The Windsor Hotel
The Windsor Hotel stood on the northwest corner of East Union and East Avenue. Razed during the Urban Renewal of the 1970's, there is a parking lot now on the corner.
In The Union Gazette Directory of 1931, the hotel advertised:
In the local 1941 directory, the proprietor was listed as Mrs. Emma A. Dufloo and by the early 1950's it was Mrs. Emma Dufloo and Louise Larson. Other occupants (all females) included L. Clicquennia, B. Flanders, E. Peck*, Rena Scott and Margaret Smith.
* - Directory symbols indicate that this resident was either part-owner or was employed there part-time. (We believe the latter to be the case.)
Although this photo is undated, the brick street, trolley tracks and Buick in front of the Arthur Schultz Furniture Store are all good clues.
