The Hotel Baltzel
This 1915 postcard shows the beautiful Hotel Baltzel, at the southeast corner of Broad and Pearl. The corner is now the site of a senior citizen housing complex.
The two buildings you see behind the Baltzel (on Pearl) still stand, and at the foot of the hill (on the corner of Water Street), the historic Nusbickel Building has been renewed and renovated.
The postcard was written to a Miss Emma Hall in Clyde. Dated January 22, 1915, it reads:

Dear friend,
How are you getting along. I had a little news for you. I had tried regents in geography and passed. Standing is seventy-nine.
Yours truly,
Howard Hartnagel
