist Church, she had belonged to their quilting group. Lois loved to knit and quilt. Funeral services for Lois will be at 1 p.m.. on Tuesday, September 15, at the First United 
Methodist Church, South Main Street, Newark, New York. Burial will be in Restvale Cemetery in Seneca Falls She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roland, several nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her two children Randolph in 2002 and Nancy Fritsch in 2004. Federico, Shirley Jean - Shirley Federico, 68, of E. Miller St., Newark, died Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Pines of Peace Hospice. Shirley was born in Newark, February 17, 1941, daughter of Floyd and Mary (Van Dyke) Dunlap. She was a bartender for the American Legion in Newark and worked at the Wayne County Humane Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #286 for 31 years and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #2883. Survived by her brother Terry (Carol) Dunlap of East Rochester; sister-in-law Pat Dunlap of Marion; 3 nephews and one niece; 3 great-nieces and one great nephew; dear friends Joel and Linda Gilmore; special friend and companion, Miss Kitty. Bouwens, Herland - Herland “Herly” W. Bouwens, Sr., 74,  died  Friday, September 4, 2009 at his home on Ford Rd., after a year-long battle with Myelofibrosis. Mrs. Fuller was a member of the Christ Community Church in Clyde and the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Newark. Palmero, Nancy A.- Nancy A. Palermo, 81, died Monday, August 24, 2009, at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Mrs. Palermo was born on January 14, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of Vincent and Elia  Telarcio Gentile. She had been an operator for the New York Telephone Company. Nancy had also worked at Jackson and Perkins, Sarah Coventry, and Gilbert Jewelry in Newark. She was a  communicant of St. Michael’s Church where she was involved with several activities including the Martha’s Ministry and the rummage sales. She also volunteered at the Newark Food Closet. Nancy  was a loving caretaker of many of her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 28 at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street. Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Santelli, Michael Arthur - Michael Arthur Santelli, 62, of Pearl St., Lyons, died Wed., Aug. 19, 2009 at Rochester General Hospital. Mike was born in Lyons, May 7, 1947, son of Dr. Arthur & Helene Santelli. He attended Lyons schools & he and his brother Paul operated Trombino's Restaurant in Lyons for 28 years. Mike served as President of Wayne Hills Country Club, and was also a board member. He served on the Village Planning Board, on Village Tree Committee and on the Ad Hock Committee for a train station in Lyons. He was a member of the Bucaroo Club, Elks Club #869, member of Lyons Chamber of Commerce and heavily involved in the Main St. Program. Colacino, Mary Kay - Mary Kay Colacino, 60, of Newark, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Colacino was born on October 19, 1948 in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Frederick and Winifred Burt Serens and moved with her parents to Newark as an infant. Mary Kay worked in the cafeterias in the Newark School system for over 34 years, retiring in 2004. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, August 21 at the Paul L. Everdyke, Warren – Warren Everdyke, 88, of Newark, died Monday, August 17, 2009 at Rochester General Hospital. Fulfilling the wishes of Mr. Everdyke all services will be private. He worked in the maintenance department for Fold Pac retiring in 1984. Mr. Everdyke was a member of the Woodlane Community Church joining in 1956. A bowler on the Bloomer Brothers Team and he enjoyed golf and the great outdoors. Comella, George J. - George Joseph Comella, 91, of Newark, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Family and friends may call Saturday, August 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. with a funeral service following calling hours. Mr. Comella was born the son of the late Phil and Mary Comella on September 12, 1917 in Canandaigua, NY. He retired from Fold Pac where he was a mechanic. A member of St. Michael Church and the NY Central Hose #5 of the Newark Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 61 years. Mr. Comella built his home on Shuler Rd. and in 1961 he built his in ground swimming pool. Bowling for the Bloomer Brothers Team and swimming were two things he loved to do. The funeral home proudly flies the Army Flag for his services to our country during WWII. Serving in Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France and participated in "D-Day". He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart when landing on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. Luke, Richard C. - Richard C. Luke, of Newark, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the DeMay Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1767 Plank Road, Webster. Burial will be in Webster Rural Cemetery. Mr. Luke was born on September 14, 1931 in Penfield, the son of Carl and Mae Schieble Luke. He served as a machinist apprenticeship at Gleason Works, ran the model shop for Taylor Instruments and then was a manufacturer's representative in industrial equipment, retiring in 1993. Dick thoroughly enjoyed his hobby of woodworking. Deon, Bryan Keith - Bryan Keith Deon, 36, of Newark, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas from complications of a previously undetected condition causing a fatal brain aneurysm. Bryan was born in Rochester, NY on July 11, 1973 to Roger and Dorothy (Horton) Deon. He graduated from Newark Senior High, Class of 1991, and attended Roberts Wesleyan College. He served in the US Army as a Private First Class. Trained as a Combat Engineer, he was stationed with the 464th Engineer Battalion, Webster, NY, (US Army Reserves) and later with the 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, KS (US Army Active Duty). He has been residing in South Hutchinson, Kansas. Survivors include his fiance, Christina Barker; his parents, Roger & Eileen (Custer) Deon of Sodus, NY; his brother Roger (Michele) Deon of Lexington, Kentucky; sister Connie (Andrew) Babcock of St. Joseph, Michigan; sister Kristy (Dan) Henson of Newark, NY; brother Addam (Roxanne) Deon of Newark, NY and 11 nieces and nephews. Hermenet, Beatrice - Beatrice Hermenet, 80, of Marion/Newark, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Rochester General Hospital. Mrs. Hermenet was born on July 21, 1929 in Penfield, the daughter of George and Mabel Kofahal Abrams.  For many years, Beatrice worked with her husband on their farm in Marion, retiring in 2003.  She was a member of the Reformed Fellowship Church in Williamson. LaTour, Joseph - Joseph S. LaTour, 42, of Newark, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. LaTour was born on November 30, 1966 in Conquest, New York, the son of Harold and Phyllis LaTour Coleman.  He had lived in the Auburn area before moving to Newark several months ago.  Joe was an entrepreneur and a jack of all trades.  Recently, he had been working as a home health aide in Newark. Bradburn, Sarah Elizabeth - Sarah Elizabeth Bradburn, 86, of Newark, died Friday, August 7, 2009 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.  Sarah was born the daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Rizzo) Hill on October 13th, 1922 in Buffalo, New York. She later moved to the Newark area where she met her beloved husband, Charles Bradburn. The couple married September 10th, 1989 and has lived in the Newark area since then. Sarah worked at Key Industries but was mainly a homemaker for her husband with whom she centered her life around. Sarah loved spending time with her husband. They engaged in many activities with each other such as shopping, walking and cooking. Sarah was well known and well liked throughout her community. She always greeted everyone with a smile and had a beautiful laugh. She would often sing for some of her close friends as Sarah had a beautiful voice. Mrs. Ruffalo was born on January 18, 1930, in Lyons, the daughter of Joseph and Filomena D’Amato Ticconi.  She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.  Louise had been a waitress in several area restaurants as well as in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  She had also been a warehouse supervisor for both Sarah Covenrtry and Kodak Battery.  Louise loved family gatherings, boating and traveling with her family. Herd, Doris A. - Doris A. Seymour Herd, 84, passed away August 1, 2009, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, North Carolina. She was a native of Wayne County, N.Y., daughter of the late LaVerne and Gladys Lester Seymour. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stanley and worked 18 and half years at Newark Courier-Gazette. She was a birth mother to six children and mother to all she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur F. Herd; son Douglas James Herd; sisters Eva Dailey, Jean Baldwin; brother Roy Seymour and daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Herd. Williams - Margaret ”Joan” -  Margaret Joan Williams, 81, of Newark, died August 2, 2009 at her home.  Mrs. Williams was born on April 15, 1928, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania the daughter of Charles and  Mary Steinbrecher Tompkins. On November 19, 1949, Joan married Bruce Williams in St. Daniel’s Roman Catholic Church in Syracuse and had 44 blissful years of marriage until his death in 1993. For fourteen years, Joan worked as an operator for the New York Telephone Company leaving in 1960 
to raise her family. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and a member of the NY Telephone Pioneers. Joan had a great love of music and sang until the day she died. Jordan, Harold S. - Harold S. Jordan, 94, of Bauer VanWinkle Rd., Lyons, died Saturday, August 1,  2009 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons, NY. Harold was born in Newark on November 9, 1914, son of Erza and Deborah (Smith) Jordan). He worked  for 18 years for Jackson & Perkins Co. He worked over 20 years for the N.Y.S. Dept. of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator. After retirement became an avid gardener and spent  numerous hours cultivating his beautiful gladiolus plants. He brought great pleasure to all those he brought flowers to in the nursing home and at home. Harold was an active member of the 
Fairville Fire Dept. and held several offices during his many years of service to the community. He was a charter member of the Fire Dept., served as chief, president of the Firemen's Association 
and the N.Y.S. Firemen's Association. He was long active in the Northern Central Firemen's  Association and served on the Executive Board of the Wayne County Firemen's Association. He was a member of the Lyons Elks Lodge 869, and was a past president of the Lyons Rod & Gun Club. Lefever, Peter John - Peter John Lefever of Alton, Age 71, born on July 1, 1938 went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Peter was retired from the NYSDOT. An avid outdoorsman and farmer, he also enjoyed spending his  time with family and friends. McNulty, Ann Marie - Ann Marie McNulty, 48, of Newark,  died suddenly at her home on Sunday, July 26, 2009. Ann was born the daughter of the late Gifford and Shirley (Warren) Jensen on December 29, 1960 in Penn Yan, NY. She graduated from high school and attended college for two years. Playing bingo and spending time with her daughters were things she looked forwarded too. Ann loved animals and enjoyed the love her two dogs and two cats returned to her. Compton, David N. - David Newton Compton, 72, of Newark, has gone to rest in his heavenly Father’s arms on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. Mr. Compton was born March 16, 1937 in Utica, New York the son of the late Wesley and Arvella (Newton) Compton. He was a Pal-Mac High School graduate in 1954. A retiree from Eastman Kodak Co. where he worked in the printing department. Because of his love for children he became a school bus driver for the Newark Schools. Mr. Compton enjoyed motor sports, racing, and was known as “00Jr”. Riding motorcycles and working on his 1967 Chevelle were things he always looked forward to. The funeral home proudly flies the Army flag in honor of his service to our country. He served in Korea as an MP and was Commander of a 200 man security platoon, providing security for the negotiating team during the peace talks for ending the war. There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends may attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Newark, 301 South Main St., Newark. Land, Betty J. - Betty J. Land, 66, of Clyde died Thursday, July 23, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Betty was born the daughter of Robert Sr. and Margaret (Overslaw) Williams on March 6, 1944 in Newark, NY. She was a graduate of Newark High School. Hughes, Beverly - Beverly Hughes, 83 of Newark, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Hughes was born on January 20, 1926 in Huntington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Elby and Theresa Moyer Boring. In 1948, she earned a degree in education from Penn State. Bev was a member of the First Methodist Church and had been a member of the Newark Country Club. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St., Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery. Albrecht, Stanley Jay - Stanley Jay Albrecht, 81, of Lyons, died June 29, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a devoted husband, father, marine, carpenter, electrician, mason and mechanic. He retired from Union of Operating Engineers. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera; daughter Barbara (Peter) Simonse, son Donald (Diane); stepsons Greg and Douglas Smith and families and grandchildren Caitlin and Benjamin Simonse, Melissa and Jackie Perkins; brothers Morris and Richard and sister Evelyn. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy in 1981 and son Richard in 2001 brothers Raymond and Leslie, sister Esther, mother and father, Charles and Carrie Albrecht. Latin Jr., Robert James - Robert James "Bob" Latin Jr., 66, of Maricopa died July 8, 2009 at home. Mr. Latin was born March 26, 1943 in Newark, N.Y., a son of Mollie Christine Latin and Robert Latin Sr. Bob was a self-employed computer programmer. He had been married to his wife, Sandy, for 48 years. He loved his family and enjoyed playing cards with them. He enjoyed golf and his favorite teams were the Phoenix Suns and the Oakland Raiders. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; five daughters, Martina (Scott) Gardner and Jennifer (Bill) Latin, both of Chandler, AZ, and Stacy (Robert) Latin-DeBono, Robyn (Patrick) Hoover and Samantha (Joe) Walters, all of Gilbert, AZ; one brother, Joseph of Newark, NY; and one sister, Louise Zakoian of Sun Lakes, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Chapman, Orlin H. “Butch” “Papa” - Orlin H. “Butch” Chapman passed away at his home in Newark on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at the age of 68. Mr. Chapman was born on February 26, 1941, in Newark, the son of late Hoyt Chapman and Laura (Decker) Rickerson. He retired from the Newark D.D.S.O. where he was a direct care aide. Butch was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Buckskin Bowmen Archery Club in Waterloo. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, at the Paul L. Naomi was born July 26, 1920, in Weedsport, daughter of Kenneth and Esther Weldon Lee. She was a cook at Camp Minsi in Pocono Summit and had worked in food service for Sarah Coventry Co. and Margrove Dairy and Sunset farms. Matichek, Pamela (Tierson) - Pamela (Tierson) Matichek, 57, of Shortsville, died Thursday, July 2 at Clifton Springs Hospital after a long illness. Survivors include her husband David A. Matichek, 2 sons Jonathan and Stephen and daughter Rachael. After the death of her mother at an early age, she and her brother were raised by their aunt Dott Tierson. She had many close cousins and schoolmate Joyce DeCann Smith. Pam graduated from Newark High School in 1970.

Roffo, Margaret E. "Marty"  - Margaret Elizabeth (Miller) Roffo, 60, of Shortsville,  was reunited with her husband and father on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 while in the loving company of her family at Clifton Springs Hospital. Margaret was the first child born, May 5, 1949 to James and Betty (Kessler) Miller in DuBois, PA. Marty graduated, Class of 1967 from Newark High School. Continuing her education in Fulton, Missouri at William Woods College where she was pledged Alpha Phi Sonority. Her love of education and horses motivated her to further study in Porlock, England. Marty’s obsession with horses, which she acquired from her father, eventually brought her to thoroughbred racing where she met and married Michael F. Roffo on July 28, 1975. After their son Mark J. Roffo was born August 1, 1976, their family traveled the racing circuit making their home in Florida, Alabama, West Virginia before settling in upstate New York. Marty loved dogs especially her present companion “Rags” a Jack Russell Terrier. Her sense of humor and loyalty to her family will be deeply missed. There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends may attend a Memorial Service Wednesday, July 8, at 5 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Parish, W. Main St., Shortsville. A reception will follow at the church. Lisa was born September 8, 1975 in Sodus, the daughter of Dana and Diana Hudson Puckett. She was employed at Ultralife Batteries before her illness. Family and friends may call on Monday, July 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons, where a brief memorial service will be held following visitation. Survivors include her husband Issac of Lyons; devoted mother to five children: Alissa, Preston and Donavan Kemp, Norwood IV and Kayden Hughes; parents Dana and Diana Puckett of Lyons; three sisters Christina Puckett (Bill Baker, Jr.), Jennifer Puckett and Lee Anna Puckett; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Contributions may be made to her family for the children's education fund to be set up in the future.

VanGorder, Irene M. – Irene May (Dorn) VanGorder, 79, of Newark, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Family and friends may call Sunday, July 5 from 6-8 p.m. at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Memorial Service will be Monday, July 6 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Darryl Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairville Cemetery. Mrs. VanGorder was born the daughter of the late Frederick and Marjorie (Douglas) Dorn on August 1, 1929 in Newark. She attended Newark Schools and worked for Sarah Coventry and Fold Pak. Crafts and making quilts were a favorite time for Mrs. VanGorder. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. VanGorder will be remembered by her devoted husband of 67 years Dean VanGorder; sons David of Florida and Tim (Sharon) VanGorder of Manchester; daughter Laurie (Wayne) Long of Lyons; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters Evelyn (Lloyd) Parker of Newark and Jane (Wilbur) Knuth of East Aurora; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
