1964 - Remembering Noah's Ark (and other Newark businesses)

Newark Pennysaver adThis Newark Pennysaver advertisement from February 13, 1964 was placed by Noah's Ark, corner of Main and Union, home-owned by Ben Shuman, proprietor.

Most of the items in the Winter Safety Sale were winter-weather related, but it also included such things as aluminum folding lawn chairs for $2.97 and a fishing reel for $2.98.

In the same Pennysaver, you'll find an ad for the Capitol theatre - Lawrence of Arabia;

a half-page ad for used cars at Ken Larson Ford, 319 West Union St.; 1960 to 1963 models, ranging in price from $1195 to $1645;

also display ads for the Hydesville Grocery; Freddie's Tastee Freez; Farrell's Esso Service Station; and one to buy a new Frigidaire at Sporn's, 147 West Union St.

Small 'reader ads' included:
