Merritt D. White seriously injured
Kicked an trampled on by horse last Sunday afternoon
Merritt D. White, until recently collector of taxes for the Town of Arcadia, suffered severe injuries at his home on Mason Street Sunday afternoon.
Mr. White went out to the barn to attend to his horse. Mr. White had been having a severe cold and had rubbed some turpentine and lard on his chest. Evidently, the horse didn't like the smell of turpentine and commenced to jump around and in some way, Mr. White doesn't know just how, he got down in the stable and the horse commenced to kick and flounder around.
The index finger of Mr. White's right hand was badly lacerated its entire length, almost to the bone. His coat and trousers were nearly torn off of hiim and he was very badly bruised and kicked about the legs. He finally managed to get out and in a dazed condition went to the house. He has been confined to his bed during the week and is likely to be there for a couple of weeks to come.
Dr. York is taking care of him.
