Guest of Honor

Repeated Acts of Generosity Are Appreciated

Marion, June 24 - Plans are arranged for a festive occasion Monday, July 5, to which every citizen of this township should participate. The day has been chosen for a community picnic in this village in honor of Miss Love F. Seymour of Rochester, whose repeated acts of generosity for the benefit of Marion are to be recognized by the public in general, in a manner that will be something different from previous expressions of appreciation.

Strangers visiting the Marion Cemetery are at once interested in the donor when they learn that the beautiful soldier's monument erected in 1904, in memory of her grandparents, Bill and Margaret Green, and the Helen D. Green Memorial Chapel, dedicated in 1915 furnished complete, were gifts to this town from Miss Love Seymour.

The costly tomb on her family lot placed by Miss Seymour adds to the beauty of Marion Cemetery. Not only her munificence but her good taste and sense of propriety are shown in every appointment of the Masonic Temple on Main Street, one of the most commodious and attractive lodge homes in New York State, which will ever be a monument to Miss Seymour's generosity to Marion Lodge.

Already she is negotiating to erect fine entrances to the cemetery on Main and Buffalo Streets, and it is in appreciation of her continued kindly interest in this community, where she enjoyed frequent sojourns at the home of her grandparents in her childhood, that Marion delights to make her and a party of Rochester friends guests of honor on July 5.

Committees have been chosen from the various organizations to have charge of the events of the day. The general committee will include these officers of the Masonic Lodge, with their wives; Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Scutt, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond B. Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Luce. The firemen will be represented by Chief George Frine, Edward D. Williamson, Scott B. Curtiss, and Richards Chapter, O.E.S., by Mrs. Minnie Durfee, Mrs. Jeanette Baylard, Mrs. Mary Peer and Patron George E. Luce.

Rev. Herschel R. Griffin of the Baptist Church, and Rev. John Wolterink, of the Second Reformed Church, will have part in the exercises of the day. Rev. Wallace W. McWilliams of the Presbyterian Church will direct the programms of sports. The committee from the First Reformed Church will be Herbert Boekhout, Albert Bush and Abram Bushart.

Every one is requested to provide for a picnic dinner which will be served at noon.

The firemen will be prepared to serve hot sausage sandwiches, ice cream and popped corn, which have become so popular at their Saturday evening entertainments. The finishing touches of the programs will be announced. This advance notice is given to reserve the date, July 5.
