Lyons Drive For Clothing Opens Sunday
Lyons - Lyons will put in a solid week of effort in the collection of clothing for needy war victims overseas starting Sunday. Orrin C. Cross, representing the Community Center, and Lester Buckholz, representing Lyons Rotary Club, are co-chairmen. They will be assisted by committees representing churches, fraternal groups and service organizations. The former Grand Union store in the Caroukas Building will be headquarters.
Helping the co-chairmen in the Lyons part of the nationwide drive are the following: Rudolph J. Waters, Lyons Fire Department; Mrs. William Ronan, Duration Club; Evalyn Schoen, Order of Pocohontas; Mrs. Bert Baldwin, Methodist Church; Dorothy Oakleaf, American Legion Auxiliary; Dorothy Dangler, Eureka Grange; William Ford, Masons; Russell B. Facer, First Evangelical Church; Mrs. Paul Markovits and Mrs. Lester Gutschow, St. John's Lutheran Church; Mrs. Katherine Ely, Girl Scouts; Mrs. Harvey Sibley, Epworth League; Mrs. Alice Wolvin, Eastern Star; Mrs. Edward Brooks, Civic Club; Mrs. David Ennis, Parent - Teachers; George Britten, Lyons Club; George H. Holloway, Elks.
Committees for handling the clothing are these: Collection, Walters and Facer; storage and packing, Philip Paliotti; sorting, Mrs. David Ennis, Mrs. Harvey Sibley, Mrs. Brooks; reports, Mrs. Ronan; rural, Mrs. Dangler.
